The first week my mother was placed here, they were very attentive and caring. But don't let that fool you. The scenario will change in the second week. They stopped cleaning g my mom and the lady that shared a room with her. I'd get there early in the morning and you could tell that overnight they were not cleaned. I would have to start the search party and look for someone to help me get the people that would clean them. It would take forever. The respiratory therapist, Fernando was nice the first week but then was never around and had an attitude like we were bothering him when we'd ask him to please suction my mom's trach. Even when I'd ask another respiratory therapist to help my mom's trach he'd begin whispering in their ear which was so unprofessional. The nurses there did not help much. It was Everyman for themselves. My mom needed to have a picc line out in because she became very anemic and needed to have Intravenous iron complexes administered. Unfortunately my mother acquired a bacterial because during the procedure an individual did not clean their hands. Needless to say my mother had to be rushed to the hospital. My mom passed away 6 days later. Please for the love of God and your loved ones. Pass this place up. They should be closed down. The lady who my mom shared a room with died a week later. They are very careless. They removed my first review that I left but I will post it over and over again to save you all from this nightmare.

I arrived 5 min late for appt because the parking situation is atrocious, regardless of how early I arrived. No warning from office when I made the appointment also, no confirmation call where, a heads up could have sufficed. There's a 15 min grace period, found out after check in. After standing there watching the girl behind the glass look flustered for about 5 min, followed by PT's coming over to assist her waiting another 15 min or so... I ask how much longer only to be told I was 5 min late and they are trying to find someone else to see my child. The time wasted scrambling, rather than have the already scheduled PT bring him in, access him, begin training him, and lose 5 min of the 30 session due to lateness... would have been a more HUMAN response considering the excessive wait period for appointments. Especially after observing several PT's behind the glass, "helping" the receptionist, including the one scheduled.

Because of a fall, I underwent a complex surgery to totally reconstruct my elbow: titanium implant,…read morerebuilt ligaments, bone screws, etc. After that, my arm was basically paralyzed and I had horrible pain. The surgeon told me that my only hope of regaining even partial function was months of occupational therapy. So I went to see a physiotherapist affiliated with a major NYC hospital and medical school. Her assistant reviewed my records, took one look at my arm, and said, "You need Michelle Torres." She was right: Michelle and her team gave me my arm and hand back, and I will be grateful to them forever. First, Michelle is an absolute expert. She carefully explained every detail of my injury and recovery (much more clearly than the doctors did) and knew exactly what was needed to fix my arm, from shoulder to elbow to hand. I couldn't even write my name at my first appointment, but regained new abilities every week. Second, Michelle actually made the entire process enjoyable. In the center of her large, open office is a curved table, with patients doing various exercises on one side and Michelle or Liz on the other, giving individual guidance and help. Although every person there is recovering from injury or illness, and probably even working through pain, the room is always filled with conversation and laughter. Everyone is working hard while smiling, laughing, and sharing experiences in English, Spanish, or a combination of both. Thanks to Michelle, I actually found myself looking forward to occupational therapy each week. My recovery was long and challenging, but Michelle, Liz, Aida, and Lizbhette genuinely helped me get back to living my life. I cannot recommend them strongly enough.

Upon my follow up to the Dr, he took note of how the new cast provided a better support to my recovering injury. Furthermore, she proved to be an advocate on my behalf when the insurance company attempted to reduce the doctor's recommended therapy sessions. Aside from her medical proficiency, Michelle's bed side manners are incredible. Her willingness to listen to patients and her warm demeanor puts clients at ease. Additionally, the facilities are well maintained and wait times are minimal. The staff members are amiable and resourceful; they take a great interest in accommodating patients' needs.

At first I literally called for 2 months straight and left messages for a woman named Lorna. She never ever returned my calls or emails. I ended up with her supervisor Ruthy. Ruthy was able to schedule an appointment. In this appointment she stated that they offered feeding services but they didn't take my insurance so I would have to pay out of pocket or go through CPSE. Ruthy recommended that i start the CPSE evaluations before opting to pay out of pocket. I started the CPSE process with their office and they sent a psychologist to my home. I explained to the psychologist that I wanted a complete evaluation because she is now school age and if there is any issue I would catch it early. This psychologist evaluated my daughter and he made the decision to pick and choose who evaluated my daughter. They sent someone to do the education evaluation, speech evaluation and that was it. I specifically asked for all areas and I was told by their offices that it's up to the psychologist to decide what evaluations she needs (which isn't true). I end up getting a call from CPSE to do the final meeting and when I told her what Our Children First said she was beyond upset. This company didn't even come to the meeting. They were on a conference call the whole time. The CPSE worker told them that they weren't allowed to do what they did and they needed to send the rest of the evaluators the way that I asked. The company agreed and they sent who they needed to send. I was told by Ruthy the supervisor that if she didn't qualify I could pay out of pocket for services and I was ok with that. CPSE ended up denying my daughter services because according to Our Children's First evaluations my daughter didn't have any delays. So I called Our Children First to take the option of paying out of pocket. At this time I am informed by Michelle the one who's in charge of these meetings that they do not offer feeding services there. Mind you Ruthy the supervisor said that they did. So I wasted over a year on this company only to not receive any help from them at all. All they wanted was for me to do the evaluations with them so that they can receive the money for these evaluations. If you are in need of these evaluations please use the DOE's company's. These people are not organized at all. I wasted so much time on a company that clearly didn't care about my child's wellbeing. They were only after money.

Not the "4 out of 5" rating it claims to be!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS…read more After a week's stay at Montefiore, my mother was scheduled for two weeks of REHAB at this facility. WHAT A MISTAKE I MADE PLACING HER HERE! The morning after she arrived, she became sick. After a few days I took her home (Room 206B) because she kept coughing up phlegm. It became worse, and I didn't want her catching anything...like a pneumonia [or worse]. First off, I didn't realize how "out of date" this facility is; the online pics must be outdated too, because it didn't match what's there today). My friend's mother worked there when I was a teen (I'm 59) and they haven't updated anything since. The nurses are understaffed, and when you ring for them, it takes a while for someone to answer. Twice my mother had get up (and with a walker) walked to and waited at the front desk for someone to come. One night her "roommate" fell off the bed for a second time, and it took 16 mins before someone came in. Upon arrival, the aid on duty had an attitude and scolded the woman for falling!! There was only one rail on the beds (not two); and the meals were usually cold by the time they arrived. Many times Mom had to ask the staff to reheat them her food; which were delivered with a large side of attitude. While showering, my mother saw a cockroach...and the next day, there were two in her room (it's been 24 years since we've had roaches so, I had to fumigate her clothes/suitcase to make sure there were no stowaways). There is no rehab on the weekends (the rehab people were very nice to her); and when my mother asked, the woman at the desk told her, "This is a NURSING home" (even though the building says, BRONX CENTER REHABILITATION & HEALTHCARE). I should've taken her out sooner; especially when her congestion kept worsening. And here's the topper; I just found out her roommate has Covid and they kept my mother in the same room!

If you have your love ones here presently, don't take them out but definitely document EVERYTHING and get a lawyer! They are NOT doing their job and they Have incompetent doctors and nurses! They are never on the same page and giving you false and incorrect information. My complaints are: the room is always dirty! The family has to inform the damn nurse and administrator of admission for them to ACTUALLY send a porter to clean the room. We the family ask the nasty nurse Solomon questions and it's like we disturbing her from sitting at the desk. It's your job! If you don't like it then look for a different profession!! This place is suppose to be a rehabilitation and healthcare? They have not given my dad any therapy! It's more like relaxation and NO CARE! They don't care for the patients! My father has an ulcer on his back and they don't even rotate him every 2-3 hours. But when the family there then they act like they working. My dad is not senile and remembers everything but these nurses and hospital people think they all have amnesia. Don't let these people think your love one is senile if they are aware of their surroundings! My other concern and complaint is they don't feed my dad and leave his food sitting til it's cold for hours and sometimes my dad don't even eat at all! This is concerning so I hope the director and the NY state DEPT of Health reads this! This place has these nurse ignoring the patients and Medicaid being charged for services that they not even providing or giving my father! TERRIBLE PLACE!!

It is also very well kept, from the grounds to the physical plant, which is quite well-maintained and CLEAN. I find most everyone professional, accommodating and respectful. The wound care providers are like none I have ever seen. They are very conscientious and fastidious. I can't compliment them enough! The physical and occupational therapy provided is top-notch. Clients are not warehoused, nor are they left to linger between "sets." The entirety of the staff is mindful and take note of all of the clientele. This facility's ONLY downfall is in its delivery of food services. I am at a loss to understand how it can be so deficient when every other department is wholly on point. I dare say that if there was improvement in this department, they might NEVER experience a low census, as I would expect people to be knocking down the door to receive their care.
