Great place! Friendly people in a neat building. We got a private tour and a tasting: ask about the fireman's pole!

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Initially, I found Frazier Creek Brewing and Distilling (which I will shorthand simply to Frazier Creek for the remainder of this review) through my adventuring, specifically the Treasure Coast Wine, Ale & Spirits Trail. Though not the first brewery in Martin County, it is the first "brewstillery" in which it serves as both a brewery and distillery. Wanting to check in at another location on the aforementioned trail, I have to say this place is pretty good, but since I went early afternoon (I work 3rd shift at the time), it isn't exactly the most active place to be at. And to be fair, the same goes for the other brewery I went to at this time (Ocean Republic). Ergo, this initial review will be based on a visit between noontime and 3 p.m. In short, too early to be at a brewery, but the only time I could go because of my working shift. Though an address is provided, Frazier Creek is located in Mayfair Plaza on US-1 (Federal Hwy.). If it helps, it is the business that seems to have a "watchtower" rising up from its entrance like a sentinal. Upon entering, you're greeted to a nice open space that hints this place was probably an extreme sporting goods vendor or business in its past. Why I say that? Because of all the decks on the wall used to highlight Frazier Creek's drink menu. I sat at the bar which was optimally observed by the cute bartender, and I understand why it was minimal as it was, as aforementioned, "too early to be in a brewery" and there were like only one or two more patrons inside besides me. Nevertheless, the bartender was attentive and gave me drinks based on how I was feeling at the time as well as the fact it was still early afternoon. So for me, lighter beers. I would not drink a heavy stout or IPA this "early" in the day. What I did have were three drinks they always have on tap, two alcoholic so I had them in 4 oz. tasters and one that was non-alcoholic so I had a regular 8 oz. glass. Must stress I was hitting up the locales in the Treasure Coast Wine, Spirit & Ale trail in Martin County so I can't get all happy at ONE location, right? I had the Stuart Shandy and Zero Gravity Sour in the 4 oz. tasters. The former had more of the grapefruit flavor over the lemonade flavor, but it was delightfully sour. As for the latter, I enjoyed that one more because I prefer oranges as my citrus of choice. And to "fill in the gap" without having too much alcohol since I would be drinking mead next (Hani Honey Co.), I had their root beer, too. That was good too, but I am more of a cream soda kind of guy, and since sugar is in everything, I have a thing for Olipop, Virgil's, and Poppi flavors. So far, not one brewery has made a sugar free root beer (yet). As for the last part of food and drink, there was no formal food menu I saw, but they did have either a collaboration or something "in house" outside of the actual brewery and distillery was served for food: fish dip. There were two versions I got, and I ate one with Ritz crackers at the bar. Fantastic. Definitely home made and independent given the price point, but I am more than willing to pay to help support it. As for the other dip, it was good too once I opened and finished it back home. On a sidenote, the restrooms - at least the men's restroom - was decently clean and stocked. Nothing out of the norm. Given the fact I showed up during a time I don't expect the full service and experience Frazier Creek has to offer, I can only rate my visit(s) for what they offer at the time I went which is three out of five stars. Now I must stress that is actually not bad as they hit all the main points on serving a customer during a time when they are "down" and "slow." I don't expect them, or any brewery/distillery/meadery/etc. to bend over backwards for me when I show up at 1 p.m. on a weekday. But I will also say that for many places, doing just the basics is a chore during that time, so the fact Frazier Creek did, I applaud you all. Now that I am working a normal schedule, I can truly come by during your peak hours and see what Frazier Creek has to offer. I did see they were preparing for a cornhole tournament when I left, and I would have loved to stay to smash the competition, but a las, responsibilities over pleasure when in the midst of a workweek. If Frazier Creek is consistent with what they provided during the early afternoon, plus whatever they do during their peak hours, I'll definitely update this review.

Bartenders were super friendly as well and gave a nice walkthrough of what they had to offer on the menu as well. The food service is rather limited but still available as you can read in other reviews but I believe they allow outside food but also check with them first to be respectful of course. Other than that I'm definitely adding this to my place to bring my friends and family when they visit Stuart.

Frazier Creek Brewing and Distilling - Plenty of space to bring family and friends. The drive from Tampa was worth it. Lots of beers and spirits to try.

I called weeks prior and was told to email Matt our availability. I did that and Matt called only hours later. There were so many classes already full so Matt booked us for that day. The class was on a Friday at 5:30pm so be prepared to leave work early and battle traffic. Luckily, we were not too late but had trouble finding the place. As we were pulling into a lot on US 1, Matt called me to see if we were still coming. I told him we were right there but did not know where to go lol. It is located behind Kreepy Tiki. We pull into the lot, find parking, and are still confused which building and door to go to because there is no awning. We find a door that could be it (the first door on the left when you reach the top of the stairs), walk in, ask if this is the place, and find Matt. Matt informs us that he is waiting on another couple to arrive and then we can start the class. We start talking and since the other couple was super late, we had the place to ourselves. Matt gave us a tour, an education, history, and some samples. This place produces all sorts of drinks for other companies, Fwaygo is one of them. Since Matt ran out things to entertain us with, we started without the other couple. Matt provides us suggestions of what are the absolute necessities of gin making (Juniper is a must FYI). We create our concoction and write our measurements down on a form. They keep the recipe for your file and you can come back and create the same again! Sooooo cool!! By the way, I am not including that in my pictures because it's our secret, unique recipe lol. Matt instructs us to grind certain ingredients and put it in the beaker. We then add 800mL of vodka to it. The other couple finally shows up! We decided to wait for them to create their recipe to start it in the still. The four us do so and wait. Matt informs us it is going to take about 2 hours and offers us some cocktails. We had some concoctions Matt created and we all worked together to come up with other ideas. Luckily the other couple were super cool! Our booze was ready. Matt gave us step by step instructions again what to do. So when we purchased the groupon, we assumed we would only get one bottle per couple. Nope, we received a bottle each of our amateur gin! We signed our labels and placed them on our bottles. Matt shrink wrapped the bottles and placed them in fancy bags for us. I honestly had such a perfect, amazing experience. I cannot say anything bad about it. I'm an idiot and did not think to bring cash. I didn't know we would get such an experience I guess. FYI, I suggest you bring cash to tip Matt. Next time we go, we are tipping double. He deserves any recognition he can get.

What a great experience! Two friends and I got a Groupon for the rum tasting and tour here and…read moreshowed up without an appointment yesterday afternoon (due to moving plans around). The Groupon is $10 for a $15 tasting, but you get way more for either price! Erica and Samantha took care of us so well and were very knowledgable about the brand, products and production process. We had tastings of 3 rums that are made on site at the distillery using South Florida sourced ingredients (mainly from Okeechobee): their Platinum, Barrel Proof and Ruby Rush Grapefruit rums. Their Platinum rum (aged 3 months) is tremendously clean tasting and smooth and has a slight hint of coconut from being distilled through coconut shells. It was definitely a refreshing take on white rums. Their Barrel Proof rum (aged 6 months) is the amber rum we think of when we think of rum, but with so much richer flavor and a little smoke since it is aged in former bourbon barrels that had housed bourbon for at least 5 years. But also can kick you in the butt with its 65% alcohol. It was tempting to not buy it there since 1. It is only available at the distillery, and 2. I can definitely see my friends and I drinking it as a whiskey alternative every so often. Their Ruby Rush rum is a grapefruit spirit that had that sweetness you can imagine having for dessert. The ladies mixed it with soda water and lime juice, creating a wonderful refreshing spritzer. They pack you up a complimentary glass from the distillery, the same one you use for the tastings and cocktails, which is incredibly cute. Aaaand if you check in on Yelp, you can get one of these glasses as well! My friend and I signed up to be on their mailing list so that we can be informed about their events, like trivia night and their biannual bottling (you help them bottle and get a bottle for yourself at the end!). With the anti going out craziness happening right now, my best bet to have their stuff again may be to go to a Total Wine and Spirits and get a Platinum or Ruby Rush rum. But I'll be sure to return!

I took advantage of a promotion they had, which included a 3 course dinner and cocktails for 55 dollar + tax. It also included a tour of their facility. I bought the ticket online through eventBrite. When I entered, I took advantage of the valet parking, which was free for the first hour, but 4 dollars for each additional hour. When I arrived, I had trouble finding the place, which I had to walk back and forth for 15 minutes, asking various people where to meet, before finding out I checked in at the Sistrunk marketplace area. I was finally greeted and waited at the bar with other people. I think we were waiting for more people as the experience started 30 minutes late at 6:30pm. We first started the tour, but when we got inside, it was mostly a warehouse with no distillery machines or any other equipment making the equipment. Even the tour guide was confused, so we got seated together at a private table inside the marketplace. We were first served a cocktail inside a plastic cup, in which our server explained what it was. It was a tasty drink, too small and not too strong to really enjoy it. The pear pasta appetizer was a generous portion and probably the best dish I had there. The pasta was al dente and hot in temperature when served. The pear inside was sweet and tart. I believe there was bacon there as well, which made it a bit better. The second course came around 1/2 later with a pomegranate cocktail and short ribs. The cocktail was pretty weak in alcohol, but still enjoyable. The short ribs were cooked well and soft, and I did like the gravy provided. However I found the brussels too salty and crispy like chips, and the pumpkin puree to be very sweet. I guess that's why people find pumpkin spice to be over used. I left quite a bit uneaten. After the entree, the owner informed the guide that the distillery area was open and the tour was a go. We went inside the distillery room, which was very small. However, the owner informed me about the distillery and provided good information about it. After 25 minutes, we went back to the table for dessert. We were given a sweet cocktail (wasn't fully informed what it was) and a bread pudding. This time, the cocktail was stronger and deliciously sweet, but the bread pudding was dry and bland such that my mates told me to pour the cocktail on the bread pudding to make it better. I think that did the trick a bit. While the service was friendly and mostly prompt at the table, it was unorganized at the beginning, especially at the start of the tour. I felt we were just trying to get everything done and it felt a bit choppy. I didn't care for my drinks to be served in plastic cups. Doggie bags were provided since portions were nicely sized. It looks like my mates enjoyed the food more than I did though. For 55 dollars, I honestly expected more organized service, stronger drinks, and better food. Plus, parking should have been included. It wasn't that Shady Distillery didn't try, but I think it is still working on renovations and getting their tasting room built. If they just focus and sell the drinks instead of doing food as well, they should be successful. I will wait for everything to finish, then visit again for another tour and buy a cocktail at the tasting room once ready.
