Bates Automotive - Shop owners reply trying to make me look like a bad person because I was honest.

I have had two wonderful experiences at Bates and felt called to leave a 5 star review for the…read morewhole team! They are so welcoming and friendly from the moment you walk in the door. Service & quality of work has been great, as well as affordable. I get VERY stressed about anything car related, but I've been truly at ease both visits. I have also waited in the lobby area with my toddler both visits, and they have a little table with coloring books and I feel very comfortable in their space. This is definitely my "go to" auto shop for any future needs and highly recommend

Had my car towed here due to an alternator failure and some tire issues. The quote was extremely…read morehigh compared to other shops in the area but I only had one tow so despite other people saying they were high I figured I would give them a chance. I touched base with the shop to let them know I was working on finances. As I was trying to come up with the large sum of money I was able to find another shop to repair for almost 600 less. I called today to have it towed and they would not release my vehicle until I paid diagnostic fees that totaled $162. Despite multiple communications between Art and I not one time were any diagnostic fees talked about. I wasn't told when I called to let them know it was coming. It wasn't discussed when he provided me with estimates. It wasn't discussed or disclosed EVER. It was two separate fees. One to tell me my alternator died which I knew before I even had it towed there and told him that. The second was a fee to visually inspect my tire and joint. Please stay away from this shop. This is shady business. Be up front and professional with your potential customers when you provide them pricing. Listen to other peoples reviews also. I didn't agree to a fee. I didn't sign anything saying id pay a fee and it was never ever talked about. Had it been id completely understand. People do not work for free and I get that. But this was just wrong In response to the person below NEVER, NOT ONE time was a diagnostic fee disclosed or talked about and you're a liar if you say you told me that. You gave me a quote for services. Broke it down and never not one time ever mentioned the fees and I spoke to you MULTIPLE TIMES. you even thanked me for keeping you updated on the status of my vehicle being there because I was worried it was there for multiple days. You told me not to worry you usually don't stress over it until a vehicle has sat for over 30 days. At any point in time even when I called you to let you know I was having it towed there did you ever mention the fees. Ever. Stop being a liar and trying to make yourself feel better or have your shop look better by pointing out any other reviews I left. That's why reviews exist. I can show you every single time I spoke to you in my call history. The only time I was told about any fees was when I called you to say I was having it removed off your lot. I kept you informed every step of the way and was honest with what my situation was. Sorry I didn't have $1800 sitting around. But go ahead and say that to try and make me look "worse" I should have recorded all those calls so then I could have the audible proof that you're a liar. I never was told about the fees. I never agreed to the fees and I never signed anything regarding acknowledgement of fees. You set a receipt in my vehicle and didn't even provide the estimate copy and I bet the diagnostic fee wasn't even on it because it wasnt ever disclosed. The receipt I have was generated on the day I picked it up. In general as a human being, lying is shady and non disclosure is shady. In a business it's a disgusting practice. Do better and you wouldn't get shitty reviews. I leave honest reviews and the only other auto shop issue I had was again the truth and the shop actually apologized. So piss off trying to degrade my character. So very unprofessional Bates Automotive & Restoration Center (Owner) an hour ago Just to clarify we DO advise there will be diag fees upfront before any vehicle is looked at or an appointment is made. We can't take a customers word the alternator is bad, if we did and installed a new one and the problem wasn't fixed, then we would be the "bad guys" for not verifying that WAS the issue. We need to be certain we are fixing the issue at hand, not just a blown fuse or ect. And let's not leave out the car was here for 8 days while for "managed" your finances and the other shop you're using in your own words here, " a personal mechanic" not even a shop. Of course Billy Bob will be cheaper without overhead and staff to pay for. And once again using YOUR words here, "People do not work for free and I get that" but when we charge for diag fees, we're somehow the "shady ones" Judging by the other reviews from this customer, any repair shop is out to get her.

We had been truck shopping for a while. We shopped several dealerships, all different makes. We…read moreknew what we wanted on the vehicle and knew what we were willing to spend. A lot of year end deals, incentives, rebates, etc. We ended up buying a new truck from Adam here at AutoCenters Nissan. They were willing to give us a fair price on our trade in, they did knock the new truck down some and got to a point we could agree upon. In the end what sold us was the warranty. If it's what they say, it seemed to us to be the deciding factor. I will say you have to watch the internet pricing because it includes all incentives, and most customers would not qualify for them. We knew that up front because I read about it on their website. Yes, we spent 4 hours making the deal and doing all the paperwork, that would be true at any dealership. Adam really tried to expeditiously move things along, all of the staff that we encountered were polite and professional. They offer water/coffee/soda while waiting, showroom/restrooms were clean and modern. Only had the vehicle one day, but so far we really like it. It's new, what's not to like, right? Seriously, vehicle rides nice, seats are comfortable, love the touch screen for the map/audio. Lots of cup holders and places to store things. Our truck came with spray-in bed liner.

My husband had a very disappointing experience at this dealership last night. He drove several…read morehours to purchase a Ford Expedition Max and ultimately came home empty-handed due to what we felt was unprofessional and misleading sales practices. After both parties had agreed on a trade-in value for our vehicle and a purchase price for the new one, the salesperson repeatedly changed the numbers instead of honoring the agreed-upon deal. He would reduce the trade-in value by approximately $1,000, increase the purchase price, and then present the adjusted figures as though the trade-in credit offset the difference. The numbers consistently shifted, making the deal difficult to follow. What was even more disappointing was the salesperson's comment to my husband: "Have fun calling your wife and telling her you're coming home empty-handed." We found this remark to be unnecessary and unprofessional. I'm sharing our experience simply to encourage others to carefully review every number on the paperwork before signing anything. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect the level of honesty or professionalism we expected, and we hope others will take the time to verify that the final documents match the terms they originally agreed to.

Both times I have come here, there has been no wait for service, which is a plus when you have a tight schedule to meet. I pulled in and was immediately greeted with a friendly smile and how are you today. I told the gentleman what I needed done, and he proceeded to begin working immediately. any questions or concerns I had were answered and taken care of very professionally and very quickly, which is a good sign of customer service being done correctly. I had an oil change done here a few months ago, so when I pulled in today, he was quickly able to pull up my information which speeded the process along rather nicely. they pulled my air filter out and showed me the wear and tear on it, and replaced it at a very minimal cost which is a nice addition to the final outcome of the visit. I was in and out of here in right around 15 minutes, and my short time here was handled quickly and professionally by the staff, they cleaned my windows, and checked my tires and that was something I didn't even ask for, kudos on the customer service skills Oil Time, you have it down to a "T". if your looking for a quick oil change, and are in the Festus area, be sure to stop in at Oil Time, their staff is friendly, helpful and will have you in and out of there in no time, and without spending an arm and a leg on your oil change. These guys know what they are doing, so be sure to check them out to see for yourself...

I was getting preventative services done at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle and the found the damage done. OilTime would take no responsibility for the mistake and I am deeply disappointed. Be careful the next time you go in it could happen to you. Be sure and ask if everything went ok or perhaps choose a more responsible place to service your vehicle. Lin Grass showed who he is by cursing at me even though I kept a cool head and had definite proof. Good luck Festus community!
