Working with Dave and Mitchel was a good experience from start to finish. I got a reply to my request for an estimate via email the next day, and they were able to schedule my job the next week. They arrived on time, and job was finished the same day even with my special requirements. I had some special glass tiles that could not be painted, or even touched with the chemicals used to prep the rest of the tiles and tub, and this was handled very well. They had to take a little extra time, but they made the effort. There is some smell once the paint goes on, but they used a big ventilator to minimize the smell. The tub had a couple of big chips, and five little ones - now you can't tell it was ever chipped. It's too soon to say how well this new paint will hold up, but it looks great now. read more

Called to get a quote for a very minor fix on a bathtub and was quoted an unreasonable amount. When I asked how come so much, and advised this was almost 5 times the amount I paid for the tub, Dave responded with..."just rip out the tub then" and promptly hung up the phone on me. I found Resurface solutions by searching on the internet. I found their website and did a little research first. What you see on their website is definitely what you get. We had a 23 year old beige bath tub and now it is shiny and white and I am getting nothing but great comments from friends and family. Dave was great to deal with and when ever I had a question whether it was via email or phone call, he always replied promptly. The bath tub was done in about 5 hours. My husband who is the bather out of the two of us (i love my showers) loves his new tub. We also changed out the faucets so you can no longer tell the bath tub is 23 years old, it looks brand new. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone wanting to change their bathroom in an affordable way. read more

Dave at Resurface Solutions refinished my bathtub in 2009 with a 5 yr guarantee against "lifting, blistering or other failure of adhesion." The tub looked great! But in January 2013 the finish began to deteriorate near the drain where water sits. When Dave came to check it out, he said quite bluntly that this was not a warranty issue and that I was wasting his time. With no other explanations or suggestions, he simply got in his truck, gave me the finger and drove away. read more

I just spent two days trying to get a look at their work before committing. First time, after I had changed my schedule around to make the agreed upon time and location - cancellation text an hour before. Second time, confirm by text the time and location, drive out to meet them - and they are a no show. Lack of communication is a complete joke, and it seems that they have forgotten the meaning of customer. On top of it all, the price quoted was $200 higher than their competitor, PermaGlaze. Heed the warnings you'll see from Dave Hillyer's many dissatisfied customers if you scroll through the reviews on other sites such as trustedpros. The resurfacing job Dave Hillier did on my bathtub failed not once, but twice - once after 2.5 years, and again, only a year after he came to redo the job. Apparently, not only have I lost faith in his service and products, but Dave Hillyer himself has as well, since he refuses to back his work and correct the peeling, although it is still under warranty. At first, he told me that he no longer services my area and said he would write me a refund cheque for the job. However, take the time to interpret the warranty carefully: the value is pro-rated based on the number of years since the application. That means that I would have received a cheque for just over a hundred dollars 4 years later, although the cost of the service was $675 + tax. Fine. However, Dave was looking for any way out, and since I see he has taken the time to respond to other reviews, I will necessarily include some details. I provided him a copy of the receipt in order to claim the warranty, and directed him to make the refund cheque out to me, as my ex's name happened to be on the invoice as he was the one who was home that day. Dave's response was condescending and chauvinistic: first that the warranty is non-transferable, then, "I wish you well, you got a refinished bathtub and tile paid for by other than you and have enjoyed the benefits." I wrote back making it clear that I was the owner of house then and am now, and that I still live here, and that the BC Consumer Protection office agreed that I had a legitimate argument. Never heard a word back from him. By the way, Dave Hillier was very clear in his last email to me that resurfacing is only a "temporary condition." So listen to the man himself and don't waste your money. read more
