Recently, I had the misfortune of requiring a data recovery service. One of my clients had a server crash from a drive problem. This server provides critical online functions to their business and without it, required 3-4 extra staff just to operate. The first option was to try and recover from backup and it turned out that the corruption had propagated to the backups which made them useless. It was at this point that I thought we were done for. I decided to search the internet to see if there was a recovery option and I found ReStoring Data. From my initial call to the final call, they were one of the most professional and caring companies I have ever dealt with from the Internet. They were clear on what they could and could not do, they did not make any false promises and delivered on everything that they said they could. It took a couple days, but they were able to recover all of our data and allowed us to download from cloud storage so that we did not have to wait for courier delivery of our recovered data. We paid for their fastest service and it is very unnerving when you are paying this premium and hoping that it would work. They understood this and allowed me to remote into a system with our data on it and review it. This was tremendous for peace of mind and made us very confident of delivery and value for the amount paid. I hope I never have to use a data recovery service again, but if I do, you can bet the call will be made to ReStoring Data. Thanks guys. You have a Great Team! read more

I had never suffered a hard drive failure before, but I accidentally knocked over my external drive that contained a backup of all my company records. It fell about 3 feet to the floor, and immediately started making a buzzing sound. I couldn't believe my eyes. How could I have been so stupid? I lost everything. So I'm stuck in Canada working from a hotel, and paranoid about what just happened. The only thing I could think of is what I had on the drive. I kept running the inventory of information that was stored on there, tax records, quickbooks files, my presentations, documents, spreadsheets, personal pictures, etc. This was my backup, and for some of the data it was the only copy I had. I called a few companies, but most were back in the states. I had to get this back soon, especially since I had a presentation to give later in the week. Panicking, I kept searching for something, anything to give me hope. Every company I called was the same. Finally I contacted ReStoring Data, and decided to go with them being that they were in close proximity to where I was staying. They took the drive in, diagnosed it, and gave me a quote. I agreed and within 2 days, I had all of my data back. I cannot begin to tell you how big of a relief that was to me. It was a tremendous weight lifted off my shoulders. I'm hoping no one else ever has to go through the nightmare that I did, but if you do lose your data, I highly recommend this company. read more

I had a wonderful experience with ReStoring Data. I had an old MacBook Pro that had been collecting dust for about 6 years after it suddenly died on me. I was afraid to hear that all the pictures and documents on there were completely lost and there was nothing that could be done so I decided the best thing to was nothing lol. Finally, during quarantine I started thinking about my old photos and decided to try to get them back. I did my research and I decided to go with ReStoring Data after reading their reviews and their policies. I contacted them to obtain a quote and they sent me a shipping label as I don't live in Vancouver. They contacted me shortly after they received my laptop and were able to assess the damage. They provided me with a quote, I agreed to it and they got to work. It took a little longer than originally expected as the hard drive was in a really delicate state. Ilana was great at communicating with me, keeping me updated and answering all my questions. Once they were done, I paid exactly what they had quoted me. They shipped my laptop back to me, along with my data in the hard drive and I am sooo happy with the results. Having all my photos back and other things I didn't even remember were on there is priceless! I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who has data recovery needs! read more

One day, I get a BSOD on my computer and I discovered my hard drive was not working properly. I had used RD once before for a customer of mine and they got back most of the data. So I thought I'd use them for myself this time. In a snow storm, I rushed to get the drive out on Friday through their affiliated UPS store but found out later that UPS does not ship out products received after 4:30pm. Note to self.... Tuesday, I get an email saying that it's going to cost $1,275 for standard service and will take eight business days. Ten days later, "...unfortunately we were unable to recover your data. "..."there is a deep scratch on both platters and no data is recoverable." At the time, I was not happy with the terse response. However, on April 28th, I received a follow up call from Monty Peeks (Sales Director at ReStoring Data Inc.) who explained to me, in detail , the amount of time, effort and real cost it took to try and recover the data from my drive. It was only after this explanation, that I fully appreciated the hard work and investment that this company puts forth to try and recover your drive's data even though it doesn't always have a happy ending for either party. So I've changed my rating from 1 star to 5 stars and would use them again if the situation arose. read more

Three weeks ago, one of our largest customers had a cascading hard drive failure on their RAID array. As we were not local to Vancouver, we scoured Yelp for the best data restoration company in the city and found ReStoring Data. Ilana and her team arranged for a courier to pick up our failed drives from the facility and spent the next week working with us to try to recover every last possible bit of restorable data from the various partitions. Her team worked 24 hour shifts until our initial restoration was complete, and they were in constant contact with our systems administrators during the entire process. I have never seen such dedication to one's craft and such incredible customer service. The level of communication was such that by the end of the process, one of our noc technicians thought that ReStoring Data were part of our team. They acted as our hand in Vancouver and we owe them far more than they charged. I personally told Ilana this, but I feel that it should be repeated. We hope that we never have to use a data restoration company again, but if we do, ReStoring Data will be our first call. read more

I have nothing but praises to the Restoring Data team. They were so wonderful in the way they relaxed me after panicking over my lost data, and in the way they handled the whole recovery process. My case manager was very accessible and always very patient and nice. The technicians were so professional and polite, helping me carry my computer up and down the stairs. They explained me what was wrong and what they did in a simple, non-techi language so I could completely understand. I received everything I really needed back plus extra stuff that I marked as "nice to have but nota must". Pricing was fair and reasonable, especially after I understood the type of operation involved in the recovery of my hard drive. Really happy I listened to the recommendation of my IT department and left the computer in Vancouver (otherwise, I would have shipped it to Toronto and who knows what would have happened). I am extremely happy and relieved, and will definitely get my backup practices much better now. read more

ReStoring Data provides an extremely professional, comprehensive, and efficient service. I found it easy to keep in contact with staff, and they were always prompt to answer any questions I had during the recovery. In my communications with them, it was obvious that they truly care about doing their best to recover the lost data by diligently exhausting all possible techniques during the process. Prior to sending my USB to ReStoring Data, I had tried another company, but they were unable to retreive any data at all. ReStoring Data had the added complication of having to perform the recovery as a second attempt. I was so thankful and relieved that, even with this difficult recovery, they were successful in retrieving all of my data! These files and photos are so precious to me, and I am so thankful to the staff for their amazing work. I highly recommend ReStoring Data as a first choice for any data recovery, and I will certainly use their services again in the future. read more

Here from California, my pampered/treated-with-kid-gloves 11 month old, 4 TB HDD WD Passport took a small 2 foot drop on a hard surface (while disconnected/dismounted). My life and sensitive work was locked or lost in that new beeping noise, and that was my only & current back-up device. *TIP: Override every instinct - Do not plug device into any apparatus to 'see if it works on something else'! * After hours of painful research, and inquiries in the states and here ... I chose Vancouver's own ReStoring Data. Wow: Fully recovered, flawlessly. Ilana, Monty, Henrique (the team members I interacted with) - the epitome of professional: clearly exceptional and distinguished specialists with discernment, genuine care, and utmost confidentiality paramount in their work. It is obvious why they continually win awards. read more

After my hard drive crashed I took it to a local computer retailer for repairs and was told it was damaged beyond repair, and that the data was not recoverable. I had five years worth of family photos on the hard drive and decided to get a second opinion, even though they told me I was wasting my time and offered to recycle the damaged hard drive for me. I took the hard drive to Restoring Data and within a day was told the data was recoverable, I was given a written quote and a timeline for completion. It was ready on time, the staff was very friendly and pleasant to deal with, and while it was a lot to pay, it was less than some other places have quoted on their websites. Getting the family photos back was worth it though, and I highly recommend this company for anyone who suffers a loss of data. read more

First off, I want to express my gratitude to the Restoring Data team! I'm so thankful that ALL my files were recovered! I had over 11 years of files and photos that needed to be recovered. I accidentally formatted my hard drive and was devastated to say the least. I Googled for hours, and was convinced I wouldn't be able to get my files back. As I was Googling, I came across Restoring Data. I read the reviews and saw they offered a quote. I dropped off my hard drive and within 24 hours, I got an estimate. I went ahead with the recovery and they recovered ALL my files and it was completed on the expected date. I'm so happy with the service, turn around time, and professionalism. I would highly recommend Restoring Data!!! I can see why they won numerous awards! Well deserved! Thanks again!!!! read more

Restoring Data literally saved my business! I had a multi-drive failure and they were able to extract all 4.6 TB of my data; without corruption. This was one of the most terrifying experiences I've had so far in my career (I now have the inspiration to be more diligent with my backups), and I am so pleased I found this company! I felt I could trust Ilana immediately upon meeting her, and she kept me informed throughout the entire process and answered ALL of my questions. I couldn't be more thankful for their work. They truly are at the top of their game, as industry experts (I did my research), and all of my expectations were exceeded. Excellent value, honest company and skilful at retrieving data from complicated failures; with proprietary systems (DROBO). read more

A couple of days ago I had a hard drive fail on an XPS 13. Situation much worse when I realized my backup external drive was damaged: files unreadable. UBC Arts IT suggested ReStoring Data and I'm glad they did. Great experience. Quick evaluation: file structure corruption in my case. 24 hours later they'd done a logic reassembly and restored virtually all files. ReStoring Data really worked for me in part because they offer delivery time/price tiers. I needed to be back in action ASAP, and it all happened very fast. I obviously also appreciate that they have the technological wherewithal to make it happen. I'd definitely recommend them to colleagues, friends and family. read more

We tried in the Dominican Republic, we tried in DC, we tried in New York, and we tried in Montreal, but nobody seemed to be able to help us recover our files from our 2 destroyed hard drives (at least not for anything affordable for anything but a multinational corporation.) Finally we rolled up in Vancouver and found this place. They were so professional and quick. One hard drive they got the files off almost immediately. The other needed a little more work. One week later we had ALL of our files back for a VERY affordable price. Not to mention that everyone was very friendly and super professional. Thanks so much guys for being so cool. read more

OK. I do not leave reviews unless service is really bad or really good. Who has the time? In this case, I am delighted to review and would give 10 stars. They were professional, communicative, and best of all successful in recovering all of 78Gb of data stored on a back up hard drive. This included many files of photos backed up from a prior computer that we no longer have. AND, they delivered them in the same files/order that they were stored. AND, they delivered the recovered files in a new 1TB back up drive at a reasonable cost. LIke I said, look no further if you are in need of recovery services. honestly. read more

My computer would not boot up properly. I took it to a computer service in Richmond B.C. After several weeks I was told that the unit could not be repaired and no data could be recovered. I then went to ReStoring Data on Beatty Street in Vancouver. Within a day I was informed that likely all the data could be recovered - and then it was. The cost was very reasonable and the service was so professional, friendly and of course competent. I very highly recommend ReStoring Data if you need your data recovered! Should I ever need data recovered in the future, I will go no where else. read more

I had this corrupt hard drive sitting around for over 10 years and finally decided to see i could recover the files, especially the baby photos of my son. I, foolishly, did not make backup copies of these files. The Dynex external enclosure fried the HD. I did not realize it was a problem with the enlosure until I installed a second HD, it fried that too! Stay away from those crappy Dynex products! Anyway, ReStoring Data managed to recover all 265GB of data! Including all the photos! I am very happy about it! The price was reasonable too! Highly recommended! read more

We had an issue with one of my clients USB Stick. I called around and found ReStoring Data. I spoke to the a very nice representative, and she gave me few options to recover the data of the USB Stick. The process was quick and they even paid for the shipping to send them the media drive. The recovery cost was much lower then other companies, however the service was way beyond what I expected. They recovered all the files without any issues. I was extremely pleased with the overall process and the price. Highly recommended!!! read more

The service and professionalism of this firm was beyond expectations. I found ReStoring through Yelp and checked with the BBB too as I was very concerned about the confidentiality of our data. We wanted a VERY reputable firm. We lost 20 years of work after a virus attached itself to a well-known software we upgraded and our backup drive was compromised in a move. They recovered everything, economically, and within a very reasonable time frame. I would highly recommend ReStoring without question. read more

Restoring Data saved my girlfriend's data after her USB stick containing a ton of important work documents and presentations kicked the bucket. We needed the data urgently the following week, requested a rush, and received the files within 2 business days. The best part, if they couldn't recover the data, there would be no charge. Nothing to lose really, and these guys saved the day for my girlfriend. Give them a shot if you're in a similar situation. read more
