When I originally signed up, I made it clear that I did not want to be locked into a contract. I was told I could pay through my bank account and cancel my membership whenever I chose. Based on that understanding, I enrolled. Recently, I received a call informing me that I owed $68 because my account was past due. Since I hadn't used the gym in well over a year, I told them I wanted to cancel my membership. To my surprise, I was informed that I was required to provide a 30-day notice and would still be charged for two additional billing cycles. I then went to the gym in person, expecting the cancellation process to be straightforward. Instead, I was told they could not cancel my membership at the front desk. Even though I was standing there requesting cancellation, I was instructed to either submit a written request or create an online account and complete the cancellation myself. It was frustrating to be told that my in-person request wasn't sufficient. I also requested a copy of my membership agreement and noticed that my name was not even spelled correctly on the contract. What disappointed me most was the overall customer service. After being a paying member for several years--even though I hadn't used the facility for quite some time--I expected a simple, professional cancellation process. Instead, I felt like unnecessary obstacles were placed in my way. During my visit, I expressed my frustration with the situation, but I remained respectful. I did not yell, threaten anyone, or use profanity. Despite that, I later received an email from the owner warning that law enforcement would be contacted if there were any further issues. I found that response unnecessary and disappointing. This review reflects my personal experience. I encourage anyone considering a membership to carefully review the cancellation policy before signing up and to fully understand the billing terms. No duct tape holing equipment seats together. Classes- I have not attended any, but I am familiar with the instructors and they all are amazing. (Dalys, Stephanie, and Jamine) Ohhh chil I had to get outta there, me and my phone were melting. You may be able to find them on Facebook and Instagram. LA fitness provides multiple locations in my city, which is convenient and does not give me an excuse for not going. They also have multiple locations throughout the US - from Cali to Pr. I'm in Orlando and Chicago often and having multiple gyms in those cities is amazing (again, not excuse for not getting in there) Locker room- as I was coming in there was a cleaner, locker room is clean. The lady that checked me in wasn't so pleasant so that's part of my star bump. Didn't really get that welcome feeling with her when I mentioned I was a Nationwide Member. The locker rooms were easy to access and very cooled down. Men's locker rooms had a middle room for lounging. The towels here are super large (instead of the normal sweat towels). There's one enclosed room with weight machines, and then a larger open room with smith machines, dumbbells, bench, incline, pulley machines, treadmills/ellipticals and a cardio training zone. They also have an outdoor covered astroturf cardio zone. There is a large heated pool, basketball court and separate studio rooms for fitness classes. My only gripe is that front desk lady and the limited benches they have. Otherwise, this is a solid gym option!
