I recently discovered that the same parent company owns FS8 and F45 training. FS8, which is a blend…read moreof Pilates/yoga/tone in Thousand Oaks (which opened up early Feb of this year), definitely kicked my butt, so I decided to see what f45 offered. F45 is a cardio/resistance training blend. For an intro offer of $25 for 5 classes, I decided to see if this place would kick my butt, too. I met one of the instructors, Cara, who was very helpful and showed me around the place. There's a Pilates class in the back room and a sauna that you can use if you join for the F45 membership, plus an extra fee. Cara explained that the screens would show the movements we were to mirror, but she also told me to go at my own pace and helped me with my form during several of the stations. I went around the room 3 times (15 minutes total, 45 seconds at each station plus 15 seconds to transition to the next station) to get in a very sweaty 45-minute workout. I used to think I was in decent shape. F45 training laughed in my face as I prayed for the 45-second exercise to end, so I could transition to another 45-second exercise that I also wished were over. Somehow, I made it through the workout, humbled. This place is high energy and definitely challenges you mentally and physically. I look forward to continuing my F45 training journey!

There are two main reasons why I give F45 Training a Five Star rating…read more The first reason: these workouts aren't boring. That's super important because most exercise bores me. And if it's boring, I'm not going to want to do it. But that's never an issue at F45. I've found every session to be different enough that I never get bored. The classes are really well-designed. You know when you sign up what the focus of your class will be. There are usually 10 stations that you complete in 45 minutes, but the exercises at each station are different every class. Each station has two different exercises, typically one for the upper body, one for the lower body. You can choose to do either or both. The second, and most important, reason I give this gym a Five Star Rating is the trainers that work here. Especially the early morning staff, Josie, Lauren and Sarah. There are usually at least two trainers working every class. They continuously circulate around the room, so you never have to wait long for one to come by and check to see if your form is correct or if you need a modification. If you have difficulty doing an exercise, a trainer will instantly modify it or give you an alternative exercise. And that's another reason F45 gets 5 stars from me. See, I can actually do very few of the exercises as demonstrated. I need modifications at almost every station. But I know that in less than a minute a trainer will pass by and quickly modify the activity into something I can actually do. So, I always get a great workout here. F45 Training really is a great place to workout. The trainers that work here are incredibly supportive. There is a really positive, high energy, vibe here. Sessions often end with people high-fiving each other. I love that! Mikey C says: I highly recommend F45 Training!

They get vendors/businesses from the local community to come for the members offering possible solutions. I wanted to become a Vendor end of April. Now I have a business that Requires my Service Animal (DOG) named Soier. Recently CAPRI ( operations manager) denied Soier & I to be a vendor @ this gym. What's doesn't make sense is Soier has been in there SEVERAL TIMES...multiple times a week sometimes just to say hello to staff EVEN HER & why ...because EVERYONE LOVES Soi, he's a very good well behaved pup. ALL the staff here loves him & it's always Great after working out to pop by & say hello well on one of our walks! Staff loves it. FREE SEROTONIN! So when it came time to be a vendor 99% was cool with it, some actually looking forward to it. The only person that's not on board was CAPRI. She shut it down real quick when I called her. Stating "Anxiety" is not a service animal that's emotional, tone was VERY RUDE & I'm not the one, but she's WRONG! So after a lovely conversation with CAPRI, I ended the call from all the stupidity. It's very HYPOCRITICAL actions when CAPRI has not only allowed to let him in serval times with out question, but she has LET ME WALK HIM THROUGH THE ENTIRE GYM WITH ME, ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK INTO THE LOCKER ROOMS TO GRAB MY BAG ONE DAY FROM A LOCKER, because she didn't want to hold him upfront real quick by leash. So Just very hypocritical actions on her part., to start asking questions not allowing him in, just ONLY when I want to be a vendor. Very poor customer service & over all UNPROFESSIONAL. Then I had a rep at LA FITNESS tell me when I went in to workout that after the call she ran to the Sales department & said "IM OVER BRIAN!" shaking her head all mad. Yea very professional CAPRI (Operations "Manager") Shouldn't have done that, NOT A GOOD LOOK. Just wanted to exposed the hypocrisy & unprofessionalism as a whole only her end. Moving forward, I'm no longer taking Soier in there BY CHOICE. This is ridiculous. As of the other 99.9% of the staff there, you guys ROCK! "Team Soier!" But sorry no more free serotonin.

All of the classes have been great because it's never been too crowded like a big box gym and since it is a small gym, the members have grown into a gym family where everyone knows each other :) The gym also offers a weight room upstairs for the strength workouts and has a few machines downstairs such as the stair master, elliptical and treadmill for the cardio workouts. The front desk staff, Art and Aileen (sp?), have been welcoming and informative. Ask about their contract options and student discounts :) Also, massage therapy is offered by Rocksteady Fitness and I had an amazing massage by Melissa who let me know more about the muscles and a couple kinks in my body :D

I'd much rather do an hour of Turbo Kick with Melissa than run an hour alone! Also there is a FREE Zumba class Tuesday nights at 7:30pm. It gets pretty crowded but it's definitely worth checking out!
