We had a fire in Early December 2020. Before the fire department left, if fact long before the fire department left, we had four representatives of restoration companies show up at our house asking for our business. It was completely overwhelming. The representative of Restoration XP was knowledgeable, personable, and impressive, so we went with that company. We generally liked the work they did packing up our belongings to be inventoried and either cleaned or reported to the insurance company as a loss. We also loved the construction contractor they used for our job.
Unfortunately the manager of the company was a new hire and did not work out. Apparently he caused a lot of chaos and bad feelings with some of the employees. He left in the middle of our job, as did at least two other employees, including our project manager and the contents manager. The company also moved to a new location in Carrollton. After our construction was completed we learned that our construction contractor, who we loved, had decided not to work with Restoration XP anymore.
The company stored our property in large wooden vaults, and they misplaced several of our vaults during their move to a new warehouse.
We moved back into our house in June 2021, but the move back in was somewhat chaotic. One of our pieces of furniture, a cherry finish end table, still smelled like smoke, so we sent it back to be recleaned. It was never returned to us, and still has not been accounted for. We also found we had in our returned property blankets that weren't ours. We have no idea where they came from, and although we reported this to Restoration XP, they never came by to pick them up. Other items of ours, like a signed book, disappeared and are still missing. We waited months for items to be located, and six vaults of total loss property were eventually found, including several vintage hats that we wanted to keep.
As of January 2022 the end table is still missing, but has not been reported as a loss to insurance, and other items are missing, but I went ahead and paid the remainder of the invoice because we just wanted to put this behind us.
My wife and I have somewhat mixed feelings. Many of the employees were great and were very helpful, but the company was just in turmoil. If we had it to do over again I think we would go with some national chain. read more
