They have really made improvements. The clubhouse bathrooms have been renovated, the greens were no longer burned out and rolled really nice (fast too), the tee boxes were in decent shape as well as the fairways. Driving range mats need replacing, and the bunkers on 16 were terrible (one closed for repair) but aside from that I had no complaints. I will be adding Restion National back into the rotation. read more

I spent a beautiful Sunday out on the Reston National Golf Course and enjoyed my time a lot. There was ample parking upon arrival and our golf carts were ready to go for us when we arrived. It was really nice that each cart had a GPS map, a little cooler for drinks and you could order on there. Some of the green was muddy but only a couple of pockets. The terrain seemed like a nice challenge as there were hills, sand pockets and bushes. It was interesting to have to go across streets and see so many homes along the path but what can you do. My only feedback would be that after ordering food it took a very long time for them to get to us and we were almost finished by that time. Oh, and also the cart girl was friendly! All in all, I would definitely come back for a day outside at this golf course. read more

I only play here because it's a 6 minute drive away, but I continue to be impressed with how poorly this course is managed. Half the tee boxes are dirt with splotches of grass, and many of the greens the same. Some greens recently had 5 foot wide tracks of mud running the entirety of the surface. The pace of play is also NOTORIOUSLY slow. Expect to play 5-6 hour rounds, with no help from Marshals. Now they want to shorten the course and build high-density housing on it to get some ROI for their investors. How about actually taking care of the course to generate more revenue!? Sell the damn thing to someone who cares! read more

So bumpy that your putt is hopping around like a bunny ~I saw a sign for one bathroom, but did not see a facility? (not sure if the portapotty was taken away or something) ~You come back to the club house at the turn, so you can grab a snack or drink At first, I thought maybe the poor maintenance was due to the colder weather, but even in nicer weather, these conditions would not get any better without more effort put into their maintenance. It's been a while since I golfed at Reston National. They have a nice driving range and a good putting area. They have challenging greens. The fairways are feeling the effects of the local drought. The course itself is in average condition for mid April but the clubhouse is badly in need of maintenance and improvement. Duct tape holding doors open, commodes that don't flush, paint and tiles cracked, outside tables falling to pieces, etc. It's sad to see the significant deterioration compared to past years. read more

Do not come here on a Friday unless you have 6 hours to dedicate to a round of golf. They have been guilty of booking tee times too close together for years. i thought things would change when the new management company took over. It hasn't. And today's marshall was beyond worthless. Conveniently located with lots of potential of a really nice course. Figured we go out for a round on a Monday thinking it wouldn't be too busy. Well, it wasn't busy at all as we pulled up to a parking lot with less than 10 vehicles. We didn't come across anyone other players and were on a great pace of play until we creeped up on to a group that made the last 6 holes last almost 2 hours. It was ridiculous...there were no concern from staff for the pace of play or by the looks of the conditions...the course at all. Bunkers looked like someone build sand castles in them. It may have been a slow cold day and this is how it is...but pretty unacceptable for $60 a round of this condition. May try another time if no other courses are available. Enjoy! read more

Played here on 8/13/24. Course was in terrible shape: many large dirt patches on the fairways, dirt patches on the fringe, crabgrass on the 9th hole fringe, very long rough right off the fairways. Sadly, this course used to be quite nice. Not sure what happened. The best response from management isn't to say sorry and try us again, it's to refund the fee and fix the course. read more

Nice layout with bags of potential but the course condition is shocking (but not surprised given the amount of traffic they have out here) and a round takes forever unless you get out really early. The range seems to constantly get closed down as they run out of range balls at peak times. It's really frustrating.They get by on having a great location for a public course. Had a great time here today. They let me play as a single (surprisingly). The course is in pretty good shape, with only some minor bad spots due to recent rains. The holes offer a bit of a challenge, but nothing crazy. Pretty straight forward and easy to manage. Fairways are wide and easily hit if you drive the ball straight. Service was okay. A little peeved I couldn't at least start the back nine before they made me turn the cart in. It was only 6:30. Still a solid three to four holes of daylight left. Overall nice time, I'll definitely play again. Might be even consider moving my membership from another club to here. read more

I am a horrible golfer, but my friends tell me that the course is decent. I felt the grounds are well kept and we had no issues with any insects, which I'm highly thankful for. My only gripe is that there was a groundskeeper that 'followed' my group around for maybe 5 holes, clearing out leaves. I know I said I'm a horrible golfer, I don't need complete silence, but I didn't appreciate the loud roar of a commercial blowing hanging about. I know he was just doing his job, but that was some seriously horrible timing. I was thankful for the various water stations that had cold water because that day, it was a bit steamy out. The marshal definitely has the front 9 covered, but we didn't see him again until we were at the clubhouse. **I think they have good hotdogs and I really enjoyed the three different kinds of relish they offered. read more

Sad little muni golf course with zero capital investment as of late and which is literally falling apart. Was at driving range recently and ball machine broke and nobody new what to do. The machine look like it should be in a museum. Pro shop/Service is spotty and everything is bottom notch. I guess the price is right and it is an ok place to start golf or teach a child. Place is falling apart with recent changes. So many bunkers filled with rocks and not being maintained. Many greens were real spotty. Definitely not worth the price we paid with the current shape of the course. They need a real starter, marshal and a new maintenance crew ASAP. Sad seeing this place fall apart. read more

Ridiculous to charge $90 for this place. Crab grass fairways, worst bunkers I've ever seen and over run. You can tell they just pack in as many rounds as possible and do not manage expectations of guests. Greens are sooooo bumpy. Maybe they should sell and make it condos/housing/retail. read more

absolutely the worst golfing experience. Started off terribly with no driver allowed on the DRIVING range. Was greeted by a manager on hole 5 saying we needed to skip to hole 9 in order to accommodate a youth tournament. Once we got to hole 10 (after skipping 3 holes) we were held up and then the tournament had caught up to us and we were asked by a manager to leave. Manager was extremely rude to us and only offered us a rain check for 9, despite the fact that we only played 6 holes. Don't understand why they allowed us to schedule a tee time that they know would be effected by the tournament. Prices to not reflect the quality of the golf course, have played much nicer courses for far cheaper. I advise staying away from this absolute joke of a golf course. I recommend playing at Herndon Centennial. read more

I've played there twice in the last month. Quick bullet points below. Walkability: The course is walkable. It's not too hilly and most of the courses are close to each other. One of the later holes on the back nine has a long walk but that's it. Course condition: Excellent. The rough is pretty lush and it's kind of hard to find your ball because the grass is so thick. Green and fairways are excellent condition. Layout: I liked it. It's a good challenge for experienced players. It's definitely not a course for a newbie (Pinecrest is probably better) but I think novice to advanced players will like it. The fairways are not extremely tight so you have some room for error off the tees. And a lot of the green don't have crazy tiers. And they are a decent number of water coolers placed throughout the course. read more

Decent course but ridiculously overpriced for what it is. This is not an $80 course during the week and certainly not $90 on the weekend. They don't have twilight rates or even 9 hole rates. If you want to play on a Tuesday at 4PM its $64...to walk... seems like these guys are just trying to push the locals out to drive business down until they convince the Fairfax county to change the land usage so they can turn it into condos and townhouses. read more

Course is very average at best on top of that, no water anywhere, greens decent, and bunkers have pebbles and rocks. Not worth $90 certainly not with that pace of play. Was going to do 18 today but after a 3 hr front 9 with two calls to the pro shop about pace of play and them telling me the people in front aren't slow. "They are just waiting for someone to join them" so they are slow and slowing down the pace of play. Let others play through might have been a good option. It wasn't too bad. Some of the holes were hard (and this is coming from a person who has been golfing for 10 years), which I don't mind. The service is good with the COVID-19 and all. The cart I had (I don't know if this was common with all), #79 I believe, had trouble braking sometimes. Overall, I would recommend this place. read more

Again a solid layout and the conditions are usually good. But I've had 6 hour rounds here a couple of times. Last time we played it was on a weekend over the summer and it was just over 5 hours. Still ridiculous. The practice green is good. The range is not worth what they charge. It's short, you can't see how far you're hitting after 120 yards, and they use limited flight range balls. Plus most of those range balls need to be replaced. The only thing this place has going for it is location. There aren't many public courses or places to practice in the immediate area which is a shame. That's probably why Reston National can charge what they do. read more

I was lucky enough to find an ad online about the Nike training center at the Reston golf. I signed up for a training package, which included classes with a golf pro, play with the pro sessions, and great discounts to be able to practice on my own. Kat was a fantastic coach and I truly saw the results. While the package can be perceived as a bit expensive compared to surrounding golf courses, the benefits included are so great, it really makes a difference. The golf course itself is very well maintained and the staff is wonderful. I love playing there and look forward to going back. read more

Wow, I am so appalled by the poor service quality at this place. Anyone who makes reservations here be aware! Since the new management took over they hired a bunch of unprofessional staff who are not familiar with membership and I was charged extra fee to my credit card. When I brought it to their attention they said they can't do anything about overcharged credit card, told me to call the credit card and asked me to leave. I'm terribly disappointed and definitely not coming back here. So be careful everyone, don't say you haven't been warned! read more

The range balls are a joke, they should not be charging the public for range golf balls the balls are really atrocious. If you goto oak marr golf range the ball quality is night and day. It's sad that Reston has balls that you should not be hitting with!! read more

I played this course for the first time on June 22, and I was really impressed. First off, the price was reasonable: $49 with cart for a 2:30pm tee time. That's not amazing, but let's face it: golf is an expensive "sport." Yes, I have a hard time calling golf a sport... just like NASCAR and bowling--deal with it. Second, the course was in amazing shape. I was playing with three friends. Two of us played the tips, the other two played the next set of tees up from the tips. I found every tee box to be in really good shape, 8.5 out of 10, with a could boxes needing to be leveled flat. The fairways looked great, and the rough was fair. And the greens were in fantastic shape, although they could have been rolled. They didn't have 50+ un-repaired ball marks, but were a shade on the slower side. Third, the cart girl came around frequently. I think that we saw her 5 times during our round. And to see the cart girl at 7pm is always nice. Most of them pack it in early, leaving you without liquid refreshment (read: beer, aka swing destroyer... I was toasted by the 14th hole). The course itself is fairly open, and you probably won't lose too many balls (only one hole with water in play). It wasn't a terribly challenging course, so you can probably stroke (haha, golf joke) your ego with good scoring opportunities. The pace of play was slightly slow, taking around 4:45 to get around the course. But, a) it's a public course, and b) with the increase in golfers, get used to longer rounds... everywhere. I recently visited VA for my cousin's wedding. His reception was at the Sheraton so most of the out-of-town guests stayed at the hotel. With your hotel stay comes a guest rate for the golf course across the street. Regular price to play was $95 (I think); we paid the guest rate of $65. If I had to pay $95 to play here, my rating would be lower, but since it was $65, I'd say it wasn't too bad. I'll have to agree on the pace of this place, although we were playing pretty slow, I'd say everyone was playing slower. The course itself was pretty nice and presented a good challenge, but I've seen better. One thing that stood out was the gas powered golf carts. I've played golf at a lot of different places and that's the first time I've had to use gas powered carts. I love the nostalgia factor but hate the huge distraction it caused when trying to hit my ball. After the round, we stopped by the snack bar and had some burgers. They're burgers were excellent and the staff was super friendly. Like I said earlier, if I had to pay more, I'd be disappointed, but we really got what we paid for. A decent round of golf at a decent price, at a decent course. Decent = 3(ish). read more

Badly managed...The course is pretty scenic, however, try to find a parking space in the afternoon after work...The lot is small and it almost always full. Allow me to be the first to give this place 1 star. I waited almost SIX long hours to do it. This after 15 minutes for 4 to check in while the front desk guy fielded phone calls. 3PM tee time, teed off at 4PM. Backed up by 8's for the first five holes. 2:45 front 9. We played 18 in the dark. This place is run by the same Einstein's that run Virginia Oaks and it's the same story over there. This is no way to run a golf course and I would not recommend this course to anyone. The course is really nice and well kept, but you'll be too pissed off to enjoy it. read more
