Confession time. I haven't been to the Living Green Café in several years. My friends have kept…read moreurging me to eat something from there, so when the opportunity came up to pop in and grab breakfast, I took it. The last time I was there, they still had a market, so I was quite surprised when I walked in and saw all the seating available and no more market. There are still nice tables outside as well. The café is in the middle of a transition I was told. They are adding a wine bar, a full kitchen to make hot breakfast, and additional seating. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly, and I ordered a lox bagel sandwich. I usually do not have lox with lettuce, but as it was premade, I still decided to give it a try. He toasted the bagel and packed it away in a most lovely container to go. The sandwich was delicious! I will never make a face seeing greens in my lox sandwich ever again. Both the lettuce and tomato were crisp, fresh, and packed with flavor. The smoked salmon was ample and very fresh. The bagel itself was also great. I will definitely be back, and I especially look forward to being able to order a hot breakfast when their full remodel is complete.

It feels comfortable, relaxed, and has a lot more personality than the typical café. The staff was friendly, the place had a really good energy, and overall it just felt welcoming. We were just going to grab something to go and ended up staying for a while. Oh, and did I mention they have wine?

They serve sandwiches, pita's, smoothies and more. I tried their chicken pita, and it was large and a great energy fuel after my Pilates class. They usually have one or two workers at the front. Inside the restaurant was cute and a little funky. However, it seemed off that evening. I noticed that many of the tables hadn't been cleaned off. Chairs were not neatly tucked in. The dining room looked in disarray. Yet, there was no one else there. If I hadn't read the good reviews on here, I would've just left. We found a clean table, and we had to ask the server for menus. The salads we ordered were good, but they needed more dressing. The ingredients were fresh, and I genuinely did enjoy the food. However, the state of the dining room and inattentive service set a not-so-great vibe. Perhaps it's different earlier in the day. Perhaps it was an off night.

It's on a bed of rice with, sliced carrots, kale, cherry tomatoes, and chicken pesto. I found the kale and carrots add a nice texture and crunch. The cherry tomatoes add flavor and a nice acid. This complements the chicken very well while topped with litght cheese. I also found the chicken portion to be very healthy. Overall a great bowl, and no wonder it's their number one seller. I'll definitely be back again to try more of the menu. They also have sweet breads and carrots if you have a sweet tooth for dessert. There is plenty of additional parking in the back if needed. Their first location is in Oakland Park and it was where I met Natasha during a Yelp event. They have now expanded to Tamarac and this location in the Park Plaza Shopping Center in Federal Hwy in Pompano Beach. Mederos has said "We would love to keep expanding. We want to spread healthy eating at an affordable price." The last time I was at a TropiBowls I had the Sunshine State Açaí Bowl with kiwi, pineapple, strawberries, almonds, granola, honey, and shaved coconut served inside of a hollowed-out frozen pineapple, Açaí (pronounced aa·saa·ee) is from the acai palm tree, which is native to Central and South America. Açaí is considered a super food with anti-aging and weight loss properties. Its pulp is even richer in antioxidants than cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, or blueberries. The berry has been eaten for thousands of years by indigenous people in the Amazon but it recently became popular when the Gracie family, famous for their Brazilian jiujitsu gyms, invented frozen açaí bowl in the late 1980s. They found the fruit to be low in sugar, full of vitamins and antioxidants, and an energy booster. Unfortunately it had an earthy flavor that reminded some people of dirt. To mask the flavor they flash froze the pulp and berries and used it as a smoothie base mixed with sweeter fruits that masked the flavor. The texture is similar to a sorbet. Now there are açaí bars all over Brazil where you can get it topped with all kinds of fruits, granola, and nuts. Some people eat it as a refreshing breakfast. In addition to açaí, TropiBowls also has pitaya, coconut, green, and oatmeal bowls along with coffee, tea, cold pressed juices, smoothies, avocado toast, egg sandwiches, wraps, rice bowls, and signature salads. On this visit I decided on the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap made with spring mix, tomatoes, onions, grilled chicken, ranch, bacon and cheese, ($11.99). My sandwich was excellent. I like how they grilled the wrap after it was filled with tender white meat chicken, fresh vegetables, and a tasty ranch sauce. TropiBowls makes it easy to eat food that tastes good and that is good for you. I can't wait to see where they pop up next.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more While northbound during my adventure home the day after my first Yelp (Elite) event in Miami at Grand Public, which I must thank Sofi for inviting me to, I was feeling quite peckish especially being initially booted back at the front gate of the community which the Hillsborough Lighthouse is located (more on that in the Hillsborough Lighthouse review). There were plenty of restaurants near the Hillsborough Lighthouse, including a Thai, Greek, overall Asian, and Italian place. But I opted for something lighter because I would indulge in BBQ for another Yelp event later that day in West Palm Beach. Ergo, I found a health food/smoothie cafe in the same plaza as the other restaurants called Bambu Juice Bar (which I will shorthand simply to Bambu for the remainder of this review). For what I wanted and needed at the time, I got good service, delicious food, all at a fantastic price, too. Though an address is provided, Bambu is located on the westside of Hillsborough Inlet Plaza, a strip mall with numerous other ethnic-centered restaurants you must try one day or another. On the outside, Bambu blends with the architecture of the strip mall, but they have highlights that make them stand out including the vibrant-colored beach furniture and the beach-themed window paintings and decor. Inside, more of that beachlife decor, which includes a high-table made out of a surfboard, which is where I decided to sit and enjoy my food. Going with a simple meal and a smoothie, I ordered the Monkey Business Smoothie and Fruit-Topped Peanut Butter Toast. Trust me, it was very filling and the price was around $20 total for both which is actually cheaper than I expected for such healthy food. On a sidenote: I am unsure if the restroom was clean and stocked or not as it was "Out of Order." Given the fact it was the only restroom in the restaurant, it can be a deal breaker if patrons what to stay or leave with their food. Ultimately, I am going to give Bambu four-out-of-five stars. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the vibe was definitely fitting of a juice bar. Given the fact I wasn't able to go to the Hillsborough Lighthouse, I might be coming back here again eventually, and if they are just as good as they were before, then I will give them their fifth star for consistency.
