With that single letter change comes a menu of --- dinner --- proportions; From tasty and smart appetizers like beet hummus and Chorizo pops to a signature (recipe) onion soup, then onto a fresh revisited Caesar salad leading into AAA steak, various seafood and butter soft chicken dishes. Stands outs are the shrimp with saffron rice and fresh and distinguished (beef or salmon) tartar. Two dishes that are sure to warm you up are the seafood chowder which is bisque based but still quite filling, and their Poutine which is over the top huge - comes in about and 8" iron skillet and fit for two or three to share. I definitely only made a dent in it. Note to self Poutine is much heavier when toppings added. Don't forget their excellent and sizeable chocolate lava cake to top it all off, but probably not on the night you order a Poutine for dinner. In that case they have a fruit plate (both in individual and group sizes). The family who run the restaurant being on site, makes for a good ambiance and surely shows their pride. In sum for a brunch restaurant to even attempt opening in the evening - shows real dedication - if there was such a thing a bonus star for that, they would get it. I hope with continued hard work the goals come true. Their dinner offering is more than could be expected, and of a quality that deserves tasting - not only imagining. The app was pointing to this nearby place and little did I know it's sort of like a Quebecois A&W that keeps late hours. It appears that this is a newer store to replace an older one. There is an outdoor terrace, a spacious ordering area, and a very nice dining room for this genre, complete with a crazy inscription (to an American) on the wall saying "Salut, mes p'tites frites." What? "Greetings, my little fries?" There was a fair bit of selection on Lafleur's menu. However, I wasn't looking for a hamburger. I settled on a chicken sandwich combination, but upgraded the fries to onion rings, perhaps as an excuse to say "rondelles d'oignon." Realistically, it's because I eat them so infrequently and wasn't expecting to converse with anyone. Everything tasted fairly good. I received good counter service at Lafleur. The personnel could tell I was not from the area nor familiar with their offerings. What is it with fast food and coffeehouse service in suburban areas of Quebec? It's reliably polite and up to the task! There can be marginal service at enough fast food places in the States, especially if a grittier locale. The prices were fine after being converted to U.S. currency, but the hefty sales taxes push it up. The Canadian government doesn't discriminate and even corrals us foreigners into paying for their national health care system through sales taxes. If transiting on fast and wide Cote-de-Liesse or wanting to get a bite outside the airport property, Lafleur ought to work. It won't be a haven for vegetarians and vegans, though. I think that, for fast food, eating one's food on the outdoor terrace and watching the traffic whizz by on a temperate day might actually be enjoyable.
