This place, Lafleur on Cote-de-Liesse near YUL, was like a mirage. Where is there on this major thoroughfare through an industrial area to put something down the hatch to tide me over at a later hour? The app was pointing to this nearby place and little did I know it's sort of like a Quebecois A&W that keeps late hours. It appears that this is a newer store to replace an older one. There is an outdoor terrace, a spacious ordering area, and a very nice dining room for this genre, complete with a crazy inscription (to an American) on the wall saying "Salut, mes p'tites frites." What? "Greetings, my little fries?" There was a fair bit of selection on Lafleur's menu. However, I wasn't looking for a hamburger. I settled on a chicken sandwich combination, but upgraded the fries to onion rings, perhaps as an excuse to say "rondelles d'oignon." Realistically, it's because I eat them so infrequently and wasn't expecting to converse with anyone. Everything tasted fairly good. I received good counter service at Lafleur. The personnel could tell I was not from the area nor familiar with their offerings. What is it with fast food and coffeehouse service in suburban areas of Quebec? It's reliably polite and up to the task! There can be marginal service at enough fast food places in the States, especially if a grittier locale. The prices were fine after being converted to U.S. currency, but the hefty sales taxes push it up. The Canadian government doesn't discriminate and even corrals us foreigners into paying for their national health care system through sales taxes. If transiting on fast and wide Cote-de-Liesse or wanting to get a bite outside the airport property, Lafleur ought to work. It won't be a haven for vegetarians and vegans, though. I think that, for fast food, eating one's food on the outdoor terrace and watching the traffic whizz by on a temperate day might actually be enjoyable. read more

Definitely not the best meal in Montreal but great was to try the local favorites on the cheap. Poutine was a little bland compared to others. Didn't like the slaw on the dogs and the fries were soggy. Definitely a line to order but food came out quick and we were on our way. read more

Another one of our childhood favourites worthy of a triple Quest. A straight forward, no-nonsense, classic casse-croûte that serves simple items with simple classic recipes and knocks every one of them out of the park. Nothing is overdone or complicated. It is just right. A perfectly cooked and steamed Hot Dog, a signature Hamburger with incredible condiment and topping balance and a classic, greasy Poutine with homemade style fries and the emblematic, quintessential sauce. They all have their own unique taste, you always know Lafleur food when you're eating it. It never waivers in quality. It is always consistently amazing. Everytime. Never had dog like this. Love it!!! I tried the all dressed with paprika (as I read the locals do) and the Michigan style (with chili and cheese) First the all dressed. At first I thought what is this little thing? But that little thing packs a powerful punch. It was goooood. Almost melted in my mouth as soon as it got in. And for $1.85 Canadian it's a steal. Next the Michigan, this threw me for a loop. I'm a Cupid's chili dog guy, and the chili here just can't hold up to that standard, it's a bit too tomato saucey for me. For a second I was upset, but that's when the creamy flavor of the American cheese kicked and and it all worked, more than worked, it was darn good. Also tried the fries, very good. But what makes this place magically is the experience. This nice French Canadian lady took my order, and then started yelling in French my order to the cooks. It was AMAZING!!! Kind like a French Canadian version of Balushi's cheeseboorger skit on SNL I thoroughly enjoyed this spot as a tourist. But if I lived here, I'd be here all the time. I was driving by the area and was so hungry that I did a quit pit stop. My sister and I shared a poutine and hot dogs. The poutine was pretty good, although the gravy was a little sweet. The regular hot dog was good, but I wasn't a fan of the meat sauce one. Service was very fast. read more

Coming back from the airport from my vacation in April 2016, my friend who was giving me a lift back to my place and I decided to stop off her for something to eat. This place is one of the fast food places that have the deep friend thick cut french fries which are not grocery store bought and like the thick fries your parents used to cut and make. I'm a fan of these types of fries. I prefer these types of fries over the fries from the 5 major Canadian fast food restaurants (McDonalds, Harveys, Wendys, Burger King, or A&W). I really like "Italian Poutines" over "regular" Poutines so I opted for their "Poutine with Michigan Sauce". The Poutine with Michigan Sauce is basically french fries, a bolognaise style sauce (meat based tomato sauce) and cheese curds. I found their "Poutine with Michigan Sauce" to be very good. The negative thing about this place (provided that you like fast food) is that inside the restaurant, you eat at the counter (standing up). If you want to eat inside the restaurant (because of the weather), you eat standing up with your food at the counter. If the weather is nice, they have tables outside the restaurant. On the day that my friend and I was there, it was cold and raining so we ate standing up somewhat close to the cash register. There is ample free parking next to the restaurant. I rank them 3.5 stars out of 5 and like my other reviews, because 0.5 star values are not possible, I rounded them up since I don't want to shortchange the establishment so you will see 4 stars (but I really rank them as 3.5 stars) read more

Trapped in the Holiday Inn Express & Suites on a rainy Canada day, I struggled to find a decent dinner on Yelp. Coming up short, I decided to take a walk to the place I saw out of my hotel window. It ended up being a fast food joint of hotdogs and burgers, with poutine. I chose the poutine, being that it's Canada Day and all, and found it to be pretty similar to other poutines I've had, squeaky curds and all. The price was reasonable and service was friendly. I happen to think LaFleur makes the best "Michigan" sauce (which is basically a meat sauce with a high meat to sauce ratio). Slapping that on a steamed hotdog for "un vrai hotdog michigan" is the best thing. I also happen to like their poutine sauce, which seems like it's the same recipe they've been using forever, but it's a bit salty. Their fries are great on their own, though I especially like them with salt and vinegar. The classic "steamie" hotdogs are good too, they have a drier coleslaw mix than some other places. These items literally haven't changed at all to my recollection, which is really part of the charm. This is simple, inexpensive, nostalgic fare. Even though it's a tiny joint where you may have to wait in line for a while (usually there are only 2 people working at a time) it's worth it - no trip to the airport is complete without a meal from LaFleur afterward! read more
