So unassuming, I walked right past it. Yet, don't let appearances fool you; their poutine is legit! It's not fancy-schmancy, but the simplicity is where the awesomeness lies! It's easy to hide mediocrity under a mountain of stuff, but when it's fries, curds, and gravy, it's all out in the open. And let me tell you about this gravy! It was delightfully peppery, savory, and had just the right amount of salt. Further, the consistency was just right, not too thick or thin. The cheese curds were the perfect size to soften just the right amount under the gravy, and the flavors went together marvelously with the cheese, adding some creaminess and texture. As for the fries, these guys were cooked perfectly. They maintained some firmness under what is essentially a liquid while not being so crisp they start crunching. When it comes to the interior, it reminds me of an old-school diner crossed with a dive. There are some well-weathered stools and a couple tables. The service was friendly, but I don't know if I can call it speedy. The poutine took ~15 minutes to come out, and it wasn't very busy. However, given the quality I won't complain or dock them any stars.

One of the best poutine spots in Montreal for certain. Only thing they're missing is a gluten free bun for the burger and we are out here. Overall great experience. Staff was nice and accommodating. Atmosphere is very chill - cool modern day hip diner vibe. Branding is great too - next time I'm for sure copping a T shirt. The burger (double cheeseburger, of course) was very, very good even without a bun. The poutine was AMAZING, especially the beef in it. Probably best poutine I've ever had. My friend got the regular poutine, no ground beef, but in a large. Him and his girlfriend couldn't finish it because they are soft but I was happy to accommodate the leftovers :). Not much more to get into here. Absolutely worth the drop by. One love.

Found out about this place via tik tok. We knew we had to find it on a trip from the states. We were able to find seats inside even though we came during busy evening hours. Cashier was helpful and kind and patient as we ordered (we don't speak French so a few things were lost in translation). The cheeseburgers were amazing. The fries and signature sauce had tons of flavor, although a bit sweet for me. The "slaw" on the hot dog was like a crunchy,.less wet sauerkraute, which we enjoyed. The brioche buns were...nothing short of amazing (French, warm, buttery). I wish the hot dog was a bit bigger to fit the bun and balance all the slaw, but we still enjoyed.

All the hype and 5 star ratings really got me eager to try it out. Unfortunately, their burger, poutine and hotdog was quite ordinary and way overpriced and makes me wonder what the hype the hype is all about as I am all about flavours and textures. Burger - very basic and probably one of the most bland burgers I have had. Poutine - sauce and fries very basic nothing to brag about. Hotdog - nice touch with the coleslaw. Ginger soda - probably the best part of the meal with nice punchy flavours. If you like ginger, try it :-) $ 50 later for fast food and making me wonder what is the hype all about. We'll never know :-)

All the hype and the reviews with " Montreal's best burger " got me hyped up to try it out. I was duped, quite frankly, Five Guys burgers are a thousand times better and even the cherry soda wasn't that great, its way too sweet and was missing the fizz of soda drinks. Even the presentation of the burger doesn't open the appetite. I can say I've tried it, but I won't be going back, plenty of other better burger joints around Montreal.

From the first bite it is clear that this is no ordinary burger. The fresh beef patty is expertly cooked, juicy and seasoned. With a flawless balance of condiments, toppings, cheese and special Tousignant sauce each extra mouthful of tender moist bun is equally tasty.

Guys this place is a MUST. No joke i found the best place for poutine, and I have to say I have never ate such a DELICIOUS poutine, at a point I told my boyfriend i will never go to another place to eat a poutine but here. THE TASTE OF THE GRAVY WAS DECLICIOUS, they also have their own spice that is crazy good which they sell for 5$ ONLY. I loved the retro vibe as well!

Chez Tousignant is tucked away a corner away from the Jean-Talon market, which means that if all those fresh veggies and fruits are not your type of happy food, you can always hop a street over and find comfort in hot, greasy and oh-so-good carbs and proteins. I think the heat that followed the opening has burned off a bit, because although it was a busy Saturday night, we all placed our orders within 10 mins. We got seats at the bar, and waited while watching sports. Habs were playing Rangers (and got eliminated booo). The interior is super retro, with pastel colors, round diner stools and metal milkshake cups. All that was missing was a jukebox! The crew was wearing cool-looking Tousignant-branded caps and sweaters. Even the table mats looked good. In fact, I liked them so much I took a clean one home (and no I don't know what to do with it now). I got a double burger and my boyfriend a regular cheeseburger. We shared a Tousignant hot-dog. Our root beer float was actually Tousignant-brand, with the catchphrase "Parce que vous l'meritez" (Because you deserve it). We got our food after maybe 15 mins. The double burger and the hot-dogs were good, but I almost immediately regretted not getting the cheeseburger. What was I thinking?? A burger with no cheese is like a bed with no pillow! So I stepped back in line and ordered another cheeseburger. Then devoured it. We all left smiling in a state of beatitude, just like the small photograph of Frère André in the back of the kitchen. There's something about this little snack bar that's really, really special. Maybe it's the nostalgic vibe of it all, maybe it's the impeccable, yet simple comfort food it offers. What I'm sure of, however, is that I'll be back. Every day if I could afford it.

I finally got to try this place!! I love the old dinner feel, I love the paper place mats with the little t's, i love the friendliness of the employees. Nothing but love for this place. I got the burger and a milkshake. What people have said about the burger is true. It's the best. Really good patty, excellent bread and the cheese is perfectly melted and delicious. They also add a special sauce and it is delightful. The milkshake was also really good, a bit more milky than I prefer (I like it when there's more ice cream) but it didn't bother me. One of the best places in Montreal!

Hot Diggity Dawg! If quality casse croute is your thing, @cheztousignant is your spot cause it's casse croute done differently. It's fancy. Housemade burgers, hot dogs, fries & soda & I tried 'em all. Probably more expensive than you're used to, but you get what you pay for! Plenty of parking, spacious inside & a crew in the kitchen that was fast & efficient. - Shaun Starr Follow @JackyEatsMTL

I don't think of hamburgers when I think of Canada, especially French Canada. That being said, Chez Tousignant was a really great experience and I'm not disappointed I decided to check this place out. The restaurant has a 50's diner kind of feel to it. I don't know culturally what the country was like at that time, but this place made me think of Grease and Elvis Presley- which is awesome of course. The staff was super friendly, helpful, and really nice to us. They were patient with us, answered our questions, and delivered service with a smile. We ordered the Hot Chicken Sandwich, the Tousignant Hamburger, a Tousignant Hot Dog, and the Classic Poutine. Everything is made to order so there was a small wait. Everything was hot and delicious. The burger was huge and delicious, juicy and flavorful. The toasted bun on the sandwich was perfect, but it was kind of challenging to eat considering how thick it was. I've never had poutine before and I'm happy to say that it was well made here - very enjoyable if not kind of really rich. If you're a tourist and want to check out how the French Canadians do a mean hamburger, look no further than Chez Tousignant.

The owners of Impasto opened this gourmet fast food diner. They wanted to make a quality hotdog, burger and poutine. The hotdog and burger are made with high quality local meat and the buns are handmade. I love hotdogs so I was really excited to try a "homemade" hotdog! We ordered the tousignant hotdog, the double burger and a large poutine. The tousignant hotdog has melted cheese under the dog, a homemade sauce and pickles. It was really really good but too expensive ($7). The burger was great, it tasted like am In-and-out burger in my opinion! The real star was the poutine, which was absolutely delicious!! It was about the same price as a Belle province poutine. I'd definitely order this again. Take home message: delicious but pricey. Get the poutine!

The cafe menu is limited mostly to sandwiches, quiches, salads, and breakfast pastries. I got the Jambon Bio: ham, cheddar, mesclun greens and dijon on a baguette. The amount of ham was really pitiful, I think 2 slices. The greens were boring, only lettuce. We did like the dijon mustard. The baguette was overwhelming for the amount of filling and not the tastiest. Rather disappointing and I thought pretty expensive at $17 Canadian. But it came with soup and salad (no way to order just the sandwich). We liked the soup though, a pureed squash with apple, assertively peppered. Salad? Lol no it was 3 cucumber slices each with a 1/2 cherry tomato on top! In retrospect I should have got one of the hot sandwiches, such as the Croque Monsieur, which looked good on another diner's plate. I liked the selection of soft drinks, and found an interesting fruity soda from a local company. While waiting for our food (order at the counter and they deliver it to the table) and after finishing we perused the grocery. An amazing assortment of gourmet items. I bought two hot sauces that I can't wait to try (didn't get the one made from ants though!) and some tinned smoked fish. Many of the items seemed insanely expensive though. The beer selection was truly impressive; wish I liked beer. Then on to the greenhouse. An amazing variety of plants of all kinds: cactus, ferns, carnivorous, much more. We just looked because we couldn't take them back to the USA, but some were hard to resist.
