Anybody thinking about leaving their family here Please do not do it. This is the second review that I have left about this place. The cleaning crew doesn't do anything. There is constantly dog poop around the area. I have emailed the director Enrique Garcia. Several times with no response or results, this is ridiculous. Neglected Grounds - Families Deserve Better Review: Does not deserve even 1 star I'm very disappointed in the condition of Restlawn Cemetery off Dyer Street. The grounds are being completely neglected - there are holes everywhere, weeds covering graves. Someone is going to fall and get hurt from the holes in the grounds. We had to personally clean and pull weeds from four of our relatives' graves just to make them presentable And put our flowers in. This has been going on for way too long. We have called several different times and they said it will be handled. My parents have to take their own weed eaters and rakes to clean up the area around the headstones. This is unacceptable for a place that families trust to care for their loved ones' resting place. Management needs to take responsibility and properly maintain this cemetery. Hello, I have many loved ones at Restlawn Cemetary , recently I have seen dog excrement on the grave sites, this is from what I assume are loose or lost animals. My sister in law has addressed this with management but the problem seems to persist. It is very disheartening to visit our loved ones and find dog poop on their gravesite. So this awful place got my brothers flat headstone (whatever that is called) in and didn't bother to check if it was correct. I had to see the mistake and let them know. Then the manager apologized but said there were two approval emails from me and this was what was approved. I asked him to send me the email where I approved it and of course he never sent it. Four months later the corrected flat headstone is finally here and installed. I am going this weekend to confirm it is correct and visit my dear brothers grave. I asked if the green vase was still there and the manager said "no we remove everything, that's why you need to get a granite vase attached to the flat headstone." So I said oh it's just a money making thing for you all. Ridiculous. I read some of the reviews here where the cemetery has taken off so many personal items, statues of Jesus, flowers, etc from family members' graves. If the cemetery sells us the plot - at an outrageous price of course - and gives us a deed for the plot, isn't this our property now? The cemetery staff manages the grounds but has no right to remove personal things, memorials, remembrances, even plastic flowers. Somebody needs to pay attention to this business and give them some guidance on how to be empathetic as well as sympathetic and just a little caring. Is that too much to ask? read more

I wish I could say I was surprised to see an avg of a 1 star rating for this place, but I am not at all surprised. It was our mother's wish to be laid to rest next to her parents in a place that we was paid for in full by her parents. Sounds simple enough?! Think again! While we are doing are best to deal with the grief of losing our mom, the staff are busy laughing (yes, laughing out loud) and chatting about television shows while we wait for them to "search for information". We had our information together, but they couldn't seem to locate their files. We had the funeral as planned, but they somehow can't seem to provide us with adequate information as to why a headstone was not included in her family plan package. We have been patient and don't think it is too much to ask to have our questions answered in a prompt and professional manner. We have not received this and I suspect (based on reading other reviews) that others have also been treated unprofessionally and with little or no respect. If you have a choice of where to forever place your loved one-choose somewhere else. read more

Everything on the contract os subject to change even after you pay them $20,000 fucking dollars. Lack of empathy from employees, management, and corporate is outrageous. I can't believe how insensitive and incompetent they are and how callus at the worst time for the loved ones of someone who has recently passed. This place is absolutely terrible. They lack respect and customer satisfaction, and this only the beginning. They have taken it upon themselves to completely adjust my mothers grave marker stone because it "didn't" fit. We didn't get what we paid for, and they've made unwanted adjustments. Not only have they made these adjustments, but they have gone as far as installing the stone. Imagine your loved one passes away, and these people don't listen to your desires as to what you want placed on your loved ones' grave. I am very disappointed in the way that the current manager, Donna, is running the cemetery. We went to the cemetery this past week to pay respect to our loved ones. When we arrived, we found that all of the decorations we had placed were thrown away!!! This was done not just to us, but we noticed that the management had taken down all of the decorations from all of the graves. I find this to be completely unacceptable, disrespectful and unsympathetic. No warning, no notice...straight into the garbage. $100's of dollars of decorations!! The previous management never stooped to this level. Management of a cemetery requires someone with sympathy, flexibility and understanding in order to deal with customers who are grieving. A drill sergeant should work in the Marines, not a cemetery. Although the location is nice and relatively well-kept, I would not recommend this place to anyone until the management is replaced with someone more compassionate and competent. read more

Here we go again 7 months later! What I am disgusted with is the fact that management has change yet still the same problems. I do know for a fact that you will actually get assistance by posting here vice calling them. This place no matter what they have POOR customer service! We bought a stone to be placed on my mother's grave. It was delivered to this place about 4 weeks ago. My sister went and paid 995 to this cemetery to get the stone set in place. When she spoke to Junior and Rachel they said the work order will take 3-4 days. Why is it it's now been a month and nobody can give us an answer? When we called to check on the status it's like they forgot about it. We ask to speak to a manager and we are told nobody is available till Monday. Please if you all have a choice to go somewhere else please do so. It is too late for us! I stopped in to locate some family headstones only to find this cemetery is a complete mess. There are massive ant hills and holes all over the place. Most grass has been replaced by weeds and dirt from not being maintained. Several grave markers were buried under layers of grass and weeds. The owners of this cemetery need to be fined for the disgraceful mess this cemetery is in, especially for the amount of money people had to pay to get buried there after they passed. This place is so disrespectful I created an account just to warn future customers about Restlawn Cemetary on Dyer. The site looks well for a potential customer, as it has green grass and looks nice, but they have it like this to lure them in. Once you invest your money in this place and all is done and sealed, they ravage your loved one's grave and desecrate it. We put shepherd's hooks and decorated our 15 year old son's grave nicely with solar lights and flowers and then, they rudely, without warning took all of it away. They did this to everyone, at least $700 dollars thrown in the trash for all the people. Supposedly they throw it away, but I don't think anyone would throw away all this expensive stuff. They most likely sell it to get more money as THIS WHOLE PLACE IS RUN BY GREED. Their headstones and all the services they provide are WAYYY too expensive. If you get a headstone at a special headstone place you will save a lot of money so PLEASE do not buy a headstone from here. We even went to design it for a quote on the price with them, and they started criticizing OUR design and saying that it won't look good and that isn't right. WHO ARE THEY TO SAY WHAT LOOKS RIGHT OR WRONG. They should be compassionate to the customer, especially for one who is grieving, and even more for someone who's lost their son. And as for the things they threw away, we started looking for the things that they took down as they obviously didn't just vanish. We found ALL the things they took down right next to their dumpster. They tried to hide the things by blocking the entrance and we found all the things badly treated and many things were broken. THEY EVEN THREW AWAY CRUCIFIXES AND PUT A JESUS IN A TRASH PILE AND THEY BROKE HIM. This is desecration and sacrilege! They had no mercy, they took everything down. The worst part is, there's nothing you can do about it because once you buried your loved one here, there's no going back. Before, it wasn't like this with the previous manager. We asked and it's the new manager Donna who is enforcing this ridiculous and disrespectful rule. The stuff they took down was NOT a safety hazard and it did NOT interfere with them cutting the grass or anything at all, this lady has no compassion. I would like to see her lose someone and then they take everything down that she put up and see how she feels. SO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS, IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS CEMETERY AS A BURIAL SPOT FOR YOUR LOVED ONE, ABSOLUTELY MAKE SURE DONNA IS NOT THE MANAGER! Because if she is, and you plan on decorating to honor your loved one, she will take your stuff down and when you complain, she will say, "It's part of our policies you signed up for this when you paid, so follow our rules or stick it." Many of the graves here are not decorated at all, this is probably because the people don't want to invest anymore since they are afraid that this lady will take down your things and throw them away. Here are some pictures as proof of what they do with your loved one's things that "supposedly are forbidden" although the previous manager was compassionate and as long as things weren't offensive or truly a safety hazard they wouldn't take them down. They had more respect. And as for the people who do not have a headstone, they will literally take EVERYTHING from the site. So essentially their message is, buy a headstone from us so we can make money, or else you won't be allowed to decorate. read more

DISGRACEFUL! My Grandparents saved for years to be buried in a nice place and this place is disgusting. They do not maintain it....the grounds are dry and weed ridden. We went out there today and there were roaches running around the grave sites. Hardly a peaceful resting place. I would never recommend having anyone you love being buried here. They do not even have grass growing by their grave. read more

My husband and I have started the pre planning process with Valerie Ulery at Restlawn. In fact, we just spent our 45th wedding anniversary up these picking out a beautiful location for burial. She could not be more helpful, very compassionate, very willing to help us. It is such a comfort to get everything ready now. If she does not know the answer to a question, other staff, such as Kat or Ricardo, are more than willing to help out. We are very pleased. read more
