Not to mention the amazing staff and great breakfast offered in the morning! The view from the room is absolutely stunning at night and during the day! You can literally see the entire town. The room was equipped with everything from fancy coffee maker to complimentary fridge filled with beverages! The place is a dream come true and we honestly can't wait to go back! The walk to get to the castle is harsh because you have to park down the hill but they are SO ACCOMMODATING and let you unload your luggage and leave it at the top. It's a truly magical experience that you will never forget! Everything was wonderful! In the morning for your complimentary breakfast they ask if you want some nice warm eggs it's just perfect! And boy are we glad we came here. The restaurant leans heavily on Swiss influences and does a wide variety of meats (beef: angus and veal, lamb, chicken, horse(!), and fish) as well as an expansive set of salads, including iceberg wedges as well as burrata, bruschetta, and others. And the wine list was impressive too. Tanja spoke great English, which made a huge difference in navigating their impressive and large menu. Now onto the food - the salads were all delicious. The shrimp and chicken that went with the salads as extra add-ons were grilled to perfection and delicious. We practically fought over the bruschetta. And the burrata was also very tasty with a lot of depth and flavors. The main dishes were great as well. It is directly on the water front, shops, restaurants, and cafes are all at your fingertips... it's a matter of choosing what you want to do, where you want to eat, or grab a drink. It is also located right next to the famous castle of Thun which we could see from our bedroom window. It was pricey but it was a splurge for our family. The service was amazing, the location superb. We were able to park behind the hotel even though the parking lot was full, otherwise we would have had to take our car to the public lot several blocks away. Farmer's Market greeted us in the center square as we checked out. This was a wonderful surprise as we were able to get fresh flowers, cheeses, produce, etc. for our continuing trip to Beatenberg. Yes it is expensive, but it was worth it. Delightful breakfast is included with your stay and given how expensive everything is in Switzerland, the meal would cost approx 70fr. for 4. It makes me feel like we got a deal. : )
