The pork served with both #49 and 58 were both juicy, tender, well- seasoned with great depth of flavor and texture. We also enjoyed the 3 bean drink. Reminds me of the Filipino halo- halo. We're planning to return tomorrow to enjoy Pho Anh Vu's other offerings. Stay tuned for updates. Service was fast, friendly and efficient.

My table got the banh cuon mix, bun bo hue, and a mango smoothie. Food was overall good but the banh cuon was pricey and the mango smoothie has a strong yogurt flavor which is traditional but I wouldn't prefer it. The chu who was our server was super friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere of the whole restaurant gives off Vietnam and it's super spacious! I would definitely come back again when I visit the area.

The selection of menu was incredibly special. The offering is Northern Vietnamese food and these special dishes are really hard to find at any different Vietnamese restaurant. Bun Cha Ha Noi - is also called Obama noodle because President Obama had it when he was in Vietnam. Besides the grilled pork, the hardest thing in my opinion is the sauce, which was good here. The only that bothered me is how small the portion is. We had to order extra meat for my daughter. Bun Dau Mam Tom - I have high expectation for a very authentic Vietnamese disk so I was not impressed with their Bun Dau Mam Tom. It normally comes with pork intestine. Where is my pork intestine? Haha Again the portion is also very small. Nem be which is similar to spring roll was also something we called at the end when everyone was still hungry. In my opinion, it is a bit expensive for the food and the portions are small.

Whatever it was Pho Saigon Viet-Nam served me up the best Satay Beef Pho I ever tasted. I started my lunch meal with spring rolls ($5,00). They were good but not the best spring rolls I ever had. The roll I thought was a bit chewy. Next came the Satay Beef ($12) which totally flavored the Pho. It was the best Pho I ever had but mind you I am no expert. They have a strange business model in that a small bowl is $11 and a large bowl is $12. It came out piping hot. I had to let it sit, as well as, blow on the broth to cool it down. The staff was tri-lingual. Imagine that! The food came out quick. It seems a lot of locals dine here. The restaurant is located in Chinatown. The street entrance is below ground level. The restaurant is somewhat dated and upkeep could be improved. The food is a 5 STAR in my opinion.

But briefly, we got a spring roll (I think it was the sprimp and chicken), a chicken dish (I think we got the half chicken), a pho dish and the grilled chicken and shrimp with salad and vermicelli. The spring rolls were good. Very crunchy wrapping, mixed with a fusion of veges, protein and vermicelli. The half chicken was my least favorite dish. I think it's an acquired taste, but the meat was tough to chew and the sauce was a quite tart. Combining all the factors mentioned above, it was a bit difficult to eat. The pho was good. The soup brough was warm, hearty and filling. The noodles were good too - very soft and easy to eat. The vermicelli dish was also good. Very standard protein and vege vermicelli dish. The chicken was tender and shrimp was grilled to perfection. Not a bad choice for Vietnamese cuisine in Montreal.

First of all, this place is located on the street level of a duplex, so easy to miss it if you are not paying close attention. Street parking with maybe space in the driveway for 1 or 2 vehicles. It is a small place with approx 15 tables ranging from seating for 2 to 6/8 per table. Great service, so no complains there! Now for the food...PHENOMENAL! Every dish tasted like they were made from a Vietnamese's home. Great flavours without the "restaurant" taste, if you know what I mean. I would imagine if we were to visit a Vietnamese person's home, the dishes would taste something along this line. Having lived close to San Jose, CA (large Viet population with lots of specialty restos) and currently from just outside Toronto, where we have an array of authentic Viet restos, this place rates near the top in comparison to Viet restos we have been to, even in Montreal. We managed to decipher it and ordered. My husband ordered Hù tiêú nam vang and I ordered Hù tiú bò. Both were piping hot, flavourful and filled with plenty of protein. The noodles were cooked perfectly. We loved that there was an option on the menu for cooking the beansprouts as usually we have to write that separately. We also ordered 2 imperial rolls and they were also piping hot, crispy and delicious. I loved that in the washroom there's a chalkboard wall where you can write comments :) This place is a true foodie find and we will definitely be back next time we're in Montrêal.

For the main course, I went with a large beef Pho, with extra braised beef. It was a nice sized soup, but I was hoping for a little more beef and noodles inside. The soup did have a terrific taste though. Although for the price of the soup ($16 + $4 for the extra beef), I was hoping to be a little more full! Service was definitely top notch. The beef rib was quite tender but with lots of connective tissue (which we enjoy). The broth was pretty good, but definitely nowhere near as good as many other Vietnamese restaurants we've been to. The serving size of both noodles and protein were very generous, but it's quite an expensive dish so that wasn't surprising. The washroom was unisex and was clean and tidy.
