I had the cevapici, which was delicious, and very authentic for Croatian food. There was actually a Croatian family there who was celebrating their child's birthday, so, that is a good sign! The atmosphere was a little lacking, a restaurant in a house, but, the food and service was great. I hope to try one of the other dishes tomorrow!

After the Arthotel had screwed us on Saturday - their Restaurant being closed on weekends - we came…read morewith a party of six with no reservation on a Saturday night at 8pm - and man, the place was packed, and I mean really really packed. The family owned place went out of their way to seat us and we had a delicious meal at bargain prices. Beware - the portions are gianormous :-) Even though the place was very loud - far to loud for me after an exhausting show day - we most likely will go again tonight - and go for the full beast - the Gourmand plate. The guys next - a party of 20 - had a few, and it looked amazing. We might take the plate for four and share it with six, though, as the serious dudes on the table next to us even had left-overs. Beware: this is an authentic Kroatien family run place. Looks like it, smells like it, and as the fingerpicking taste of it. Make sure you stay with the Kroatian dishes and leave the Schnitzel. I had it - and it was good, but far from what I "sampled" ;-) from my staff joining me. REMARK: if you know me or have read my comments before, you may skip this bit. If I am "new to you": I am a noted music photographer traveling the world since the early 80's. Shooting up to 250 shows a year I have really seen the world. Of course I do understand that there is a difference between five stars and five stars: I have been to some of the most celebrated chefs - even photographed them for the covers of their books - and have experienced mind-blowing meals. I mean, really meals that you will remember for ever. This particular restaurant can, due to the nature of its business and its price point, not get anywhere close to these special experiences. I trust you understand it would be comparing not apples with oranges but apples with truffles ;-) However, we had a fantastic time, were well fed with fingerlicking food and experienced an outstanding service. So while this place is far from being close to "The Ritz", I will sure go again if I am in the area and would always recommend it to the non-snob friends of mine ;-) Thanks for reading this. We did actually go again - the following night. We were late, the last guests, and the owner kept the place open for the eleven of us.
