From Google: History and Atmosphere Opened as part of a…read morechain that revolutionized wholesale by cutting traditional distributor overhead. Industrial, warehouse style setting featuring massive walk-in refrigeration and freezer rooms. If you really want to hear about it, walking into Restaurant Depot is about the most overwhelming shopping experience that can happen to a person on a random weekday morning. The whole place is just this giant, freezing warehouse full of steel racks stacked thirty feet high, crammed with cardboard boxes and five-gallon buckets of anythingand everything It's got bright fluorescent lights hummin' overhead refrigerators buzzin' below that made me on edge like I've been in county lockup in a mosquito hive for three days. The thing that really gets me is the walk-in cooler section. You walk into this massive room where they keep the fresh shellfish and meat, and it's so damn cold your teeth chatter, but all these guys in apron suits are wheeling around giant flatbed carts like it's the most normal thing in the world. They've got giant signs everywhere Fresh Shellfish, Fresh Produce, trying to make it sound like some cozy seaside market, but it's just rows and rows of industrial plastic and concrete. It's all very practical, I suppose. If you run a diner or something and need ten thousand paper cups or fifty pounds of frozen chicken wings to feed a bunch of annoying customers who won't even appreciate it, this is where you go. My book Death Diner is almost completed, actually its about half done, so pre order your copy today! They've got everything lined up in those massive yellow racking units, neat as you please. You can't even deny they've got stuff in stock, it's just towering over you, waiting to be loaded into a minivan or a semi. I'm giving it three stars because, honestly, it does the job. It's got every supply a restaurant could ever ask for, and it doesn't try to put on a big fancy show like those overpriced grocery stores with hanging sausage displays. But standing in those drafty aisles, watching guys push fifty-pound sacks of onions around under those terrible lights, it just makes me feel kind of miserable.

My goal was to find great meat deals to then build my holiday dinner menu but also great deal for everyday dinner or special occasion menu ideas. Place was huge. Think Costco but bigger and more warehouse like. They cram so much stuff everywhere. It's like paradise for all in the culinary world. We even bumped into another chef friend shopping with his family. We enjoyed looking at each aisle to see what was available. The large walk in fridgerater (with freezers) had so much meats and produces options. Pricing was decent for large slabs of meats but they do add up. I did gasp when I saw the total on the receipt but we did save alot as we can cut/freeze them.Highly recommend shopping here if you have membership. Got a 17.34lb of rib eye and I did manage to get about 17 steaks out of that. 11.67lb of boneless skinless pork belly which we thinly sliced with our slices machine at home. Do be careful with can items. We didn't do a throughly check when we grab a case of tomato sauce #10 cans; half was dented. But it's not like we could had open the case (sealed cardboard box) to check as well. We saw later that the side had a rip= dented. Also, lots of items (canned goods as well) on the shelves/racks can be dusty. 3 stars because of this issue. They are also particular about their return policy- have to be done at the same location. We took the loss as we weren't coming back to that location and tried to return at a closer location to home.

I thought to myself I may dispute the issue but instead I've decided to go all in. I'm now paying out of pocket for a private investigator and attorney to go after BJ's. I was informed there is some type of camera that is on the card machines that pick up your pin. It's sad these situations are still occuring, none the less just be careful out there on a whole and with using your cards . BUYERS PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS BJS WHOLESALE LOCATION.

This is the member only Store of course, and if you're not a member, you don't pay the annual fee, and you aren't having too much fun shopping in here since you can't actually buy anything. Barbie doll used to be a member and wanted to check it out, and one of the employees was a little bit weird about her not having a card - but then it's New York city so we kind of expected that. We didn't find any deals in here that made us think that she should renew her membership or revive it rather, which she has been considering. Much like Costco, but for totally different types of goods, I don't honestly see the attraction except for the feeling of exclusivity and a potentially quieter shopping experience.
