First time shopper here. I was lucky to get this cool opportunity as my friend have a membership and offer to take me for an early holiday shopping trip. My goal was to find great meat deals to then build my holiday dinner menu but also great deal for everyday dinner or special occasion menu ideas. Place was huge. Think Costco but bigger and more warehouse like. They cram so much stuff everywhere. It's like paradise for all in the culinary world. We even bumped into another chef friend shopping with his family. We enjoyed looking at each aisle to see what was available. The large walk in fridgerater (with freezers) had so much meats and produces options. Pricing was decent for large slabs of meats but they do add up. I did gasp when I saw the total on the receipt but we did save alot as we can cut/freeze them.Highly recommend shopping here if you have membership. Got a 17.34lb of rib eye and I did manage to get about 17 steaks out of that. 11.67lb of boneless skinless pork belly which we thinly sliced with our slices machine at home. Do be careful with can items. We didn't do a throughly check when we grab a case of tomato sauce #10 cans; half was dented. But it's not like we could had open the case (sealed cardboard box) to check as well. We saw later that the side had a rip= dented. Also, lots of items (canned goods as well) on the shelves/racks can be dusty. 3 stars because of this issue. They are also particular about their return policy- have to be done at the same location. We took the loss as we weren't coming back to that location and tried to return at a closer location to home. read more

Things you need to know: You need an account to shop here. Be prepared to push heavy carts around. The cashiers have yellow shopping bags if you ask for them. They are not readily offered not their existence announced. There are free ice packets at the exit of the store. Lots of stuff is sold in bulk but many items can be purchased in smaller amounts. You mut scan your card when you enter. When you get to the checkout counter, they have to scan and count all of the items. You should consider this when you pack your items onto your cart. Otherwise, your check out experience will be long and miserable. read more

I wish I could give this place a 0, but I gave it a 1. Priscilla is the worst worker I have even encountered. She's rude, sneaky and needs a serious reality check. I know for a fact she gives massive attitude to her employees and she also messes up the schedule every single week to make HER life easier. People have lives and other things going on and she doesn't allow them to have other obligations outside of work. She needs to get it together because this place has lost another customer. read more

This place has numerous itemsfor any business owner. The price is fair if you bulk buy. The service staff at this location was very helpful. Quality of products: Large amount of selection for business owners Services: Depends on the time of the day. Most of the staff here start work very early. Keep in mind their job is to fill the place up and not to help the clients. The cashier lines were very quick. Doesn't take more than 20 minutes max. As the weekend approaches, their selections are depated. For the freshest items, come here on a monday/tuesday. read more

The number of stars I would give this establishment is 0. I only pressed one because you can not post your review without doing so. My niece is 17 yrs. old and she went in for an interview at the Jetro in College Point, Queens. She has a tiny lip piercing and a very small nose piercing, the first lady that interview her was nice and asked if you would be willing to take then out, my niece said she would wear a face mask to cover them, the first interviewer said that would be fine, I guess her superior came to finish up the interview and was very rude and abrupt, repeating over and over again that she will never be able to get a job anywhere and made her feel extremely uncomfortable and awkward. I understand if that is the store policy but she does not have the right to be rude and nasty about it. We as adults expect the younger generation to have respect for their elders, but I believe you have to give respect to get it in return. And I am assuming the woman was a manager, if she had final say at the interview, but she really does need to learn how to speak to people, my niece also said that the first person she spoke to seemed really uncomfortable during the interview. I would not refer this establishment to anyone, being that probably half your customers have some kind of piercing or tattoo. read more

Unfortunately this cash and carry is not really open to the public. but if you are a business owner or a not-for-profit, you can get a membership card and you'll see behind the curtain. Restaurants, delis, food carts, trucks, etc.. they all basically get their supplies from places like this. Jetro is a huge warehouse that makes bj's look like a convenience store. Their freezer section is like the refrigerated room at Western Beef except 2 or 3 times a big. Of course everything is unintended to be purchased wholesale so most things can't be purchased in smaller portions, also it gets a lesser rating because the lines are crazy and even after you pay you have to wait on another long line to get your receipt checked. read more

These jerks wouldn't let me shop there because I don't have an account#.I have a tax exempt certificate with the ID # and they said they need an account# not a tax exempt number. The girl at the counter wasn't only rude to me, but when she was turning me away, she was on the business phone cursing someone out. This place is a sh_t shop. Stay away from this Mickey Mouse operation. Oh and another thing, I just found out that they can accept my address in lieu of an account #. The refrigerated room is of an older store design (pre-restaurant depot), no fish monger for example. The RD wing is smaller than the brand new Hunts Point RD/Jetro. Resale targeted items are usually more expansive than national retail chain prices. Raw meat is 50% less than anything in retail supermarkets or warehouse clubs. Petfood, although a great variety, is much higher in price than a particular national petstore chain. Although in some cases you can trade quality for price with some generic style kibble brands which are not sold in any chain stores due to them being so poor quality as pet food (fit for feeding chickens with, not carnivores). Deli products are same or more expensive than warehouse clubs but always cheaper than retail. Consumer paper towels and tissues are more expensive than warehouse clubs unless you trade quality for price and get generics which dont exist in warehouse clubs. Many frozen and canned products (frozen/canned fish, frozen/canned vegetables) are from china and near prison quality, it isn't like a restaurant patron knows where their food came from. For the same price you can get north or south american made food from a warehouse club. Jetro is designed for bodegas, not grocery stores. You can completely fill a bodega, but not a grocery store from shopping at Jetro, but in some isles there is enough variety that for a split second you think you can get away with filling an entire grocery store. The business model of Jetro seems to be, at a bodega nobody cares about prices, the people who shop there do so because of convenience, not cost, therefore charging higher "wholesale" prices than "retail" prices is acceptable. Since everything is in bulk packages store owners find it more convenient than picking individual items off the retail self for resale, sales tax can be removed depending on your membership, and it is a 1 stop shop, and time is money, so I guess that is why it is popular. When the store closes, you aren't chased out instantly, but have an additional 15-45 mins after the front doors closed to shop. Non-refrigerated product variety between Hunts Point RD/Jetro and College Point RD/Jetro is the same from what I looked at. College Point RD/Jetro is an older building and it looks more beaten up on the inside compared to a RD-only or Hunts Point RD/Jetro. At CP I have seen pigeons and birds in it sometimes. Parking is plentiful at CP but it will be a longer distance (1/4 or 1/2 a minute more to push) to push your things than in more modern RDs. The refrigerated room feels colder than a refrigerator, wear FULL winter clothing if you plan to shop in it. A winter coat, multiple pant layers, a hat and gloves. There is a windchill due to air circulation equipment that makes it feel like 15F even though it is guaranteed above freezing. For being a "business owners"-only business, and making a warehouse club's version of "bulk" look like a gas station's product sizes, it is a rip off and price uncompetitive with retail and warehouse clubs in the majority of retail-ish items. For alot of, but not all, institutional targeted items, any decrease in unit price is matched by a much larger decrease in product quality. The staff is fine, just make sure you aren't impaled by a forklift. Unlike at home improvement store, the forklifts here are fast and mean, and assume you aren't 5 years old and you know to get out of the way. Variety is much higher at RD/Jetro than a warehouse club, almost but not a supermarket. If you are looking for a retail-packaged product, and you can't find it at a supermarket, you wont find it at RD/Jetro. The build contains both a Jetro and a RD section. The RD section in feet of isles looks smaller than of Hunts Point RD/Jetro and of a pure-RD. I think the product variety is the same from what I saw (there is just less of it, instead of 3 pallets across, just 1, or instead of 1 pallet on the floor, it was unloaded onto the shelf). There is some indoor parking at CP but it fills up very fast during certain hours of the day. read more
