My #1 Chinese restaurant--across both the Old and New Worlds. The service is warm, welcoming, and…read moregenuinely kind from the moment you arrive. After days of craving something beyond the usual burgers, pizza, and pasta, this place was exactly what we needed. We happily traveled over half an hour to return to this hidden gem in Amstelveen--and it was absolutely worth it. The ambiance is relaxed and well-balanced, creating a comfortable setting to enjoy the experience. The dishes were flavorful, authentic, and beautifully presented, making every bite satisfying. A true standout that I would gladly return to again and again.

Dining is indoors exclusively, split up on 3 levels. Started off with the crispy pork belly, roast duck, dumpling flat noodle soup and it was decent. The dumplings were filled with bouncy shrimp. The duck was flavorful, a touch lean, and quite meaty. The crispy pork belly was ok. The flat noodles were drier than typical and the broth was tasty. The large portion was sufficient for one! Added on an oyster a la mode and it was tasty although the oyster was on the smaller side...bummer. Service was quick and attentive by the staff. They take credit cards too.
I love this Chinese restaurant in Amsterdam. I cannot believe I haven't written a review on here…read moreyet. It's my go-to place when friends are visiting or dining alone. It's very traditional yet not fancy. There may be a line, but worth waiting under 10 min usually. Only downside is that the tables can be close and if it's quiet, or you're on a first date or something, you're RIGHT NEXT to this other couple who can listen to everything you say. Sometimes need some background noise!

Authentic Dim Sum in the Heart of Amsterdam If you are looking for authentic Chinese flavors near…read morethe Red Light District/Chinatown, Oriental City is the place to go. It's a multi-level restaurant that stays packed during prime hours, which is always a good sign for the food quality. They serve Dim Sum all day, which is a huge plus. The flavors are very traditional. While the Dim Sum was solid across the board, the Beef Chow Fun was the absolute standout--perfectly prepared with that signature "wok hei" (breath of the wok). The staff isn't necessarily warm and fuzzy, but they are efficient. Don't expect a long chat, but you'll get your food quickly. Be prepared for a bit of a climb; the restaurant spans several floors and it appears to be stairs-only. It gets very crowded, so timing your visit is key. A must-visit for Chinese food fans in Amsterdam. Just be ready for a lively, busy environment!

While, it's not the best dim sum I've had (not sure if it's because I'm accustomed to having a Chinese-American palette), I enjoyed a change of scenery. Outside the store, you'll find the menu outside to entice you to come inside. From there, you climb a staircase that leads to a spacious restaurant with modern Asian décor. Daily, they offer both a Dim Sum and a Chef's Special Menu. For my beverage, I ordered a Milk Tea, but found the milk tea to be diluted with water.

We arrived around 4:30, and it was not a problem getting a table although the place was busy. They sat us in the window looking out on the street. The service was prompt, and the menu had a lot of options. We placed an order for seven different small dishes. In short order, the dishes arrived one by one. We were tired from the flight over, but the food picked us up. We got the chicken dumplings, the pork dumplings, the minced beef meatballs, an onion pancake, spring rolls, and a few more items. Everything seemed freshly cooked. The food was good but did not wow us. They give you soy sauce for the dim sum, but I would have liked additional sauces. I did ask for some hot sauce, and they brought me a chili oil sauce which was very good. The staff were very friendly and happy to help with any request. The price was reasonable (two of us for under $50 Euros). The decor is neat and clean. I would definitely recommend.

Anyway, this place had decent reviews so we came here for some dim sum at midnight. The place has as royalty feel to it (hence the name) so there's tons of chandelier and tons of elaborate Chinese decor. The portions are huge and the dim sum was delicious. We couldn't finish our meal but at least we were full and the price for our entire meal wasn't bad, it was about 50 euros after everything. Worth a stop if you're craving chinese food or dim sum while in Rotterdam.
