Four stars for decent service, decent claim to fame dishes (esp the spring and summer rolls!) and decent environment.
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The only negative set backs are (1) It is right next to Glattbrugg, so for those coming from the center of Zurich after work it can feel far. It is only a few tram stops north of Oerlikon. (2) On Tues night there was only one visible server. But he gave very good, polite and attentive service.
For starters, we received the spring roll (crispy filled with vermicelli and minced meat) as well as a summer roll (filled with beef and shrimp). I was impressed with the spring roll, I ate the two that was provided though I normally hate eating fried appetizers. The summer roll was very freshly prepared and surprisingly tasty. Wow. Not too bad for a place in an industrial feeling park next to Glattbrugg.
Next was the soup. I think it was a tomato soup or a light version of tom yum soup. Very pleasant.
Then we had the chicken red curry with rice. Very flavorful. I normally don't heart red curry, but this one is nice, richly flavored with curry and coconut. It had a little kick to it too, so it was not a really bland and wimpy version of red curry. Kudos!
Lastly they provided me a fried banana with creme, a touch hint of coconut. Nice too! I have never seen this being served in Switzerland!
The tea is served properly in ceramic pots and tea leaves. I am in love. And the environment inside is moderny relaxing with a bit of modern/abstract art inside. Outdoor seating looks promising too.
If this place was near where I work or live, it'd be in trouble because I would be there more often. But since it isn't, it is reserved preferably when I am ever deciding to go shopping, I will eat here and shop at Glattzentrum to kill two birds with one stone. If you live/work around here, give it a try!
Someone has told me their pho is worth a try. I didn't get to try it. But I assumed the dishes they had served me that day are also their 'claim to fame' dishes. read more
