Truly an incredible dinner experience all around. I wish I lived closer so I could come back more…read moreoften! We arrived early to get our champagne and walk around the property, which is gorgeous. We were seated in a private dining area, with special menus that said "Happy Birthday", since I let them know I was celebrating there. The service is top notch. But beware, you can't add more guests to your party after a certain time so if anything changes with your reservation, let them know ASAP! The wine pairings with each meal were fabulous. I especially liked trying the ice wine at the end with dessert. I also love that they change the menu and are seasonal! Our menu was dreamy! The first course shrimp and grits had us all licking our plates. We even asked the chef at the end how he made the grits. Perfect!! The next round was an interesting goat cheese and corn soup. Loved the pumpkin seeds with it. Then....the filet. YUMMMM! Now they don't ask you how you like it cooked but we all got rare which was fine. The asparagus was nice with it too. The dessert topped it all off, with a perfect peach compote and almond cake that had us all delighted. Or maybe it was all the wine. Not to be missed is the pipping hot French press coffee we all enjoyed after dinner. Again, superior service, cozy atmosphere, and we enjoyed our convo with the chef afterwards. It was certainly a special occasion for the price, but in my party's opinion, very worth it and a night we will not soon forget.

Our room came with a complimentary bottle of wine, which was really nice. They also have a wine hour that is self service and is complimentary. You're allowed as much wine as you want. There's also complimentary charcuterie during the wine hour and it's nice to be able to mingle with other guests. Breakfast the morning of us checking out was delicious and a truly beautiful experience. I wish I was still there.

Luggage carts are in good working order. Portico by the door to load/unload your vehicle. No steps at the entrance. We were put into a King Suite. It was a corner room and quite a lot of space. Plenty of room for a baby's cot or a yoga mat. We didn't watch any TV, but it is so far away from the bed! The room needs a sofa by the TV/foot of the bed. There's plenty of room! It was a very comfortable space with a dining table and three chairs. I used this space both as a table (to eat my pizza left overs) and as a desk (to make some changes to our itinerary). So an excellent addition. The bathroom towels are so fluffy! Large shower stall with rolling glass door. Mirror has a light around the edge making it excellent for applying make-up. Plenty of counter space. Single use products. No tissues. Plenty of TP. Clean. Everything in working order. The King bed was very comfortable. The sheets were soft. Pillows were different densities. Two bedside tables and lamps. Two plugs and USB ports on each side. The desk was a good size with a small lamp and plugs. We always use the desk! There are no overhead lights in the bed/desk area of the room. A floor lamp is positioned close to an armchair by the window. The entryway does have overhead lighting, a closet area with iron/board (which I used) and a fridge/microwave/coffee maker stacked on the floor. Definitely need to get all that up off the floor. Very little noise from other rooms or the hallway. AC/Heater worked well as was quiet. I used the treadmill in their exercise area. It has manual and pre-programmed work outs and it inclines. That room is clean, has clean towels on a shelf, a hamper, water cooler and TV. The business center is next door. Laundry and ice are down the hall. Breakfast is cold items only with cereals, granola bars, pastry, toast, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, coffee/tea and juice. The area is very clean. Vending machine takes cash or tap to pay. An ATM, water fountain and public restrooms are all nearby. The front desk was manned each time we passed by and they made more coffee while we were at breakfast. I was able to hand in my room key and let them know we had vacated our room. A very pleasant stay.

We paid more this time but, ok inflation! The rooms are outdated but clean. The breakfast we had a couple years ago was what you would expect, the usual motel breakfast. They really did scale down this trip, more like a continental breakfast. The hot tub wasn't working two years ago and guess what it still doesn't work. SURPRISE!!!!. Also I asked for some Kleenex for the room, it is not provided in the rooms anymore you have to get it from the front desk. We will be staying elsewhere next trip!!!

I recently stayed in the Mimosa room at The Mark Addy for a weekend while visiting the area. What…read moreinitially drew me here was the beautiful mountain scenery and history behind the mansion (it belonged to Thomas Jefferson's Physician!) Upon arriving I was greeted by the owner Leslie who showed me to my room. The decor and layout did not disappoint! It was as if I was going back in time! Once in the room Leslie pointed out a coupon book for all the local businesses which I was already planning on visiting so that was a huge plus. Once I got settled in I spent a few minutes reading through a guest log in the room with written experiences from guests before me. I of course added to it on my final night. In my room was a clawfoot bathtub along with a pair of bathrobes and bottle of wine (upon request). The bed was very comfortable and the room was cleaned and organized in between nights. Breakfast was better than one could get at a renown country club and the quality was such that would make even the most hardcore Whole Foods shopper drool with envy. As an advocate for farm to table practices I was very pleased, especially considering how close they are to various farms. A recent reintroduction of their restaurant held in the "fountain room" of the mansion was a delightful coincidence since I didn't know about it when I booked the room initially. The young eccentric chef Andrew prepared a three course meal for us that tops any other restaurant in the area (sorry Blue Mountain Brewery). The intimate setting of the dining room with window views overlooking the sun setting over the Blue Ridge Mountains as my beloved and I shared a world class meal is apparently open to anyone even if they aren't staying, so beyond my recommendation on staying at The Mark Addy I IMPLORE you to make a reservation for a night of fine dining at The Fountain Room within the mansion. I won't waste words describing the overall scenery and atmosphere at The Mark Addy because they wouldn't even scrape the surface. Take my word for it - you HAVE to experience it yourself. It's no surprise that they have a high demand for smaller, more intimate weddings held here every year....can't wait to go back!

The Mark Addy has some things to keep in mind. Sure, there were some hiccups during our trip. We…read morerented the Kensington room, but when we arrived we found out that the AC was broken. While we knew the place had some old-time feel to it, there were some things that were a bit unexpected such as the bathroom door not closing and the TV being broken. The thing is that we weren't there to watch TV so that was minor (and clearly can be easily replaced). We found out quickly that when something goes wrong, the team in the Mark Addy will go far out of their way to try to accommodate you to the best of their ability. Without losing a step we were given access to an additional room in the event that we were too warm in the Kensington. We took advantage of that one night, it was not even necessary the second night so it was hardly an issue. In the evenings there was sangria provided, which was not only delicious but a really nice touch. By the second night we were already looking forward to it! What can't be overstated is how delicious the included breakfast is. I honestly was expecting the typical continental type breakfast. I was very mistaken. Their menu is creative, fresh, and absolutely delicious. It was more of a treat than it was just a meal. Overall, the place is an old-ish inn with some character. You're not going to find some modernized place and, yeah there are some quirky things that could be fixed. However, it's a whole FEEL that you get from this place and the view from the front is gorgeous. Add that to the quality of the treatment and food and I think you have a solid winner. I'm grateful for our great experience and that the Mark Addy went out of their way to make sure were were comfortable and happy!

It was super clean, with a nice, cozy bed and comfortable, bougie amenities, including the shower you'd see at the St. Regis (open shower with a rain showerhead and sprayer). The private hot tub on the deck overlooking the mountains is gorgeous. I watched the sunset from my deck. I also discovered there's a washer/dryer in there in addition to a microwave and a fridge. So it's like a bougie version of a Residence Inn. Also, since I'm in my own cabin, I didn't hear anything from the outside unless I was outside. The property is beautiful. It has some small on-site hiking trails that take about 20-30 minutes. The clubhouse has an AMAZING chef-cooked breakfast in the morning that's included in your stay rate, and the on-site manager is so nice. They also put sparkling water and Fiji water in your fridge for free. You're also near the cute town of Staunton, which has gift shops, glass art (and glassblowing if you want to try), a historic railway, a high point city view (Sears Bridge), book shops, and restaurants/cafes. It's good to spend a few hours. There's no dinner on-site at the inn, but I went to the nearby Blue Mountain Brewery, which gets very popular. I hope you have a wonderful time here, and I HIGHLY recommend it.
