This hotel was hit and miss. When I first arrived the front desk lady was a hit as she was friendly and helpful. The next day when I walked in and looked over to speak to a different front desk worker she couldn't even care to look up and acknowledge a customer had entered the lobby and was looking at her. The King suite was very nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. That was a hit. A miss was the toilet. Clearly one of the bolts was broken because it wobbled freely when you touched it. Surely housekeeping noticed this when they cleaned the bathroom, so it should have been repaired before the next guest arrived. The free breakfast was a hit. I'm usually skeptical of hotel free breakfast options but I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the Belgium waffle, eggs and frittata. A miss was outdoor cleanliness, because the pool area - while closed still - had chairs thrown all about and it just looked messy. Someone should be tasked with keeping it looking nice even when technically closed for the season. read more

Spent the weekend at this hotel at checkin the person who checked us in was very friendly. But the girl working the evening shift wasn't friendly or helpful she had a real bad attitude. Our room was clean it was really just a place to sleep. In the morning the breakfast wasn't very good so we decided to eat at a restaurant. The resident is a nice little pleasant place, but the receptionist there lax experience, my card was charged two additional times, because the receptionist made a mistake. Instead of using my last four digits of my credit card ,She use my last four days of my expiration date, this causes me to have additional $1400 extracted from my account, which I won't receive back until 3 to 5 business days after we depart, so if you're gonna stay here be very careful of the receptionist, and the pool also was not clean read more

My first encounter with the Residence Inn by Marriott in Waldorf, MD was a very rude front desk person by the name of Sheree. I first talked with her on the phone while trying to make a reservation and my second encounter was when I checked in. Sheree should not be the face of Marriott. Second issue, is I was charged a parking fee although I did not park on their premises. Matter of fact, I told Sheree that I would not be parking a vehicle on their premises and did not provide any information about a vehicle, I did not sign any type waiver however they charged me and refuse to reverse the charges... I got excellent service from Jnee who moved things around to get me a warm and comfortable room to make up for the terrible conditions outside. What a wonderful and hospitable person. I've stayed here twice this year and so far have had pretty good experiences both times. Unfortunately this last time I was placed right next to the elevator, which is the worst room to be put in. The rooms were clean, comfortable and pleasant enough for a week long stay. My requests for extra towels and an extra pillow were filled. Unfortunately, I have yet to get the gold member upgrade...even after being informed that upgrades were available, which is a bit frustrating. All-in-all not a bad place to stay. The area provides several restaurants to satisfy most needs/desires...And it is close to shopping and entertainment. This place could possibly be a four star review, but I'll need to patron the bar/restaurant and pool. read more

She greeted with a sweet welcome gift and card, took care of an earlier misunderstanding and set my checkout to to the latest possible hour, per status. She even tracked down breakfast for me after the buffet had closed. This small yet impactful gesture really stood out. I mean, who does that? The combination of well-thought-out room amenities, coupled with the exceptional service provided by Lashonda and Kassidy, created an seamless experience. Take note, Ritz Carlton, because I received better service here than I did at one of your hotels last weekend. Truth. Only stayed for a night, would not stay longer. Customer service was GREAT but that's where the great ended. There's only one elevator for the guest and the employees (housekeeping as well). The hallways smelled like a locker room. The room didn't smell much better. It was extremely hot upon arrival and took a few house to get to a comfortable temp. The set up was nice but not worth the money. The breakfast wasn't worth it. Now to the pool. There were people having a kids pool party the day of arrival and they were loud and there for hours. I decided to go back in the morning. The employee who opened the pool was using the net to skim the top so I assumed it would be clean. I was wrong it was so disgusting I didn't even get in. They had no hand soap in the whole hotel so the gave us lotion. Room was not very clean and a lot of things were worn out. Never again. read more

Family and I stayed here for about 9 days for a local event. The staff at the front desk was always nice and inviting. The cleaning staff was also exceptional nice. The overall hotel was clean. The breakfast had a good selection of options. My room was surfaced clean and the first couple of days I didn't have any issues. I noticed that the carpet in the room was not clean and our socks showed how dirty the carpet was. There is one elevator which delays the traffic flow. We ran out of towels several times due to shipment. We had several large families on our floor and dogs. First day I smelled pee and diaper smell in the hallway and reported it the front desk staff. They came and picked up the bag and eventually sprayed after I requested. Through out my stay the smell of pee in my hallway lingered. At first I didn't know that there dogs on my floor but it made sense because the pee smell and our last night there was a foul dog poo smell. It was report to the front desk because management wasn't available. My rating is a 3 because of great customer service from overall stay. I think if a hotel caters to animals there needs to be a set floor for our babies and rooms will need to be monitored. I would like to say again the customer service was great! read more

This is probably the worst Marriott I've ever stayed in. First, they gave my room away and I booked it over a month out. Second, the room wasn't really clean. Third, they ran out of towels for about 36 hours. Forth, couldn't even get tissue for about 36 hours. They said they would give me some points for being inconvenienced and I never got them. If it's your only option (and I know it's not), by all means, stay here. We stopped by and checked the place out prior to our extended stay and the place seemed great. They showed us a newly remodeled room which of course we didn't ultimately get when we arrived, I assume because we had a dog in tow. The area seemed quiet, almost neighborhood-ish, tucked back behind a shopping center. Then we arrive and got checked in. I spent the first two days cleaning. The light switches were disgusting - not to mention the stove top and the pots and pans that were given to us. I went to the store and got steel wool to clean the pots and a soft scrub pad to clean the stove. I put everything into the dishwasher and started it with one of the packets of soap provided by the hotel. The dishwasher is old so it's super loud. Speaking of loud, the first morning, we got to hear hours of beep, beep, beep because they're building a new strip mall right in front of the hotel - we'd not realized that because we'd come on a holiday weekend - didn't even notice it. And the street in front of the hotel is a cut-through for traffic so people come flying through there and into the strip mall next to the hotel - which houses an event facility and a game place so once the beeping of the construction stops, the pot-smoking, dealing, screaming, and partying starts. Where do you think all those losers stay after partying all night? Yep, so if you're in the market to score, this is the place to be - dealers are just outside on an almost daily basis and when they're not, it's because the police are parked out front. The stairwells fill with pot smoke on the weekends. It's great to go out with my dog each night and wonder if I'm going to be run over or interrupt a deal. Speaking of taking the dog out. There's a nice field just across from the hotel which would be ideal for a dog to get a bit of exercise but you have to be careful because if you're not stepping in 5 tons of goose shit, it's another 5 tons of other dog owner's dog shit because no one picks up after their dogs. I have to keep my dog on a tight leash in order for her not to get sick. Not to mention keeping her away from the hoards of rotten food that people leave out for the stray cats that live by the exit doors. Which makes for that much more fun when taking the dog out. If you're doing extended stay, be comforted in knowing that you don't get cleaning service every day - no, that's reserved for the people that are only here a few days. It wouldn't make sense to give better service to people that are here long term and are practically funding this shithole. So, extended stayers only get service every 3 days and the level of that service varies. Some days you get 1 towel and washcloth, some days it's 2 and then there's the winner days when you get 3 - every 3 days - no matter how many people are in the room. They say you can ask for more but that means I either have to go to the front desk where they give you attitude for asking for anything or I have to catch the lady with the cart to get more. You need sheets replaced - every three days. You need a vacuum - oh you need to request that. You'd think that seeing the dirty towels, dirty sheets, dirty floor, it would be intuitive - nope. I HAVE A DOG IN MY ROOM - you'd think that'd warrant a vacuum every three days - nope. The included breakfast is adequate but boring over time. Waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, breads, bagels, cereals, juices, coffee, oatmeal, fresh-ish fruit and cheeses. The kitchen staff are always nice which makes me wonder why they're working there. Got laundry to do? Simple! Just head down to the laundry room and deposit $2 into each washing machine and another $2 in each dryer. $8-$12 later, your weekly laundry is ready to be lugged up to your room so you can fold it and put it away. No special rate for extended stay folks because you're already getting gouged with a sub-par, filthy room with no towels. I asked to get some quarters from some spare change for the laundry on day and I wasn't even spoken to. I'm sure being asked for $1.00 in quarters, opening the cash drawer, counting change, giving quarters was just too far outside of their daily give a shit And let's not forget hotel safety - which is top priority, I'm sure. The fire alarm goes off about once every other week. Once it was 2:00 a.m. which I'm not sure what someone would be cooking but I can guess. And again at about 6 a.m. which, by the time I got clothes on to go outside and got the dog hooked up, it stopped. And while we were there, COVID struck and there was NO CLEANING of the facility. None. We got out! I could go on and on but found (for the first time) that Yelp has a character limit! Bottom line, if it's not clear, I would not stay here again. read more

We'd grown accustomed to having a great stay at the Residence Inn, so we were were surprised by and disappointed about some of the accommodations at this particular location. The front desk staff was welcoming and pleasant but my husband had to visit them several times after check in because 1) there were no sheets for the sofa bed we needed to use (they're supposed to be on the closet shelf), 2) there were not enough towels for our family, and 3) the bathroom sink (the only one in our room) was clogged. In addition, the room itself was not in the greatest condition. The sofa cushions were stained and there were what appeared to be ink marks scribbled on the back of the desk chair. The shower was in need of a much better cleaning and the heater/AC unit was so loud that it was difficult to sleep. The lamps were scuffed and dingy and there was black duct tape and Scotch tape stuck to the walls in various places. A proper cleaning and some new accessories could easily fix this. Though our room wasn't the greatest, the complimentary breakfast we had the next morning was tasty. Options including chicken sausage, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, waffles, bagels, muffins, breads, oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, cold cereal, and a variety of hot and cold beverages meant that me, hubby, and all our kids had something good to eat. The breakfast attendant, Jose, was friendly and helpful. All in all, I'm glad we only had to stay here for a single night. I'm not ready to ditch all Residence Inns, but I'd look for a different one if staying in this area again. read more

Seems the Marriott name is going downhill in the housekeeping department all across the country. I have lived in the RI across the country from VA to WA. Seems they don't understand the "customer service" part of the process. The housekeeping here is no different. Used out points for this stay and think I got a "Priceline" room. To start the studio had literally a 1/2 roll of TP in it. No other rolls at all!? When I called the next morning do TP she asked if we were checking out today!? "No I'm here till Monday!" I replied. "Oh OK so I'll have them leave some in your room when they clean!" "NO!" I stated. "You will have someone bring up a roll now so we can use the bathroom!!" "Oh, ok!l" I mean seriously! This is ontop of a dirty shower, sticky kitchen floor and today NOT cleaning the room until 4pm!? I believe there needs to be a revamp of the Residence Inn work ethics since most of us have higher expectations of the Marriott brand. read more

First off, fridge wasn't working, second, could not turn the shower water on AND the shower head fell off! 3rd the room was filthy, they didn't provide washer rags, the lights consistently went out and we had to reset the breaker each time. For $186 a night, this is absolutely ridiculous. Also, apparently you can't pick up cereal after 9am. Due to COVID there is no hot breakfast, but 9am is a very early cutoff time. Other places allow until 10 usually. Definitely would not stay again. Staff was friendly, that's about all that was positive at this dump. read more

My wife and I checked in on 12/25/2019 for a four day stay. First I would like to give accolades to employees Derrick, Anisia(I think that is how she spells it) and Jiles(I think that is him, the man with the dredlocks). We are from LaPlata, down the road, and we stayed here seven years ago. The place has gone down hill fast. (1) The table legs in our room had been broken and glued back together poorly. (1) The wheel on the roll out in the dishwasher was broke. (3) The bed was piss poor. If you sit on the edge it collapses. I am a big guy but my wife is 5'5' 135 lbs and it did the same to her. I spoke to a young lady by the name of Kelly who was supposed to be the manager on duty and she said that all of the mattresses are like that. Friday evening we decided that it was not worth staying another day and we checked out, even though we would have to pay through Saturday. My wife's back could take it no longer. We have been staying at Marriott exclusively for the last 25 years and this place was one of the worst. Great employees though, until we met the Sales Manager, Peter. I asked him for the information of the franchise company who owned hotel and instead of writing it down he just told it to me. I kind of overreacted about the manner he gave the info to me and told him that the respectful manner to do this was to write it down for the customer, not to just stare at them and tell them. He said "you are disrespecting me as a black man, you don't have to talk to me that way". I said "what does black have to do with it"(I am black also)? I said "I used to work for Marriott and the proper way is to always write the info down for the customer. And what does black have to do with good customer service"? He said "he has been working for Marriott for 27 years and you need to lose some weight(I am a big,big guy. I have some weight and medical issues and I take about 22 pills a day to keep me going)". I said "are you trying to hurt my feelings"? He then walked off to the back room and as he did I told him that he was acting like a sissy. I wasn't angry, just surprised that someone who was supposed to be a Marriott manager would act in such a manner. And that he played the race and weight card on a customer who was just pointing out to him that his delivery was unprofessional. One of the employees apologized to me but I explained to them that it was not their fault and to not worry about it. My wife and I left the hotel. Peter had the verve to call me about 30 minutes later and explain to me that part of the exchange was my fault. I just hung up. He called me two more times but I did not answer. A poorly run hotel and rude staff are always a reflection of the General Manager not giving a dam. She is just collecting a check. :) I guess I need to lose some weight. Reserved a room for relatives (a family of 5) who were in town for Thanksgiving. Check-in was great and staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and I asked for a late checkout so the family would not have to rush on Thanksgiving. The family includes three young children. I was told we could have a late checkout until 1:00 pm. The family arrived and their stay was fine. The next morning I called the hotel to confirm that they could check out at 1:00 pm. I was told "No ma'am! Checkout is at 12." I explained that I had been told at check in that I could have a late checkout. I was rudely told again "No ma'am!" and that people were in the lobby who needed help. The employee said that I should not have been told that I could have a late checkout and that she would "speak with" the employee who checked me in. It doesn't matter what I should have been told; it matters what I was told when I checked in. The employee told me "don't let this ruin your day". I told the employee that her reply was rude and she replied that it was not and that she and everyone at the hotel were pleasant. I asked to speak to the manager and she said that she was the manager. I asked for the name of her supervisor or the regional manager. I left a voicemail message three days ago and have not received a response. Do not stay here. I will be reporting my experience to Marriott. This hotel has horrible customer service and does not honor their word. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I stayed at this hotel with my disabled husband and there were no containers that I could use to put the breakfast in or trays to take food back to the room. However, one of the employees in the breakfast area was kind of enough to tell me to put one plate on top of another. Well, that was such a big help of advice since she must have thought that it would have been too much like right to offer me help with all that I was carrying!The breakfast staff WAS NOT accommodating at all! The eggs tasted like someone had poured a gallon of salt in them. I called corporate and they said they would contact the manager. Someone from the front desk called me and told me the manager would not refund or reduce the rate for our inconvenience. The next morning I decided to get cold cereal for my disabled husband but when he ate it I found out that it was stale! The manager never contacted me personally. This hotel has really gone down to nothing! There was absolutely NO COMPASSION for my DISABLED HUSBAND!!! read more

First impression is everything!! Stayed here a couple of weeks ago. Walked into lobby to realize that the front desk was under staffed, but with that being said the lady was very nice and professional. Its just she had a gang of unhappy customers and she had no help. On another note, I was not happy with the room at all. From the moment you walk in there was a god awful stench as if the carpet smelled like vomit, stuffy and old. The leather Chair was so old it had scratches and tears in it, it really needed to be replaced. I didn't even want to sit in it and last but not least the ice machine in the fridge. It was off so there was no immediate access to any ice at all. Went to the front desk to ask about the machine and they said turn it on an give it about 15 minutes. 30 minutes later still no ice, went back to front office and she told me "Well I will talk to my Kitchen supervisor to see what we can do but we aren't allowed to give any ice." Again first impression is everything... They ended up bringing ice an hour later. read more
