Shower handle is configured wrong so you have to turn it to the cold water section for warm water and vice versa.

This hotel was hit and miss. The best part about the hotel was the front desk and Bistro staff. They were super friendly and always looking to be helpful. I was glad that they told me about renovations happening on the 3rd floor. When I arrived back from my meetings at 5:30pm to sleep before a very early departure in the morning they were hammering right above me. I was just about to complain when the work stopped at 6pm. While 5pm stop time may have been better, 6pm is not necessarily unreasonable, and I was happy to be able to get to bed early so I could be rested for a long drive the next morning. The room has a nice layout and was clean with the exception of the stains on the cloth fabric couch. I was disappointed that they had no usb ports in the room, so I couldn't lean on my phone cord for charging without the outlet prongs. The tub/shower was the worst part of the room. The body gel was torn from the wall and just placed on the back of the tub rather than maintenance reinstalling it. The faucet also periodically started dripping and draining for no reason whatsoever. But worst of all, I was wondering why the shower wouldn't get hot when the sink faucet easily pivoted from hot to cold. I figured out that, inexplicably, they had the fixture in wrong so that when the handle is pointed towards the red (hot) section the water is actually cold and you need to face the handle to the blue (cold) section to get warm water. Yes, the water never got hot but it was just warm enough for me to have a quick shower. I give them 3 stars mostly on the strength of the staff, but the room needs updating to get them to 4 stars or above.

I drove 5 hrs to attend an event in Waldorf, Maryland yesterday. I originally had another hotel booked, but when I arrived at that hotel, it was an absolute disgrace of how unkept the hotel was, the conditions and nonexisting customer service. I booked that hotel because of the close proximity to the event that my daughter and I had to attend; however, after that horrific experience, I decided to find a hotel brand that I trust - The Marriott brand. I quickly went online and booked a room at the courtyard Marriott in Waldorf. Although this hotel was a little further than my event destination, I was happy that they had availability. When I arrived at the hotel, I was excited to see from the outside that this was definitely the type of hotel that I would stay in. It was well kept and clean on the outside. Upon entering the hotel, my daughter and I were greeted very professionally with a smile by the rep at the counter. He got us checked in and gave us pertinent information to make our stay enjoyable. It was a refreshing feeling being treated like valued customers and seeing how clean and refreshing the lobby area was. Our room was on the second floor. On the way up, I was a bit nervous about the elevator because it made weird sounds and sounded like perhaps the door needed to be "greased"; it took a while to close and had a scratchy, dragging sound. The room was nice, clean, smelled good, and the beds were very comfortable. We were able to decompress from our previous experience and get ready for our event without any further issues. We had an enjoyable stay at this hotel. The next time I visit Waldorf, I definitely know where I need to stay.

I always have a good stay at all the Marriott hotels & the Courtyard was no different. The 1st thing that will always get you on my good side is letting me check in earlier than the given check in time. I arrived at around 1:45pm & check in wasn't until 3 but I was allowed to check in anyway which was glorious. Just wanted to relax and watch some shows & I did just that. I was put up on the 2nd floor towards the end of the hallway. When I got to my room I noticed there was a mini fridge and a microwave in the room which is always PERFECT!!! If you bring back food after a night of drinking you're going to want to heat it up in the middle of the night obviously. The television has internet tv so I was able to watch my YouTube & Netflix without a problem which is mandatory for all of my stays. The room was very clean and the bed was big & the pillows were quite soft. There is also a bistro in the lobby where I ordered a bacon egg & cheese 1 morning for breakfast & it actually was pretty good. Everything is made to order so it was fresh. You're in walking distance of shops & food options so the location is great. I think it's less than a mile from St Charles Mall also. There is only 1 complaint I had and it's with the shower. There wasn't a middle ground between cool & hot . The temperatures for the shower went from Freezing cold, to cold, to cool, to hot, to scorching hot. THERE WAS NO WARM SETTING no matter how slightly I adjusted the knob it went straight to hot ughhhh so frustrating. Fix yo shower Courtyard. Other than that my stay was great

I didn't truly get why the ratings were so low on this hotel. The staff was friendly, helpful and fixed an error found on my bill at check out. The lobby was clean and nicely decorated too. My only issue with this hotel was that my request to not be put by the elevator (part of my room requests as a Marriott gold member) was ignored and I was given a room right next to the elevator. So much noise...it was hard to sleep. Other than the room being too close to the elevator, this hotel was fine. So a solid 3.5 stars. I didn't eat breakfast and I didn't check out the bar so I can't give a higher review until I swing in again and try the other amenities.

Sink and Bathtub 9 pm at night!

I stay overnight May 16 this year. It was absolutely the worst stay I've had in ANY Marriott I've ever stayed in. Did I mention that I've been a Gold Member for over 15 years!! The Hot Water heater was replaced, but the Maintenance Department failed to drain the line. The water was burnt orange in color with a slight smell. I slept in places worst, but I was in Iraq! Totally disappointing. 3 hours of sleep at best!

    Mold on ceiling

Tne star only because I couldn't put 0. What a disaster this hotel is. It is not the Marriot quality I have grown to expect. The room #103 was a disaster. From what appeared to be blood on the carpet, smashed bugs on the ceiling, broken and hanging curtains, mold on the ceiling and walls and white substance all down the nightstand. The carpet was also unvacuumed with leaves and dirt around the room. It was so bad we didn't want to shower in the morning. Both my son and I woke up with headaches. I didn't see all this as we entered the room and went right to bed due to it being so late. It was when we woke up that everything was seen. The stay was already over, and there was no way to request a room switch. I used the App Chat function to try and resolve this. However, I received a response: "You will hear back from (name removed), our Guest Manager, within 30 minutes." It is now seven days later, and I haven't heard a word. Even though the chat stated a case was open, and the issue was forwarded to the Housekeeping Manager and Management team. The chat requested the opportunity to make this right. I guess the "Make it right" is to ignore my concerns and issues with a dump of a hotel. Not that I expect anything different from a management team that allows such filth in a room. I know that, being a Silver Elite level, I don't stay as much as other members, but I do stay enough with multiple families from hockey teams to know this is not normal Marriot quality. There is no excuse for being ignored by the Guest Services Manager. It just shows how committed the Courtyard Waldorf is to customer care. I wouldn't suggest staying at this hotel to anyone.

Where do I start? These 2 stars are solely for the young lady working the front desk overnight. I booked a room here for the weekend in celebration of my boyfriend's birthday. Keep in mind I booked this room 3 weeks in advance. Upon our arrival, we walk into a room that's completely not what I reserved. I asked for a room with a King bed & sofa bed and received a room with two queen beds instead. We were told all the King bed rooms have sold out. We decided to just deal with it and spend our romantic evening sharing one of the queen beds. After looking around the room, I began to notice little things. I have attached some pictures for you guys. We went downstairs around 11pm to check out the whirlpool, just to discover that they close everything at 10pm. Yet another romance fail. So due to the room inconvenience, they promised us free breakfast the next morning. We go down to check out breakfast the next morning to discover the cafe is closed because they are short staffed! At this point I'm pissed and the girl at the front desk is nice enough to take $27 off my bill for the inconvenience.... Lesson of the day: You get what you pay for. If you want a nice room, put up the money!!

Likes: -The layout of our room...things are functionally separated. The fridge is NOT inside a cabinet under the TV. It has its own little spot with the microwave and coffee maker. -Love the style of the rooms. The closet is made out of wood and has sections for stuff. -The bathroom is also nice. I usually have something to say about how ridiculous the bathroom is layed out... like how they have the toilet partially under the sink... or how it's too close to the bath tub...etc. But this bathroom, I can't find anything I dislike. -Free fast wifi. It's not like the other hotel's that takes forever to open a page. Dislike: -Small fridge. I guess you won't notice how tiny the fridge is unless you stay for a while. :/ -There was only three pillows on our bed. I guess that's their thing for double queen beds. It's a minor thing that can be remedied by asking the front desk. But I'm just saying how they only had three pillows rather than the regular four pillows. -There is no mirror besides the ones inside the bathroom. I didn't mind it at first, but it became ridiculous especially when everyone is trying to get ready.

While the event space itself is beautiful, my experience with the staff and catering was extremely disappointing. From start to finish, the event staff were unprofessional and rude to my guests. Several guests were told they could only have one plate despite us paying for an open buffet, which caused embarrassment. One catering staff member even pushed my mother and maintained a negative attitude throughout the event. I also became ill after eating the turkey meatballs we ordered. I do not eat beef, yet the food appeared to contain beef, causing severe stomach discomfort for me. Interestingly, my guests did not have any issues, which suggests there may have been a mistake in the preparation. I brought these concerns to the attention of the event coordinator, who I believe is the owner, Carla, but the staff's behavior was excused rather than addressed. Unfortunately, despite the beautiful space, I cannot recommend Grace Event Center due to the unprofessionalism of the staff and catering issues. I would suggest considering other venues to avoid a similar experience.

If you choose to book here, I strongly recommend hiring a team to assist with setup and breakdown, booking extra time for preparation, and being prepared for unclear policies and last-minute surprises. I booked this venue four months in advance for an event originally scheduled for February 22nd. Due to personal reasons, I rescheduled to March 22nd, which was fully allowed under the contract as long as the date was available. The owner initially agreed to the change, but weeks later, she denied any record of our conversation. I had to screen-record our text exchange to prove that she had, in fact, approved the reschedule. This level of disorganization was frustrating and made me uneasy about the overall experience. From the start, communication was inconsistent and unclear. For our first scheduled venue viewing, the owner contacted me at 3:00 PM on the day of our 7:30 PM appointment and asked to move it to 6:30 PM. I agreed, only to arrive and be told to wait in my car because another couple was ahead of me. By the time she came to get me, it was already 7:30 PM--our original appointment time--making the change completely unnecessary and inconvenient. Leading up to the event, responses were delayed, vague, and sometimes contradictory. One major issue was the lack of access to the venue for proper event planning. I requested an additional walkthrough for my decorator but was repeatedly met with resistance. Instead of offering solutions, I was told to reference photos on social media. After multiple attempts, her assistant was eventually permitted to show us the space, but we were told not to ask her any questions--making the entire viewing pointless. Additionally, I received conflicting information about setup. The assistant mentioned that tables and chairs would be arranged if we provided a layout, but the owner later denied this, leaving us scrambling on the day of the event. Another miscommunication arose regarding a slideshow feature, which had been mentioned early in the booking process. I was only informed six days before the event that photos needed to be submitted at least a week in advance. Despite my best efforts, I missed the last-minute deadline by a few hours due to illness and was told the slideshow would not be done. The owner later agreed to "possibly" include it, but on the day of the event, there was no slideshow, and no communication about it. I had to follow up myself, only to be met with disappointment. On the day of the event, the venue was not in ideal condition. The walls were stained black from scuff marks left by chairs, trash was still in the kitchen and bathroom bins, remnants of tape and glitter were on the floors, and the freezer was packed with large bags of ice. Some tables and chairs were damaged. I had clearly communicated that I only needed eight tables and sixteen chairs, but when I arrived, fifty chairs were lined along the walls and the tables were stored near the sink. The owner denied receiving my request, despite proof, and stated that it was not her responsibility to remove furniture. Since there was no designated storage space for extra chairs, my guests and I had to carry each one outside to the back of the venue--only to bring them all back inside at the end of the event. While the chairs weren't heavy, the process was tedious and should not have been our responsibility. Clean-up was another issue. I was only informed the night before that trash had to be hauled to a public dumpster down the street. This last-minute notice made it difficult to plan accordingly. In the days leading up to the event, the owner seemed more focused on enforcing rules, penalties, and fees--such as a $500 charge for a lost key--rather than providing helpful guidance or customer service. Basic improvements like a PIN-code lock could eliminate this unnecessary hassle. There was no follow-up after the event--no thank-you message or acknowledgment of our booking, just complete silence.
