Truly comforting. My husband did downed us this night. So my daughters and I chose this hotel. I didn't care about where we were etc. However, upon walking in there was a fire pit going on and the smell of pine smoke was comforting, like I was going home. We walk in to a younger man at the front desk greeting us with smiles and a helping hand. FREE FRESH COOKIES, hot apple cider with cinnamon sticks, AND fresh popcorn. Made the kids happy, which made me happy. There's a pool! They allow pets! The room was SPOTLESS and comfy. We only stayed a night but I wish I could live there! Beautiful, spacious, well-designed room with every possible amenity. Free breakfast with a variety that should meet most tastes. Nice common areas, including patio with fire pit. Planned to write a glowing review until we checked out Sunday morning. My husband complimented the older woman seemingly training the younger at reception on our experience, then asked if they gave First Responder discounts. Her response? "We don't give any discounts. These weekends are killing us. There's too many people. We're supposed to be a corporate hotel. It's too much work and we're not making any money." Well, and have a nice day to you, too! I traveled to Hazelton (1 hour 45 minutes) with my family looking forward to a fun stay at the Residence Inn Hazelton. I knew it was going to be bad upon check-in. I had a confirmation for a 2 bedroom suite (king bed/queen bed) with a full kitchen. However, the room offered was nothing like what I booked. It took an extra long time to check in because the staff at the front desk even questioned the type of room offered. I entered the room and was not happy to be in an accessible room. I called the front desk to let them know that I was dissatisfied because I needed the room that I booked with a full kitchen so that I could prepare dinner for my family. I was told accessible rooms didn't have a full kitchen and nothing else was available. I requested a different room or a refund and then asked to speak to the manager. I was told that the manager left and that I couldn't speak to her until the next day. Very disturbing and unacceptable because the room I booked was falsely advertised. I was told that a message would be left for the manager. My sister went to the front desk to request a different room and she was told other rooms were available; however, they were for people who were arriving later. So they also tell lies here. The manager was called and said we could leave. No offer to find us another hotel, no apology for not providing us with the room that we booked--just told us we could leave. Is this what you learned at customer service training? So we left--30 minutes after we arrived. I travel to many places and have not never experienced such poor treatment. I will not ever stay at another Marriott property and definitely not the Residence Inn Hazelton. The worst experience ever! I rated this experience a 1 star but it really doesn't deserve any. Please consider a new manager who knows about customer service and how to treat paying customers. read more

Oh Pennsylvania do I love you?!! I really do ! PA is so much alike to Upstate NY. There is so much to see, shop, and do. The nature and the fresh air is about the same....I just cannot pick a favorite yet. Having to go to PA, my friend wanted to come along and she is an expert at finding excellent locations and restaurants. I mean, I usually run it by her, she can be the best tour planning guide. She has skills yo!...She found this hotel on Google and we picked it because it has a pool! Not only that, it has a heated pool at 103 degrees! Omg! This one was one of the most relaxing hotel stay I had. My favorite hotels are the one with pools, the heated pool was the best to make my body and muscles relaxed, I felt my body relaxed for 3 days after my hotel stay here. A girls daycation, felt like a week off from work and the daily routine, a so much needed break. I am a fan of Marriott Hotels, the bed, ohhh the bed! Here I go again... it was soft and gentle, excellent, I got the feeling of sleeping on clouds rather than a bed, so yes, it was an absolute rest. I don't know about other people, but I am an sleepy head....I love sleeping more than eating, I love it too much..lolol. sleep is brainfood for me. All I need to be happy is a good night of sleep. The room was absolutely comfy, modern and spacious. It was the first time I saw a hotel room that look like a Studio. It had a small kitchen area, with a refrigerator, counter top stove, a dish washer area. This would be the best place to stay if one had to stay for a few days in this area. Free parking and breakfast included with the hotel stay. I always try to visit new places, I look for this type of places where there is not too many people and I can just relax and get away from all the crowd and noise of NY. So I wanted to give it a 3.5 but pushed it to 4. The room is clean and comfortable. I did find an empty Nike shoe box in the cupboard. So, I am not sure how well the cleaning is done. My towels in bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke (stale cigarettes) which as an ex smoker I can really smell it. The bed is comfortable and the couch is nice too. So, my TV doesn't work not a big deal to me I can use my lap top. Big deal to me is that I took the remote down to the front desk myself and was very polite. The staff was obliging but the minute I walked away they made those groaning sounds that customer service employees do and I have done it. But, it disappointed me because I had been genuinely nice to her and polite to her. But, it's okay made do with what I have. read more

Stayed here on points one weekend. The room was just OK, good size and pretty clean except the hideous office chair. The TV in the room was ancient and the channel options weren't great. The shower was very very dark though (light too a long time to brighten and it still wasn't very bright). Their pet fee is very reasonable compared to other places ($20 here). Breakfast really wasn't too good so we didn't eat it during our stay. Food options in the area were also extremely disappointing (we do not recommend sonic in the slightest). Employees were friendly but we did hit some snags along the way. We asked for a late checkout the night before and were told we would have to check again in the morning. We checked again and were told we were already confirmed? Which was bizarre and not communicated to us beforehand. We weren't the only people with a dog during our stay and our dog was the best behaved (minimal barking). We had gone to sleep and were woken up with a phone call at 11pm telling us to tell our dog not to bark... except it wasn't our dog but the two small dogs in two nearby rooms who were uncontrollably yapping any time someone walked by. It would have behooved the front desk to go check out the noise rather than calling and waking up innocent guests. We had trouble going to sleep after that. read more

This is probably the best cheapest hotel I have ever stayed in. The standard room came with a king size bed and full size kitchen with all the appliances and living room all for 120$ a night. The hotel has a pool and hot tub and a small gym. Complimentary breakfast everyday and dinner 3 nights a week. Hazleton is pretty boring, but if you had to stay in this town this is the hotel to stay in. read more

First time staying at Hazelton, PA. Was pretty impressed how clean the hotel rooms were. They provide everything in the kitchen including dishwashing soap and sponges. They have free breakfast in the morning - standard fare - powdered eggs, potatoes and waffle machine. Reason I gave it three stars was the pool area. Now, I don't know how often they clean the pool and hot tub, but I saw a lot of hair in the hot tub (when the jets turn on- look for it on the foam). It was really gross. They should clean the pool area several times a day - I don't think they do that. read more

Avoid! This place really is a dump. I don't even know where to begin! Unprofessional, rude staff at the front desk (who appeared ready to fight me after I complained). They really employ some classless hillbillies here. Breakfast has strange hours. The front desk does not even inform you of the strange hours when you check in. The cleanliness of this hotel is questionable. My card was charged three times for a one-night stay. The lady at the front desk said I checked in on Friday when I checked in on Saturday. She was looking at another guest's reservation! The incompetence is shocking! I know there are not many places around here to stay, but anything is better than this place. The management really needs to train their staff better. This place gives Marriott a bad name. I reported the property to Marriott Bonvoy. When I got to my room I found a half eaten meal in the microwave, including a metal fork. The carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in weeks and the closet had the empty bag from a daybed tossed in. Two days into my stay housekeeping must have come by to make the bed and empty the trash. The one towel I had used got changed and the one towel for the floor was removed but not replaced. Nothing else was done. I complained and got told that they will take one night off my bill and they did but I had requested a corporate rate with a local business that is usually $118 when I checked in but ended up getting charged the full price without the corporate rate. I used to stay in this hotel all the time years ago and was always happy. What happened? read more

If you plan to be here more than a few nights, find a different hotel. Housekeeping is very hit and miss, the hotel says to schedule housekeeping, and they don't show up. On check in, the room I was offered had dirty dishes in the sink, and half eaten food in the refrigerator. The front desk help is far from any help, and a few of the people at the front desk need to get out of the hospitality field, or need some serious retraining. Some of these reps of marriot are very anti social. The only person who is professional and seems to genuinely care is Toni. If you have to do laundry, good luck as those washers and dryers are in terrible shape and poorly maintained, however the poor maintenance fits the theme of this neglected marriot property. As Hurricane Irene quickly approached, the Residence Inn parking lot was packed when we arrived and I expected to be turned away with no availability. Fortunately, they had a room for us and we were quickly checked in for the evening. The room featured a full kitchen, king sized bed, pull out sofa and the layout was extremely spacious. Despite people sitting outside by what looked like a bonfire, we weren't bothered by any noise from outside or in the hallways. Pet friendly! read more

Absolutely wonderful stay! Husband and I hiking the Appalachian trail and decided to treat ourselves to a hotel the night of our wedding anniversary. The staff was absolutely amazing! We popped out to run an errand and came back to find that the ladies from the front desk had gathered a basket with a few 'hiker friendly treats' and a really lovely anniversary card and left them in our room as a surprise!!! Slow internet connection Ok -this isn't my first time to this place and like the other times - it's my preference for where I hang my clothes when I am in Hazelton PA! Having said that, it typically has slower connections then other locations. However, it has an indoor swimming pool with hot tub - Social times in the lobby with free food and drinks - large spacious clean rooms well stocked with what you need - comfortable beds with a variety of pillows (one is sure to fit your likes) and decent parking! There is one thing that ALL hotels should ensure it available in the rooms! Seeing that a large portion of their guest are from out of town and perhaps out of state - it would be nice if they'd start supplying guest with a TV listing. It's always hard to figure out what channels my shows are on! Overall - this place is always going to be my "go to" place in Hazleton! read more

Stayed here a few weeks ago, during a business trip. All of my work collogues choose this location when traveling in Hazleton, due to it being clean, fairly priced and possessing large rooms, to move around it. I agree with these recommendations. There are not a lot of options, in the area, so this is one of your better choices. We have a business location in Hazleton and Residence Inn is a good choice. The staff is friendly and cares about your experience. The rooms are large and provide a nice kitchen and expanded seating area. The rooms are clean, sanitized and have just about everything you could ask for in an extended stay. In the morning, they provide a continental breakfast. During Covid, it was a to-go bag, but more than adequate. I would stay here again in the future. The one thing I would call out as needing attention is attention to the surroundings. The trash cans near the entrance doors were jammed packed the entire time I was there. Never empties - same trash over-flowing. Also, the hallways have a musty smell and could stand a cleaning. read more

We decided to do a long weekend in the Poconos (even though we only live 2 hours away) and ended up here because I wanted to get some more Marriott points to maintain my elite status and we had a dog with us. This is a clean, well-furnished hotel that's overwhelmingly pet-friendly. We met at least a dozen dogs while we were here. Our family opted for a one-bedroom suite, which was roomy and comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked. Staff were really friendly, rates were decent and competitive, and we enjoyed our stay. read more

If you are a Marriott Rewards Member and expecting to be treated with the same warm welcome and appreciation that you normally receive at every other Marriott in the country, you should definitely avoid this Residence Inn (or any property managed by Veronica Garcia for that matter). I have no issues with the property itself. I have stayed here several times. My poor rating is based entirely on the terrible attitude of the general manager during my most recent stay. Essentially, you will never be upgraded, even if you are Platinum (and you have a baby with you that would sleep much better in a separate bedroom for her naps). The GM believes that the way she treats rewards members is up to the "discretion of the hotel." She will tell you there are no other rooms available, until you book yourself into one and pay more for it on your phone while standing at the front desk. Then, she will admit that she has the rooms available, but is not willing to put you in one... or "if you want to word it like that." Sadly, if you look at the other 1 or 2 star reviews on the Marriott site, you will notice a pattern. I am disappointed that Marriott has not done anything about her. read more

Residence Inn is my go to hotel when traveling with my kids, because they have a 2 bedroom suite. I also enjoy the kitchenette even though I only utilize the refrigerator. In the kitchenette there is a stove, but no dishwasher or oven. I still prefer these suites over a regular hotel room, because just having a room with a bed and a TV looks boring. I like to have a "home" like feeling. This location is about 25 miles from the Jack Frost and Split Rock Ski Resorts. It is not much to do in the area, but you can take the 30 minute drive to Wilkes-Barre for other options. The only issue was the staff was rather disengaged, but overall it was a nice stay. read more

It was the first time I've stayed at a Residence Inn and won't be the last time. It is about 35-40 mins away from Camelback and Big Boulder but well worth it. Upon arrival, the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. The woman promptly looked up information for a ski resort and offered to bring a brochure up to our room. The room itself was very homey and clean. There was a gas fireplace in the living room. Free breakfast every morning was always fresh with quite a selection. The ladies who run the breakfast area were very sweet and friendly. The amenities such as the gym and pool/jacuzzi were clean. There's also a tennis court. At night they offer free "mixes" in the breakfast area. Last night we attended and they had a spread of desserts and wine. My husband and I were very impressed with our whole experience and would definitely try other Residence Inn locations. We will definitely be back to this one. Wifi did not work. Paid $125 for my pet when the website clearly stated it was only $100. Had to argue with the staff to credit the difference. Then they refused to do it, their paper said $125!!!! Rooms were less than mediocre for $172 on a Saturday night. I will not stay in Residence Inn in Charlottesville. The Omni is 10 times the hotel this was and I will be staying there from now on. My husband and I live in Hazleton, but needed to stay here a few months back because they were doing road work and we were informed we'd be without water for several hours - and possibly until the next day. We opted to stay the night in a hotel rather than have to run to our parents in the morning to take showers. I worked for a hotel (one of the most upscale hotel chains out there) and believe it or not, the hotel I worked for paled in comparison to this. The rooms were comfortable, modern, clean, and spacious. The staff was second to none. I've stayed in other Marriott's - while they were nice, they were nothing like this one. This hotel has free wi-fi (pretty fast- I had to download a few documents that were 100+ pages and it was quick), 24 hour gym, a pool, guest laundry and free breakfast. We have been here for 5 days, front desk staff cannot answer basic questions, housekeeping has been consistently bad, if you leave crumbs in bed, they will stay there & on carpet too. Sheets, towels & pillow cases look like they were just bought at thrift store, sheets fraying & torn, bad fitting mattress pads, pilling on pillow cases, sheets at least could be ironed. Pet friendly...unfriendly pets. I was cornered by a full size Afgan hound in hallway barking at full volume. Owners finally reeled it in. If that wasn't enough, next trip down same hall a cocker spaniel was growling at me and leaps up to end of leash. For those who think I was teasing them...I was headed to laundry with basket and froze in both cases until owners responded. No words exchanged, not even an apology from owners. Management needs to clue the owners in on how to keep dogs on short reign. Too bad since hotel is rather nice and clean with great staff. read more

Driving north on 81 decided to pull over for the night. We had found a coupon for this place in one of those rest-stop coupon books. This is literally the best hotel deal I think I have ever had, for $79 per night we have a small apartment. Full kitchen with stove, full fridge, microwave, dishes, etc. Livingroom with couch and recliner, king bed, two room bath, full closet, etc, etc. Also, free hot breakfast and free coffee/tea/hot chocolate delivered outside your door in the am, just by hanging the request on your door the night before. A jar of mints on the counter, free microwave popcorn and coffee on the room. A TV on swivel, so you can watch from the livingroom, or the bed. Very comfy bed, soft towels, nice pool and exercise room. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Excellent layout design to keep noise between rooms to a minimum. Probably not much to do in this area, but as a stop over for the night, this place cannot be beat -but get the rest area coupon, or you will pay much more! read more

Perfect room as we are journeying west, moving back home to Chicago from Hoboken. We have our large dog, luggage etc....walking into the room, it just looks quite comforting after watching our movers load boxes all day- what a surprise. I like this particular room over the hundreds of other Marriott rooms I've had over the last 10 yrs.
