Kind of an interesting hotel. When you enter from the parking lot you are on the 4th of 5 floors. I was on floor 2 so I had to take the elevator down to my room. But the hotel is on the side of steep hill so the window faced a really beautiful early fall view of the surrounding landscape. I found the room layout to be a bit awkward. The desk was small and came pre cluttered with things like a gigantic landline phone, some random electronic device with RJ45 connectors on both ends but not plugged into anything and a large alarm clock. I threw all that stuff into a corner so that I could use the desk for what I wanted to use it for. The room was well worn but not in bad shape. The thermostat is legit and you can get your room down into the low 60s F if you want to. The hallways stink but the rooms don't. Mostly blue collar traveling workers from what I saw, which is what I am. read more

Don't leave valuables in your room here. I was "checked out" while at work - even though I clearly stated a 2 night stay. No receipt under the door in the morning to tip me off. I understand mistakes can be made, but it would have been nice if they didn't put half my stuff in the trash can, and steal the other half? They agreed to put me up in a smoking room and I stupidly accepted. There was a FOG OF SMOKE when I opened the door. I turned the AC on and left, hoping for some fresh air to pour in. Nope. Windows don't open either. The whole floor, hallway, and elevator smells like stank smoke. I was in the room a total of 10 mins and my wife asked why I smelled so bad when I drove all the way home instead of staying in that hellhole. Of course they refused to give any $ back because I had entered the room... So if you enter the room and it's disgusting, you're not getting $ back - sorry. No breakfast either. I would gladly take the $50 trucker motel room over this place any day of the week. read more

They are currently remodeling and I lucked out in a newer suite! They do allow smoking but only on the first first, the elevators definitely smell like it though. They have a VERY basic "gym" but other than that no amenities like a pool or free breakfast. I am a travel nurse and this fits my needs perfect along with an excellent hospital discount but if not for the discount I'd say this place is a bit over priced. read more

Neat place. Nice little pantry by the front desk stocked with all sorts of goodies...including my favorite oatmeal that I eat every day. Built into the side of a mountain, the view of the valley is good. The place is built for extended stays, so the room we have is equipped with a kitchen( stove top, fridge/freezer with ice maker, dishwasher and microwave) the bed is super comfy. Feels like a home away from home. This is one of the better hotels I've stayed in. I like it lot! The front desk girl was really helpful and nice recommending things for us to do in the area. I would definitely stay here or any other candlewood inn again. The only reason I say 4 star and not 5 is because we are smokers. The smokers are banished(haha not really banished) to the bottom floor. The room smelled perfectly fine....but the hallway of the first floor (the main floor is the 4th floor, weird but cool layout for a hotel) smelled HORRIBLE. BUT I'm not sleeping in the hallway so I'm happy. Lol!! read more

So let me start by reviewing the hotel itself - so much more than a "budget" hotel which was what I was expecting. The rooms were immaculate and so comfortable. The layout was great, the kitchen a huge plus. Little things like extremely comfy beds/linens, and a super nice showerhead made it feel like we were staying in a luxury hotel. This was reason enough for the five star review - the accommodations alone. It's the service here though that really struck me. Every person I interacted with here was beyond friendly and helpful. Service like that is hard to find (at least in dc where I live...) I accidentally left my book in our room, and called to see if I could have it shipped to me. They told me they had it and will ship it out to me ASAP - I know it seems small, but that really meant a lot to me. I may not be back in Hazleton anytime soon, but the staff here has be a candlewood fan for life. Truly, if you're around, stay here. A+ read more

Less than two weeks before my stay they called me to tell me that they overbooked and I no longer have a room. They offered no alternate solutions, and were very unapologetic. Put them on a list of places I wouldn't stay. read more

Not sure what makes this so special for folks. Decent rooms, loud cooling units at a not-so-great rate. It's a room, it's clean (is this special?) and you can sleep there. No pool, no decent food (and what they have is way costly) in a relatively worn-out town. Guess it works well for extended stay, but for a better deal for an overnight stay, try across the street at the Hampton Inn. BTW, discounts such as AAA seem to be allowed as they see fit..."one of the last rooms, so we don't discount." read more

Fantastic Hotel!! Very clean rooms, pet friendly, and staffs are very nice and welcoming! Being skeptical of hotels, I definitely had to check the beds and inspect every detail of the room. Mattresses appear to be new, as written in previous comments, new mattresses were bought in 2016. Everything including the bathroom, kitchen, and desk area were spotless. Curtesy coffee every morning and 24/7 convenience area for snacks and beverages (additional price). This hotel is built for long stays so a kitchen and appliances (stove, fridge, freezer, microwave, utensils, pots) are provided in your room. The elevator smells like smoke but if you're on the non smoking floors, you'll be okay. They have dvds and additional appliances, as well as board games in the lobby that you are allowed to rent out free of charge. I stayed in the queen studio suite and absolutely fell in love with my room. NO STARS. Smoker's delight. This place's appearance is run down, very tattered American and Candlewood Suite flags on their flagpole, portico visibly damaged without repair and stucco falling off, the staff is aloof and present a "could not care less" attitude. If on corporate business, be prepared to have to surrender your personal credit card plus extra for possible room damages- what kind of place is this if going to damage the room?? I was supposed to be here on business, not on my own expense, and have never had to present my own card on hold when corporate already paid. Also, only smoking rooms were available, or must cancel and rebook at higher cost for nonsmoking, the front desk staff said. Their loss, not that they appeared to care. We have stayed at Candlewood Suites up and down the East Coast because our dogs are always welcome. As always, the rooms are clean. We usually have a 1 bedroom suite but since we made this reservation at the last minute due to Hurricane Sandy we had 1 room with a kitchen. Not as much room for the groceries because it is not a suite but we made do. The staff here is the most warm, gracious and helpful and have gone out of their way! read more

I stayed at Candlewood while visiting Hazleton. The suite I stayed in was very clean (not a speck of dust or dirt anywhere). The bed linens were soft and comfortable as was the bed. I haven't slept that well in a long time. The shower was spotless and the towels were soft as well. The view of the mountains from my suite was beautiful. The morning light shining in to wake me up was just perfect as well, not too bright. Coffee in the lobby was complimentary (I had a few cups in the morning while I was there, I admit). I had a fantastic time overall and hope to stay in Candlewood Suites going forward when I have to travel, whether for business or pleasure. read more

Had a king size suite. The room was a good size and clean. Absolutely no hotel smell or any other smell. Electrical outlets where they should be at the correct location and height. Powerful and fast wireless and wired internet Friendly and polite staff. Great location just off 81. Real close to the dart tournament that we went to. I am very upset with Candlewood Suites. Is the fact that your customer is in a wheelchair give you the right to treat that person with indifference and a total lack of respect?? We had booked a handicap accessible room. When we got to our room it had a bath tub. A person with muscular dystrophy needs a roll in shower which is what we booked thru Trip Advisor and booking.com The front desk said it was booking.com's mistake and that the online websites were often inaccurate. They then said they didn't have any handicap rooms left. I then asked them to check their computer. Low and behold they did have one left. Of course this was after they sent us to the wrong room. They saw when we first arrived that my girlfriend was in a wheel chair. The 2 women at the front desk made it sound like we were bothering them to get this straightened out. They grilled me as to whether I used the toilet or sat on the bed, because if we had that would be a problem. Speaking of problems...I'd like my money back. Booking.com confirmed I was to be billed $122 including taxes and fees. When I checked my debit card's billing I was billed $132 thru Candlewood Suites...shouldn't this have been billed thru booking.com or Trip Advisor? One a scale of 1 to 10 you people get a minus 10. I will never, ever recommend you to anyone and will repeat this bad experience to all my friends. I hope you have gotten the message.. read more

Horrible Customer service. Rude, condescending staff. Be careful how you book, cheapest rates are completely non-refundable and you will be charged the moment you make the reservation. Even if you cancel 3 days in advance! Although policy states you can cancel 2-4 HOURS in advance, that's not if you booked "Lowest rate available". read more

Comfortable rooms, decent sized kitchens, and dog friendly. Also, it has a beautiful view from the back side of the hotel. We only stayed here for one night and used points, so I can't comment on the price. But the one room studio with a queen and kitchenette was comfortable. The hotel is pretty quiet, although the curtains didn't block out enough sun in the morning. The lobby has a good pantry to buy oatmeal, ice cream (I had a sore throat and needed something cool), juices and other items. We usually stay in la quintas because we travel with our dog, but this place was equally dog friendly. Unfortunately, they charge a high dog fee. read more

Very nice hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here although we were only here for 1 night. Megan at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The hotel must be new since everything seemed new. The view from our room was a grat view of the valley. The room had everything we needed for a long-term stay: full sized fridge, microwave, range, dishes, pots/pans, cleaning supplies, ironing board & iron, dvd player, coffee maker, utensils, etc. There was ample parking and it was very quiet in our room and in the halls. We didn't use the gym but it appeared to have a lot of equipment and the equipment seemed quite new. I only have a few complaints and they are quite minor. The bed wasn't too comfortable. It wasn't bad but just not as comfortable as I was expecting for such a new hotel. Still, I had no problems sleeping. Also, the elevator smelled like cigarette smoke. Very minor complaint as you only spend seconds in the elevator. Lastly, the GPS location of the hotel was not accurate so we had a little trouble finding the place until we called the hotel and they gave us excellent directions. Not sure if this is the fault of the hotel or not...as i'm not sure how that works. I do wish the hotel had a bar/restaurant or they sold wine/beer in the convenience store but then the hotel might not be as quiet as we had it. We really loved staying here and will stay here on all our return trips to the area. For the price, it really can't be beat. read more

The rooms were very, very clean and the staff was very friendly. The full kitchen comes pretty handy - the full fridge can make ice on its own. The suite comes with everything you need, from blow dryer and iron, to dish soap and paper towels. There is free wi-fi and they provide good channels. Only complaint is that the suites are not very sound proof - we could hear our neighbors making breakfast easily. We could hear conversations in the hallway and housekeeping which interrupted our sleep pretty frequently. read more

We stayed here heading north with a pup. The place is totally clean, staff is helpful and cordial and for less than $100 with tx and dog fee one cannot go wrong! I read other comments before booking and here are my additional comments: The halls do reek strongly of smoke but the room itself was spotless and did not smell at all. The bed is indeed in an odd location but we pulled it sideways so that both sides of the bed could be accessed. It was not that hard to figure out! The ice maker was broken in the fridge and no other ice was available. All in all I would say that this an excellent option for all! read more

I was extremely impressed with the accommodations at this hotel! Our intention was to spend most of our time in Jim Thorpe, however we did not want to pay the higher prices of their accommodations. Candlewood Suites was the perfect place to stay, as the king room was only $90/night, had a mountain view, full fridge and freezer, dishwasher, stove, and large bathroom. It was very quiet, the front desk was a nice as could be, and the tv had an hdmi cord outlet along with HBO. Can't really beat this place in terms of price, based on what you are getting. FYI, si, nce it is an extended stay, there is housekeeping only once a week, which did not both us. read more

The entry way had a horrible smell to it, the bed was less than a foot away from the wall on one side making it difficult for who ever sleeps on that side of the bed, the heat/AC unit was so noisy it would wake up the dead, no type of breakfast included like most hotels offer, and there would have been a great view of the valley if they cut the trees back. Even though I am a federal employee and received a discount during my stay I feel you would be better off choosing another place. read more

We have stayed at the Candlewood Suites Hotel in Hazelton a few times. We travel between NC and NH a few times a year for and try to plan our over night at this hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and reasonably priced. We usually arrive late, bring our dinner with us, heat it up in the microwave in the kitchenette. Definitely recommend this hotel! read more
