Fairfield Inn is an OK hotel for a night or two. They offer free parking, complimentary breakfast, and plenty of seating in the lobby. One of the services that direly needs to be updated is their "business center", which is just an old Dell desktop with a printer. The computer was extremely slow to open programs, navigate the internet, and print documents. My room was OK, nothing special. The bed was clean and comfortable, but it was somewhat hard to sleep because the AC/heating unit sounded like someone snoring throughout the night. At least the hallways were fairly quiet to counteract that. The shower water pressure was nice, though it would've been better if the temperature could get hotter. It was only warm. That goes for the sink as well - it didn't produce hot water let alone warm. I could only wash my hands in cold water. Hazleton is a small town, so it makes sense that there would not be any five star hotels nearby. If you like free breakfast and parking this is the place to stay. It's also the closest Marriott to the town. A short-term stay wouldn't break the bank and the hotel is convenient and comfortable. read more

We had a great stay at the Fairfield in Hazleton. The property was clean, well dictated, and very welcoming. Emily at the front desk was incredibly pleasant and friendly. She greeted us with a warm smile and even handed us a gift bag at check-in, which such a nice touch. While the hotel is a bit older, the staff clearly takes pride in keeping everything well maintained. Our room was spacious, the A/C worked great, and the bathroom had great water pressure. We also took advantage of the indoor pool and dry sauna, both were spotless and in great condition. The lobby had a refreshing water cooler that stayed cool and fully stocked all day, along with well maintained coffee station, with regular, decaffeinated and hot water for tea. This was a comfortable and relaxing stay, and we'll definitely book again. Great hotel, great staff, and great experience. read more

This hotel is overall clean and safe. You can tell it's aging but they do their best to give it an upscale feel. There is a Starbucks in the parking lot and a decent restaurant/sports bar as well that gives 10% off to hotel guests. I was able to get an upgrade on my most recent trip and enjoyed the added space of the two room suite. read more

I booked a room at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Hazelton, PA on One Woodbine Street. The concierge canceled my room at 9:45PM tonight because of my dog and even asked for service animal proof/certification (he is). Consider ADA training for your employees, @Marriott. The concierge left me with no recommendations within the area for hotels that are "pet-friendly" or, rather, compliant with ADA rules and regulations, but she did leave me with a flattering compliment for my dog, "He really is very cute!" . read more

If I were the CEO of Marriott International, I would be embarrassed to have a hotel as bad as Fairfield Inn operating under the Marriott brand. On April 20th, we arrived and got checked in, and then everything went downhill from there. We alerted the front desk that our TV had stopped working and were told that someone would be right up to fix it. After waiting for over an hour, we received a call back telling us that the maintenance man was on lunch, which was more like a sabbatical because the TV never got fixed. As a result, we relied on our phones and laptops for entertainment until the internet stopped working. To make matters worse, the swimming pool was also closed, so we thought the next best thing would be to take a shower. But there was brown water coming out of the shower head and faucet. We alerted the staff and were offered a free case of bottled water for us to wash up in the fucking sink! Under those circumstances, how could a reasonable person not be furious? If this were the only hotel in town with a vacancy, I would probably buy a tent and set up shop at the local Walmart. On vacation in PA and needed a place to stay for one night, this place does it fine. Checking in was a quick easy breeze. We got the key cards to our rooms and settled in. Our rooms were a bit outdated and small comparing to other Marriott chain hotel. There's no microwave in the room but if you need to use one, go to the lobby dining area and use it. Shortly after we checked in, we changed to our swimsuits and went to the pool. I've been wanting to go to the hot tub and boy was it hot. To our surprised, this hotel has a sauna and yes, it's nice and hot. The pool itself was also warm. The pool water temperature was literally just a bit cooler than the hot tub which is another yes, in my book!!! Breakfast everyday begins at 6am to 10am. The selection is pretty good. There's waffle station, cereal and oatmeal, bagels and toast, yogurt, fruits, eggs, sausages and bacons, juice, coffee/tea/got chocolate. Staff is nice a friendly. Our sleep was pretty good. The only white noise that bothered me is the mini fridge but that's because I'm such a light sleeper. It didn't bother my family at all. read more

The hotel was clean and updated in a great location next to a Starbucks! When we checked in I was starting to feel sick and had young children with me, dreading the night ahead in one room. I went to the front desk to see if they could do anything and Edison and Tracy were sooooo lovely! They were able to refund my room and send me on my way (which was only about 2 hours away). I will 100% return to the hotel in a couple of months and am so so gracious for their top notch hospitality! read more

Had I known that this hotel makes you sign a waiver on checkin that limits your lobby use after 10pm I wouldn't have booked. Here for a relaxing weekend with family that we haven't seen in years and you close down the public lobby at 10pm like this is some sort of kindergarten. They've also closed the outside seating area as well, so that's not an option. It's a shame that you must have had guests to rowdy to cause this rule, but as a paying guest I want to be able to enjoy the lobby area on my terms. Don't stay here, staff is rude. We stayed here during our last day of hanging out at Kalahari and it was convenient and cut an hour off of our drive home the next morning. Tami at the front desk was great and was very welcoming to my family the other family who arrived with us. We were able to order dinner at Damon's directly in front of the hotel and we ate it in the lobby of the hotel with our children. This location is a great hotel if you want the same marriott quality but a cheaper brand hotel than what you will find in the Poconos. read more

The rooms are extremely clean and decorated tastefully and I LOVE that they provide you with a good blow dryer and not a cheap one. They provide free coffee and water 24/7 and the staff is extremely helpful and polite!! I've stayed here many, many times and I'm never disappointed. read more

We were on an overnight trip in the Poconos area and decided to book this location. Its located right next to the Damon's sport bar. You get 10% off if you show them your room key. The room we got is pretty much standard, two Queen beds that was clean and made. They had some cookies and ice water in the lobby for guests to enjoy. The hotel also serves breakfast items including eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, yogurt, and fruit. The bonus is they have an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, and sauna. The sauna is rare to find in hotels period maybe just the upscale ones. The pool was at a good temperature in my opinion. The staff was friendly and accommodating as well. Overall, our family enjoyed the amenities while staying there and had no issues with our overnight sleep at all. Would stay here again I if I'm in the area. read more

Just a quick update about this Hotel. Was there back in 2016 and of course it was great. I just returned (Jan-2019) and it was even better. They have upgraded and modernized the hotel really nice even though they took out the hot Spa it was still a very pleasant stay. According to one of the workers there- that told me they had no choice about the Spa according the PA law is was required, they needed some space in the pool area to be bigger. The rooms, lobby, bed and breakfast area was super clean. They staff was very friendly, particularly, Daniela at the front desk who took excellent care of me and my both kids. It was an ok stay. Checked in with my family 2 queen beds. The first room smelled bad so we asked to be moved. The 2nd room smelled like they had cleaned with febreeze I dislike the smell. We made due. Everything else was booked. It's 7 am and I've been up most of the night. The window cooling in the room was loud and room a little hot. Wallpaper is peeling in the room. Honestly not an awful room or stay just not good for our family. We definitely need a king bed next trip with 2 rooms. This would be ok for a business trip The staff was nice and accommodating. Value seems great. Newer building and rooms. Roommate somewhat smallish and clean and what you expect from a hotel like this. Somethings I didn't like. Shower backed up some water, paint cracking on ceiling, grout having cracked and it in the shower. These are little things but they take away from the stay at this hotel. As a Gold Marriott member one of the worst things about this place is the staff - mainly front desk staff. They don't treat their members well and that means they most likely don't treat regular guests any better. The young man at the front desk when I was there was a punk who didn't want to hear a word I had to say about anything. The hotel itself wasn't up to the normal Marriott standards and besides the mold in the tub area - I wasn't going to walk barefoot in my room either. I wasn't comfortable with the level of "clean" or the level of customer satisfaction in any area! It was my first stay at this place and my last. There is a brand new Marriott Courtyard not far away and at LEAST it's new and clean. Not again - no matter how close it is to work! Stayed here on a visit to my Grandmother's with my mother and sister. I don't do a ton of travel with my family so I was a bit apprehensive in general. However, in spite of my apprehension, this really was a lovely property. I've stayed at many Marriott's for work all over the east coast, and this one felt a lot like many of the other's I've been in. There's something very comforting about coming into a hotel and knowing the rooms will arranged well and there will always be complimentary breakfast. The staff at this particular marriott were very friendly and helpful with anything we needed and as a result we have a very lovely stay (if only for one night). This property does have a gym and an indoor pool, but alas we didn't bring our suits- maybe next time. There is a Damon's in the parking lot (convenient for dinner or drinks) which has a neon sign that was our view from our room, but once we pulled the darkening drapes it was like it wasn't even there- and that was great. This was a last minute booking and I was pleasantly surprised with this location. As previous posters have stated, the hotel is a little older but seems very well maintained. It is within walking distance of Damon's, which is very convenient. The breakfast was very nice and had plenty to offer. The front desk was also very friendly. I was upgraded to a king suite which was extremely nice and very spacious. I wish I had not been on such a quick trip and could have enjoyed it! My only complaint is that I never could get wifi to work; however, I did not seek assistance from the front desk, which may have solved the issue. I will definitely be staying here again! read more

I am pretty high maintenance when it comes to hotels. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the room. I had a suite, but did not need the living room...just staying over night. But, i would consider a suite for a longer stay. I also was so happy to see a SPEAKMAN shower head (I have one at home). Seriously, the best shower I have had in ANY hotel....EVER! Seriously! Arrived on 10/10/2014 for a one-night stay with my wife. The front desk girl was excellent! I had actually forgotten the paperwork needed for a discounted stay; however, the clerk was able to push through another discount that I was eligible for (that was even cheaper!), & she did it in an extremely friendly & professional manner. The standard king room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless. My only two concerns: no refrigerator in the room, & the water pressure from the shower head was crazy powerful! Usually the pressure is lacking, but not this one! Not a REAL big deal, but it's something that should be looked at by management. For these two reasons, I took off one star. The women that run the kitchen were wonderful! They made a point to go around to all of us & ask if we would care for anything else, despite the fact that it was already past the ten o'clock closing time. Even over an hour later, they asked some stragglers who showed up late for breakfast if they'd like any eggs, sausage, etc. I love good customer service, & this place shines in that regard! Four stars!! At times when you travel (we travel frequently) there can be small glitches or big ones, in your hotel stay. This is life, this just happens! Overall the hotel was ,very nice as usual, great in every way. However, the Water Main break was a definite glitch. Since it not only affected the hotel, but they did everything within their power to make it right...that's a four star rating! I was passing through Hazleton and stopped here because of the price. It's an older hotel, but the price was excellent (for a Marriott property). Pros: -It is in good overall shape -Very friendly and positive staff -It is located far enough off of the highway that you don't hear 'highway noise' -A very funny lady was taking care of the breakfast area while I was there -WiFi was decent - 0.2 to 0.3Mb/s Cons: -This is an older Fairfield Inn. read more

Nice hotel. Front desk staff was very helpful and accommodating. Room and bed were great. Continental breakfast had a lot of choices and was delicious. Don't know if they have upgraded since the other reviews, but I didn't think the hotel seemed rundown or old. This was my first time staying here. I actually switched plans from being at another hotel for this one. The hotel was the best price for the area that offered the most. I was looking for a hotel with a pool,jacuzzi & offered hot breakfast. Everything looked exactly like the pictures. Our room was the king bed suite. Wish the room had a fridge though. Kinda bummed it didn't. The woman who ran the kitchen and made the breakfast daily is absolutely AMAZING!! She must have children because she's very motherly and accommodating. Overall a good experience. Few problems- no one watching the pool area. A few unattended kids playing with beach balls and jumping into the pool. Under 14 yr old kids in the jacuzzi while your trying to relax. Not good!! Also, our room toliet kept overflowing and no one available to fix it during the night. When I told the woman attendant at the front desk in the morning, she was very unpleasant and kinda made me feel embarrassed. Nothing was done to accommodate for myself having to act as a Plummer in the middle of the night. Possibly the worst customer service I've dealt with. I'd probably go back but hopefully won't have the same woman at the front desk. read more

I stay at the Fairfield Marriott at least once per month. When I first started staying at the hotel last year the front desk staff was super friendly and helpful.both on the phone and in person. I know one of the wonderful young ladies is no longer working at the hotel, and they seem to have new staff that lack customer service. The last time I stayed at the hotel I stayed in a Junior Suite and asked if they had a heavier blanket than one on the pull out couch. The gentleman at the front desk obliged. On my most recent visit the woman was curt and said the thin yellow blanket was all they had. For the second time in a row, most of the bedding for the pull out sofa was not in the plastic bag. The front desk personnel did not even bother to offer to give me an extra blanket. For the amount of money Im paying for a Junior Suite. she did not try to go the extra mile. Been coming to this hotel for years but seems to get worst. Now they won't upgrade you if your using the senior rate even if a Gold or Platium member. The clerk said it was because they didn't have any upgrades available but the parking lot was empty at 8PM. One of the other employees told me that management wants to hold these rooms for higher paying customers. Had this happen at the Marriott in Saddle Brook, NJ and Marriott at LAX. The room I stayed in had mold around the tub, noisey toliet and heater (I had to shut this off at night) and the table in the room was ready to fall over due to loose legs. Will try the Hampton Inn or Comfort Inn down the street next time. read more

The only reason this disgusting hotel is getting. 2 stars is due to he comfortable bed. At $200 a night, this hotel is a rip off. Firstly, the bathrooms....there are no fans in the bathrooms so the wallpaper is peeling inside and outside of the bathrooms. There is mold in the shower and on the bathroom walls. The tub is stained and looks like it has never been cleaned. Our tub also didn't drain properly so you had to stand in an inch of water while showering. The water also was gross. Waaaay too much chlorine in the water here. Secondly, the smells... upon entering our room the smell caused an immediate feeling of disgust. It was a mixture of septic and a chemical, stale smell. By the time we returned for the night, a few hours after arriving at the hotel, the entire hotel smelled of feces. Something was definitely off with their sewer or septic system. It was gut wrenching. We couldn't even open a window! Don't stay here... stay at the Hampton inn instead. read more
