Curtains falling off the tracks, all windows
Natalie S.

We stay at Marriott's all over the country--this is by far one of the worst. I'm not sure what happened. Stayed here a year ago and it was fantastic. A year later, the rooms are filthy, this room has been beat up, everything is broken. Phone barely works. No alarm clock. Don't bother with the hang tag asking for privacy they don't service the rooms during your stay. So if you needed towels after a long day they make you walk all the way back down to the front desk. If your room is on the end of the building and on the 4th floor it's quite a hike. AND the audacity leaving cards in several locations in the room asking for a tip for servicing the room. AND the shower is backing up. See photos. I will never stay here again. The amount they are charging for this dump is obscene. I want my money back!

They claim to be the newest Marriott property in Rapid City area. I found the hotel to be very dirty. First, when I checked in, they offered me every other day room servicing. I accepted. Even after asking to have my room serviced, in my eight days of staying at the property, they never serviced the room. I did go to the front desk to refresh my towels, myself. On the seventh day, I received a note saying they would not service the rooms, but they did offer to bring me more coffee. When arriving at my room, I was met with a dirty face to the refrigerator, dishwasher, and cabinets in the kitchenette. There was a bread bag clip left from a previous resident on top of the refrigerator. When showering, the soapscum on the shower shelf was so thick that it created suds on the shelf. There was a bar of soap left from a previous resident. The pen at the desk had the Pulled off, and the cap was laying on another cabinet. The dust on the windowsill was so thick that I could see it in the morning with the sunshined. That all being said, I did enjoy the free use of the hot tub in the water park that is attached to the hotel. Overall, on the other side of the water park is a Fairfield property owned by the same people, but that was much cleaner and better cared for. I would suggest looking for that property.

Dirty garbage cans

We have previously stayed here for the Sturgis rally and have always encouraged friends to join us. Our most recent trip was the last time. We asked to extend by one day and we're charged double for one more day even though we booked 8 months in advance. We know it's special event time. That is why we booked in advance. Our room was filthy. There was a queen sized sheet on a king sized bed. We had to ask for correct sheets and make our bed. The room was filthy. Smelled like animal pee. It was a suite with a kitchen but had no pots and pans. There were bags of garbage left in hallways by other guests for days smelling up the place. Breakfast items and coffee was emtpy if you weren't there the first hour. We asked to speak to someone twice, I emailed once. We have gotten no response so here we are searching for a new place to stay with our group for the rally next year.

I reserved this room through Hotels.com. Hotel was easy to find. Close to stores and restaurants. Check-in was super smooth. Instead of just explaining breakfast and wifi and restaurants etc they gave me a paper explaining it all so I could refer to it later. Much appreciated! Room was the studio with a full kitchen, king and pull out sofa bed. Room was very clean and as explained and pictured. King bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Daughter said sofa bed was a 6/10. Meh. Full kitchen with DW, microwave, fridge/freezer, plates, pans, utensils, etc. Room had usb outlets in living area. Outlets by the king bed. Hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash. Plenty of towels. Hotel has covered walking hallways that lead to water park and bar/grill attached. There's a small shop in the front lobby. Breakfast included each morning. 6:30/7am-9/9:30am depending on the day of the week. No major issues. Would recommend.

We loved the hotel and our comfortable spacious room. You don't have to wear a mask inside but they request all guests wear a mask while out in public areas. If I were to go back to the area I would actually stay in the old part of the city where everything is walkable distance and you don't have to jump in your car to do things.

How to feel disrespected at the Residence Inn in Rapid City, South Dakota. Their Idea of a fresh healthy breakfast is frosted flakes and naff fruit. Nothing healthy, even though they sold the room on fresh breakfast concept. I asked if they had food for adults, and their reply was "covid". It's a horrible excuse. No options were available but children's sugar cereal? Yogurt? Special K? Peanut butter with bagel? Fruit cups? Deal with local restaurant? Please think! This was just a rude experience

Kitchenette Room 405

30 Minute Drive from Mount Rushmore. Newer hotel located in a comex of multiple other hotels. Lobby is beautiful and spacious with a fireplace and comfortable seating. Room is large and well furnished with Kitchenette. Bed is fairly comfortable and the flat-screen TV is good sized. If you are planning a family vacation and intend on using the waterpark, please be aware that this space is SHARED by several hotels . Both times I went through on our 2 day Stay, the water park was packed- and we visited in March. I imagine it's much busier in Summer. A hot Breakfast is included in stay and is above average, with a lot of hot items to choose from (Breakfast sandwiches, waffles, sausage, cereal, etc). Customer Service seemed Inferior to a typical Marriott property. Staff were friendly, however. The only employee who stood out was Judith, the breakfast attendant. Parking lot is well lit, and property feels safe. Overall, a very good stay

My husband and I stayed here during our recent visit to Rapid City and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was quite spacious and very well laid out. I loved the little kitchen and living area. We made great use of the couch and the high table and chair set where we had our daily "tea". The bed was comfy and everything appeared to be clean and fresh. We also visited the bar next to the indoor water park. Our bartenders were awesome and we really appreciated the great care they took of us. Breakfast was great and it was nice to be able to grab a complimentary cup of coffee, cocoa, or tea any time of day. The staff at the desk were all awesome and gave us much valuable information as to what there was to do in the area. We really enjoyed our stay and if we ever find ourselves in the area again we would not hesitate to stay here.

We stayed here for 11 nights when we PCS'd in. Due to our family size, on base lodging at Ellsworth was unavailable. Anyway, we absolutely love Marriott and Residence Inns. First, the rooms are extremely clean. We had a one bedroom suite. Plenty of room for our three kiddos. We didn't do any cooking in the room, but there are two stovetop burners that you could use, a microwave, and a large refrigerator (not a mini), not to mention all the cabinet space. They offer actual brewed coffee with a coffee pot, not a single serve edition like most. Second, the breakfast was amazing EVERY SINGLE DAY. Hot scrambled eggs to include spinach, salsa and cheese with tortillas to make breakfast burritos, with at least 1-2 meats such as bacon, sausage (both turkey and pork) not to mention bagels, boiled eggs, fruit, juice, as well as yogurt. Fresh coffee tops it off and makes it wonderful. Third, a water park is conventiantly connected to the hotels here. You don't have to walk outside.. you just walk continuously through a hallway to the water park. My advice, if you are staying here, get the tickets from the front desk. I won't review the water park here, but it was awesome to be physically connected so I didn't have to walk through the cold to get to it. Finally, every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, they have evening social "snacks" sometimes dinner worthy.. this is usually from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Check the sign right outside checkin. They come with alcoholic drinks with beer and wine. The menu changes week to week, but we had a nice quinoa salad with grilled chicken one night and chili with all the fixings the other night. The staff our super friendly, a highlight for this hotel. They went out of their way to be kind and entertain our three young kiddos and made us feel super welcome. Highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the Rapid City area, or a military member who needs to be close to Ellsworth AFB.

Nice setting with spacious kitchen and Living room. Free breakfast. Perfect for families.

This was an AMAZING hotel to stay at!! Water park is great and we had forgotten our camera battery and charger in our room on our 4th day of a 14 day vacation with our granddaughters. We called and first lady's response was we'll try to find it. Had to backtrack to this hotel and actually went in there to see if they found it. Same lady could have cared less but Jarred, other person at front desk went Over and above his helpfulness to locate the camera battery!!!' THANKS JARRED!!' You're helpfulness and kindness was SO APPRECIATED!!!' Five star hotels are made up of employees like YOU!!!'

Brand new, quiet hotel close to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. We would stay here again if we were in the area.

Beautiful hotel, nice friendly workers, had a great stay but I got lice. Stay away from room 436. That pull out couch seemed sketchy.

The reviews on Hotels.com was fine but the reviews on Yelp are gawd awful. Here is the facts, this is not a new property but the beds are fine, there is ducttape holding on in the elevator and cigarette butts all over outside, there is a piece of 2x4 holding up the little shelf in the bathroom but weak water pressure, the pool is icecold and the paint is peeling in the hottub, the breakfast is awful, we asked for the room to be cleaned but "they forgot", again we slept fine and Angel was awesome.. Let's summarize the whole thing, at this price point this is a travesty, plenty of places to stay, not good enough.

The bed was comfortable, and the room included basic amenities: TV, microwave, mini-fridge, iron and ironing board, and a hair dryer. That said, the place feels a bit tired. The interiors seem dated--as if they haven't been refreshed since the hotel opened. With the high turnover most hotels see annually, this kind of wear-and-tear should be expected and budgeted for. Upgrades could easily justify slightly higher rates. The shower head was noticeably scaled with lime or calcium buildup--something housekeeping should be addressing regularly. Breakfast was hot and offered a decent variety. However, we stayed for two mornings, and the same staff member was working both days wearing the same visibly stained and dirty shirt. It didn't inspire much confidence in the hotel's overall hygiene standards.

Some staff were friendly and great. Others found talking trash about people. After I requested compensation for having to repack up my cats after my long drive to move my room, The manager did give me extra points for having to move my room. I will never stay there again.

The other filters were clogged as well. I then looked at the pool one and it was dirty also. DISGUSTING!!!!. Come morning, the curtains don't keep out light. Then at 7 am I get a text from Baymont asking how I liked my stay. The most positive thing was the young man working in the Breakfast area. He was the nicest person ever. He was constantly cleaning tables and removing people's dirty dishes. He made sure ALL of the items were stocked. I gave him a tip for his hard work. Also, ice machine did NOT work.

This hotel seems great for long stays at a budget price. No complimentary breakfast but that wasn't an issue for us. The ice maker also didn't work. The manager was only willing to give us $45 toward an over $100 hotel. I would not recommend staying here again and if you do have the person on staff that night go walk through the room with you to make sure everything is in working order before you pay because if not you will be stuck with a hotel cost and no help from the manager. Very very disapointed in the level or lack there of service provided....worst part is a family member recommended this place....to add to this the manager did recieve a video of the toilet, plus we were told by the gal on shift that there was issues with this room's toilet and was told it had been fixed and to rent the room. Clearly not the case unfortunetially.

The morning breakfast was a really nice surprise! Fiancée is celiac, and the fact they have gluten free items is awesome! Coffee, juices, eggs, potatoes, Canadian bacon or ham (I don't eat either and can't tell the difference lol). The reason for the star deduction are the rooms. A few things: We booked a king room. Unfortunately when we arrived and entered, it reeked of smoke! Really badly, eye burning. Apparently there was a prior guest in there who wasn't supposed to be rented to? I believe the hotel is 100% smoke-free. The person at the desk that night did apologize and move us to another room. Unfortunately, it had 2 queen beds rather than 1 king bed. We're here as a couple for a Valentine's Day getaway, so that does disappoint as it isn't what we paid for. No discount on the room offered or anything for the trouble. Additionally, it doesn't look like they offer in-room safes. I've stayed at motel 6's and super 8's that offer those! Not a reassuring feeling, and now we'll be gone all day worrying about valuables left in the room. Or we'll bring them in the car and hope they aren't stolen out of there. Finally, the in-room refrigerator doesn't have a freezer section. Sucks when you bring ice packs because you plan on packing a lunch to save money in these expensive times. Can't freeze those and can't bring a lunch on our day to the badlands. The refrigerator isn't very cold either. Maybe 50-55 degrees F. Do NOT store food in there, it won't keep. So much for keeping any leftovers if we eat dinner out. A couple small nitpicks like a hair in the shower stall, hey it happens. We're here a couple of more days. Maybe it'll get better. The parking, quiet room, and the breakfast are all big pros. On the other hand, it has been disappointing in a few key areas.
