Renter BEWARE! While this company has done a lot of work to rehab their buildings and have made plenty of physical improvements, that's where the improvements end. Generally speaking their policies and management staff are not customer service oriented AT ALL. I'll give you a few examples:
1. Live alone and want an extra key for a cleaning service, house guest, dog walker etc.? Be prepared to pay $25 for the key and $50 for the "application". Yes folks there's an application on which you must list the recipient of the key as a resident. The application requires you provide the "residents" name, date of birth and SSN. Explain to your housekeeper why you want their SSN......go ahead.
2. They've installed fancy touch screen call boxes in the lobby which look great but are frequently out of service. Yes that means you need to walk down and actually let guests in from time to time....big deal right? Wrong. Recently the box at my residence has been out of service for two weeks. I place a service ticket online and got no response until I placed a second service request. Only after the second request did I receive a one sentence email from the building manager saying the box was out of service and they called the manufacturer. OK....DUH I know it's out of service. How about 1. apologizing and 2. giving me a estimated time to expect the repair.
3. Live in one of their old units and want to move to a rehabbed one? Great....expect to pay MUCH MORE (this makes sense) but do not expect to get the same deal a new renter off the street would get, which is some sort of break on the first month's rent. Oh and by the way, you will have to complete a new application and pay the application fee. No I'm serious. UNLESS of course you want to move to one of their other properties.....then you get a first month's rent deal.
So the moral of the story is this.....a one bedroom is probably going to cost you arounf $15,000 a year with this company....the the property is worth it. However, the service is deplorable. Take my word....pay the same amount and live somewhere where the staff are actually nice, service oriented and the policies are tenant friendly. read more
