I just didn't have the time to sit down and plan out each shot (like we would have liked to do). We trusted Ambre to take perfect photographs and that is exactly what she did. Beyond the photographs -- Ambre was very professional and pleasant to work with. She was on time to each meeting and she came armed with inventive ideas -- which is to say she came with an idea of how to make our special day memorable though her photography. Her work is more than photography -- it is art. Her prices were very reasonable -- in fact, she probably is not charging nearly enough for the quality of work she is doing. We made sure to leave a very large budget for photographs because we wanted quality -- but as it turns out we didn't need it. Ambre was well within our range and on top of that spectacular. Her website says it all. We looked at some very expensive photographers who took photos that, while pretty didn't seem to capture personality -- Ambre has a touch that seems to like you know what the person in the photograph is like -- who they are. OH EM GEE!  Why are there not more reviews for Snap Dragons Photography?!  Well, here goes…read more For background, I didn't do newborn photos when I had my son in the spring of 2021, as I was a first time mom and freaking out about the pandemic.  We didn't have any hospital photos either.  I recall hospitals having photographers who snap that first newborn photo.  It must either be a pandemic thing, or maybe they've gotten with the times.  "What are the times?," you ask?  The times are YOU GET NEWBORN PHOTOS DONE.  I wish I knew about Snap Dragons back then; I would have hired Parrisa in a heartbeat even with the Panny-D.  I'll get to my actual review, but she was masked and so safe during our shoot!  What I'm trying to tell you with all this background information is that I 100% regret not doing newborn photos, so don't make the same mistake I did.  Do newborn photos.  Call Snap Dragons NOW. Now that I'm done with the background, on to the photoshoot I actually had with Snap Dragons.  You can understand with my regret of not having newborn photos, I was ready to do something and capture some memories of my firstborn.  The trend for one year birthdays is to do a Cake Smash photoshoot.  I didn't know this until recently.  I mean, I'm not that cool but am becoming cool, right?  A part of me wanted some "normal" cute pictures of my son in addition to the fun cake smash photos.  I started searching local photographers online.  A TON of photographers popped up.  You have a lot of choices, but not all choices are the right choices.   Many of the photographers have a whole set up.  They have these crazy, over the top, overdone sets.  Then you choose one, or if you want something new, you guys can design it together.  I would say that Snap Dragons was super flexible and worked with me on what I thought was my vision and also continued to work with me on what we ended up with.  They help put something together that you are comfortable with.  Some of the other photographers I found just had sets that were over the top- almost gaudy? Almost tacky?  Definitely detracts from the SUBJECT of the photoshoot, your child!  I mean, that's totally cool, if that is your thing.  I wanted something cool and cute, but I didn't want my child to be Waldo (like Where's Waldo) and lost in a messy and busy set.   So far, I've covered Safety (yes, Covid still exists, and little ones under five still have yet to be vaccinated) and Aesthetics.   Communication was excellent.  Parrisa even texted with me to coordinate, and that made things really easy.  I love when people know how to keep it simple and stay in good communication.  I had a question or two about the contract, and Parrisa was very good about patiently explaining to me and working with me. The day of the shoot, I felt prepared and safe.  Things went REALLY QUICKLY, but that's life with a one year old.  I left a bit in a daze.  Well, I have a super active child, and I kept having to reposition him.  It was a workout for sure.  I wasn't sure if Parrisa was able to get any good shots, because my son was perpetually in motion.   When I got my proofs from Snap Dragons, it was CLEARLY EVIDENT that Parrisa is an amazing photographer.  Trust me.  The photos were great.  The product/deliverable did not disappoint.   Safety, Aesthetics, Communication, and Final Product were all great.   The last thing I will say is that Snap Dragons is a small female owned business.  I bring that up last, because that is such a bonus and nice to know, after you know you are getting such amazing photos. You are paying for her experience, labor, etc., but what you are getting are memories.  You will only have regrets if you 1. don't do a photoshoot (see my background) or if you 2. don't hire Snap Dragons.  No regrets, ok?

There is an art to newborn photography that amatures just can't get a handle on quickly. Between the crying, fidgeting, and awkward angles, it was a challenge. 20 minutes into my DIY shoot, I knew I had to call a professional. When we got ahold of Parissa, she was accommodating to our schedule and quickly made it out to our house to do an in home shoot (which in its self is amazing). Parissa must be one of the most patient people. She could call down Rae when she was restless, wide awake, or crying. Sometimes, I thought no way she could get her into a pose, and I was wrong every time. The photos came out beyond our expectations. These are once in a life time moments to capture, so do not hesitate to get them. I couldn't recommend Snap Dragon Photography more.

She is very sweet, and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a stress free maternity session! I found Melanie through IG. I actually was looking through a few photographer IG accounts but my eye just kept coming back to her profile. Her light and airy photo style looked so beautiful! Another thing I kept in mind was looking for a photographer that also offers family photo sessions in the future. Scheduling: Scheduling and reaching out to Melanie, from the first contact was a great and smooth experience. She replies in a timely manner and gets to know you to ensure you both are a good fit. Once you set a date, you will get more information around her clients closet (which I was EXTREMELY happy she offers) and a list of possible locations to choose from. She also listens to your ideas and may have other additional ideas of her own closer to the date. She also can give recommendations for hair and makeup on request. Price: Pricewise, when I was looking at pricing for photographers and styles, maternity sessions tend to be on the pricier end, while her pricing was not as steep as the others I looked at. Her prices are very worth her expertise, time, and experience. I have had some not so great experiences, and my experience with Melanie was just so smooth and caused me no stress at all (important to me while being pregnant). Photo Style: She focuses on locations with nature and flowers. Honestly, because it was a very hot summer, I thought we would not have any pictures with flowers. Our original pick of location had no flowers, but she reached out and mentioned a new location a few days before the shoot. We decided to trust the change and switch to the new location. She will also ask about your insecurities (in case there are poses you really don't want to do), any poses you would like to incorporate, etc. She is very thorough and follows up with you throughout the process. As someone who asks a lot of questions, this made me very happy lol. Actual session: I wanted to incorporate some cultural pieces but was not sure if it would work with the dresses I picked from her clients closet. Thankfully, when trying the dresses on at the site, 1 was PERFECT for my bolero! During the session, it was so cool to see her thought process since she can look at an area and see the different photos we can do there. There were flowers! So happy about that! She made sure to ask me questions along the way, be aware of the poses I don't like, and the requests I had during the initial communication with her. This interaction showed me how organized she is, and she focuses on you and your session to be perfect. We ended up taking photos with 2 different dresses and a "3rd" with the same 2nd dress but with my cultural piece over it. It was perfect. There was also a more personal portion where she asked my husband to tell me why I would make a good mom. I ended up crying and the photos ended up to be part of my favorites from the shoot! Of course I don't think the intention was to make me cry haha I just was very emotional. We ended with the cultural outfit portion of the shoot and even though we had no idea how to pose, she helped us each step of the way. None of the poses felt awkward or forced, and we were able to just be ourselves and the photos reflect that. I loved the session so much that I initially wanted the middle package and ended up deciding on the highest tier package because, how can I just choose a set amount of images after that session! I want it all haha. I am so thankful for her as she made the session fun, comfortable, and memorable for us.
