My poor mom had an awful experience here and doesn't know how to post so I'm doing it on her behalf. She feels they tried to take advantage of her. First she called ahead to make sure they had what she needed, then she drove 45 minutes to get there only to be told they don't have what she needs, she can't use Yakima anymore (a lie) and she needed a new Thule rack system for around $1000. They offered to buy her very good condition Yakima j hooks (set of 4 no less) for $25. After doing some investigating we're going to Rack Attack or REI. I'm so mad at them for trying to dupe my mom. This place is great! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and will set you up with a rack and accessories to fit your budget. I went in expecting to have to spend $600 - $700 for a rack and a cargo box but only spent a little over $400 for everything, all quality used items. I've been to ReRack several times, over several years, and they've always exceeded expectations. Most recently, I took a bunch of used Yakima gear to trade for a new roof box. First thing they told me was, "sell your old Thule on CL; you'll get 2x as much as we'll give you". Then they tallied up the other stuff, told me exactly what they were giving me for each piece (and percentage of retail value), and then sold me a nice shiny new roof box for the difference, and installed it for me, no charge. I was out of there in 25 min. And they always give away something for free--key chains, straps, extra keys. This is how local business is meant to be. Came in and bought a Yakima cargo box for $499. That price was way cheaper than anywhere we researched online. It was a super easy transaction, no pressure to buy and the staff was very nice & helpful. Then got home and wanted to read more about the cargo box and low and behold REI was having a sale! The exact cargo box was $100 cheaper. The next day, I called ReRack and told them what happen. Went back in and they credited us $99 on our credit card. So basically, we bought a brand spanking new cargo box for $399!! That's a steal! And we spent our money locally! I'd totally recommend them to friends & family. read more

After trading in one car for another, I had two problems: needed to unload an old bike rack, and needed a rack for the new car. ReRack took care of them both very quickly and professionally, and I ended up paying half what I would've paid at [Retail Enterprise Inthemall]. After offering me a good deal on my old rack, the staff were very patient with me and took the time to explain all my options for new and used bike racks, and each of their pros and cons including price differences. When I'd decided on a rack setup, I left them my keys, took a walk around Laurelhurst, got a cup of coffee and when I returned it was fully installed at no extra charge. Went in to get a cylinder to key the bike rack the same as the roof, and they just swapped me cylinders no charge. Think twice about purchasing from this company. The bike rack did not fit my roof rack and Rerack didn't care. They only cared about making the one sale and not a loyal customer. Rerack requires you to pay the full shipping cost plus a 20% restocking fee. They apparently think its still 1995. The return shipping was going to be $53 and total loss for me would have been $82 on a purchase of just $142. I decided to just resell the item on my own. I highly recommend you DO NOT buy from this company. I tried to work a compromise but they were unwilling to budge. Customer service dos not exist with Rerack. I purchased 2 of the same racks from moparonlineparts.com and they were $100 cheaper for the same bike racks except theses actually fit my roof rack and their customer service was amazing. I had an amazing shopping experience here. I walked in knowing I needed a ski rack for my Subaru, but had no prior experience with racks. Chester helped me pick out the perfect ski rack at the best possible price. He was extremely nice and knowledgeable and even mounted my new rack for me. He showed me what to look for in a decent rack. He even showed me how to remove and mount my rack should I need to in the future, though he said I could also just bring my car back in and they'd remove/mount the rack for me. I called these guys about a week before coming in to see if they had anything that would work with my Lexus SUV with a Panoramic roof. They took the time to look through their vendors then gave me the one that would work. They even gave me the part numbers to review. Once I came in, they verified everything was correct, opened all the boxes and showed me the parts and options, then preceded to install the base rack for me. These people are amazing. They know their stuff and don't try to oversell you! I was thoroughly impressed with their knowledge and would highly recommend them to anyone needing a rack for their car. I knew very little about bike racks before I came in to the store. The salesman was very patient, showed me how to install the trunk mounted bike rack, answered all of my questions and told me how to put my bikes on the rack (I did not bring them with me, so he couldn't show me.) he did tell me that if I had any problems putting the bikes on, he would be happy to offer any help he could! I do not do reviews often but feel compelled to do this one. After calling, the person on the phone said I needed to go to a store to find a used rack, seemed reasonable. Went to a store. I am an older (meaning old) dude without much money and told the person in the store I was shopping for something used as there was not a big budget. The sales person looked at my car and proceeded to explain why the only "safe" solution for me was a new model rack for $450. I did not ask what they would have sold me last year, that they might have used today :-). I called a company down the street from them then (Rack Attack). That person asked some questions, put me on hold for 10 minutes and then returned to explain they could marry a couple of new parts to a used rack and get me on the road for $280. I didn't know where to start in choosing the right kayak racks for my Subaru Crosstrek. I recently was shopping around for a rack for my Mazda for a camping trip. I first went to Rack Attack. I was treated as if I forgot my wallet that day. The service was horrible and I left empty handed. I went to ReRack. I was at ReRack for no more than 15 minutes and Chet found the correct racks for my car, installed them (free by the way) and explained everything I needed to know. now that is service. I went back a week later to rent a rood box for my trip. I was there again for no more than 10 minutes and had the box installed and on my way. Ok, I try to give places the benefit of the doubt, and I was excited to check out ReRack with my dad. But we left feeling pretty disappointed, and were so frustrated that we decided to leave before even being offered help. The beginning of our frustrations arose from the mere fact that we were there on a Saturday - mid day - and there were three to four other patrons who entered after us. Then we proceeded to stand around for 15 minutes. With four other people waiting around and only one number ahead of ours, we were sure it wouldn't be a long wait. ... We waited, and waited. Meanwhile, numerous employees shuffled around the store - seemingly working, but none offering to help. All of the business was being handled by one employee. We knew what we needed: a yakima lock core and a top rack. We could see the one that we needed, and wanted to try to see if they had any used or warranty-less racks that may have been cheaper. ... 15 minutes later, we were still waiting around. No one had shown any interest in us, so we departed. It wasn't that we didn't try to talk to someone; it was that we didn't feel like anyone was interested in helping us and despite waiting with a number and having our questions ready we decided "screw it this is a waste of our time, we know what we need. Let's take our business elsewhere." Not something i like to do especially when a local business is concerned. Hopefully we just caught them on an off day. read more

I can't believe they didn't charge me to breathe their oxygen... I bought a complete rack set for 300$ (a decent price). Then I was told they mount for free but that they encourage tipping or beer. So I paid them 300$ for a used rack (towers, mounts, clips, bars) then bought them beer to install (which I was told takes an hour). It only took them 10 minutes then I noticed the key locks were missing. Surprise surprise, key locks are an additional 30$. I already owned a snowboard carrier and they refused to mount it on the racks- even though they said it was easy- without charging me AGAIN! I tipped when I initially bought, I bought them beer to install later, and still they wanted more to complete the job. They have the right products-which they should- but tipping at a retail products store? Theres a line for tipping when you use your card as if you're at a bar. Not to mention they break down a product and sell it separately. All said and done, I should have gone new for another 100$ and saved myself the trouble of doing business with panhandling drunks. read more

Everyone there seems to be a rack geek, and they have a pretty good selection of all the major brand name racks. They may not have everything in stock, but if you can get a majority of your parts at ReRack and buy the rest at another spot, you will save some cash. They will install your rack for free which is nice. RackAttack charges $40 or so for installs. read more
