"The Letting garbage pile up in front of our homes is not my idea of responsible environmental stewardship.
I contacted the Chief Operating Officer in Ontario, Greg Yorston (1-905-326-0101) who says h has not heard from any consumers. Tis is your call to action, people. He said that he is directly responsible for overseeing the Colorado Springs operation and "thanks for the feedback." The only words which got HQ's attention were: CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. It only took 8 consecutive long distance international calls to the HQ in Canada before they stopped transferring my call back to to their endless pre-recorded menu and finally connected me with Mr. Yorston. I've also contacted the Colorado Attorney General's office (Phiillip J. Weiser: 720-508-6000) and will be filing a formal complaint the moment the forms hit my mailbox. Federal Trade Commission is my next stop (I suggest you all do the same, otherwise nothing happens). Since Mr. Yorston only managed the bare minimum of emailing a supervisor at the Sante Fe St. office in Colorado Springs after claiming he has no idea what's going on (even a year later), give him a call. Just mention class action. I also mentioned that GFL made the news and that the internet is teeming with complaints from furious consumers and employees, not to mention investors. Playing dumb didn't work for him, nor did the semantics game. We're looking at a scam, people. T, in my opinion, this is not a legitimate company. Just because they're traded on the stock market, doesn't mean they're legit.
In 2020 at the onset of the pandemic, service was nonexistent and so i assumed that drivers were becoming ill. It turns out that the issue was monopolization in progress/mergers had been completed. Drivers were working double shifts. It is now a year later and the issues persist. Anyone interested in supporting a class action or would like to offer information in support of an investigation, please contact me at 719-520-0546. You'll need to get past the call blocker by leaving your name before you can leave a message (in the event I am not available). I will return every call. I am this furious after having spoken directly to COO Yorston that I'm willing to publish my personal number. While he did email the local office after we ended the call to pick up MY garbage, that doesn't really help anyone else, does it? The impression his attitude gave me was that he has no intention of getting the Colorado Springs operation sorted out. The office manager did phone me as well, but the same excuses were given: Driver shortage. Give me a break. They are effectively running off employees who have worked for local waste companies for decades. I've offered more than once to bring the uncollected garbage to their office on Sante Fe St. and NO, we will not be paying them and doing DIY garbage delivery to a "transfer" station. KRDO interviewed a man last year who had the same Idea. ( I have just today seen the KRDO video). May I suggest everyone just nicely bag up their garbage and bring it to their office until they're buried in it? There is more than one way to skin a cat and there is no law against delivery our garbage to the garbage company. Or else we can demand to have this particular public service taken care of by the city instead.
Note: Bestway is no longer locally owned. It's now owned by GFL Environmental in Ontario, Canada. GFL also bought out Tri-Lakes and acquired assets from Waste Management. Meanwhile, Springs Waste was acquired by Waste Connection. Huge corporations began monopolizing waste management systems all over the country in 2018. The constant interruptions in service, their phones continually being deactivated when consumers attempt to contact them, and mistreatment of their employees (drivers, when asked, complain of total confusion in the office and with dispatch, terrible retention rates and double shifts) are absolutely intolerable at this point. Whenever i have managed to speak to a supervisor, the excuse is always the same: "people don't want to work hard." This is absurd. Most of these drivers have worked for local waste companies for decades, but are now leaving in droves. See Glass Door employee reviews. I also contacted KRDO to request that they follow up on their original story. Nothing has changed since last year when the story aired in August 2020.
Furthermore, our bills do not list a physical company address. It's a PO Box in Maryland. Several law firms began securities/investor fraud investigations, but it looks like the investors are now cashing in while the local people drown in our own filth as we no longer have local service. The mayor's office meanwhile said, "meh, private business." (I voted for him and expected at least that he might contact the Atty General's office. Nah. So, you can pay one of two massive national/international concerns for nothing. This is not free market competition, it's antitrust violation, not to mention consumer fraud. read more
