Republic Services begins dumpster pickup inside my apartment complex at 6 AM. Their excessive noise and obnoxious behavior, including slamming the gates closed & dumpsters on the ground, disrupt the peace and quiet of our RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY. They consistently miss trash pickup and refuse to collect bags that have overflowed. I witnessed one of their employees carelessly throw several bags and whip an open bag of trash across the street in our complex. I have used Republic Services in both residential and commercial settings. I cancelled residential service because the drivers would constantly miss pick ups and getting it fixed on the phone was always a 45-minute ordeal. On the commercial side they use deceptive and unethical business practices to increase profits and trap customers. You may agree to a year contract for dumpster service for a certain price. However, during the year the pricing will increase. Most people are busy and think it must just be an overage charge and pay the bill. Unfortunately, the fine print of the contract says that if you pay the bill you have agreed to the new amount. What is worse, you call to cancel, and they say sure no problem, but do not tell you that you have to send the cancellation to a specific email 60 days before the year end. If you do not cancel in a specific way the contract automatically continues for another year. If you try to cancel after it renews, they say you are responsible for a hefty contract cancellation fee. I live with an 83 year old woman who managed to hulk her giant trash bag over near her garbage cans while I was at work. When I came home, she was dragging a large TV box towards them. I let her know, they probably won't take it, but she said she wanted to try anyway. And if they didn't want to take it, they could just leave it. I figure, mmkay, no harm no foul, right? Well, when my husband came home that morning when these aholes were picking up the trash, they literally berated him and yelled at him for leaving that box there for them. Due to Thursday snow fall, service was to continue on Friday. Republic then decided to skip over all of its Thursdays customers and leave us to deal with full trash and recycle bins on our own. I called their customer service on Friday and I was told they "would make sure I would be services on Friday". What a lie. Now I have to wait two weeks for trash pickup and 4 weeks for recycling. This company is actually called GFL now. When they were Alpine they were reliable, but now that they are part of GFL they are the worst company ever. I've never dealt with a company this bad. We pay for 3 trash and 3 recycling pickups each week and we consider ourselves lucky if they come for half of those. They miss pickups EVERY WEEK. Our dumpsters are constantly overflowing and we have to call them several times a week to beg them to come empty them. It's absolutely ridiculous how unreliable they are. The worst part is that their drivers LIE about doing pickups so when we call we're told they already came by. Even when we send them photos proving otherwise, they still don't come back and empty the dumpsters that day. And because the company is desperate for drivers, none of them get in trouble for lying about picking up our trash. We've gone more than a week without either our trash or recycling being picked up and it's becoming a health hazard. The worst part is that it is near IMPOSSIBLE to get them to credit you for all the missed pickups. We have requested dozens of credits and received NONE. Not one! It's pretty ballsy for a company to expect their customers to pay full price for half the promised pickups. DO NOT use them for your trash pickups. You'll have to sign a 3-year contract and will be stuck with them. They give excuse after excuse and promise that things will get better, but they don't. We have been dealing with this for the past six months and it's still just as bad. We are in the process of switching and will never use GFL again. One of the worst trash companies out there. On a weekly basis we receive pathetic excuses as to why our trash has not been picked up. The drivers are not properly trained or instructed to do their job, and constant excuses by Anthony the dispatch manager who refuses to take responsibility for his companies short comings. Awful experience, save yourself time and headaches by going with another disposal company. Just got off the phone with customer rep (was in the telephone queue for 45 minutes) because they missed picking up my recycle for the second time. Tried to get information from rep as to why this is happening, and she doesn't know, just told me it's 'possible' that they didn't finish their route. Okay, so are they finishing it today I ask? No she says, hopefully by tomorrow, at the latest Thursday. Wow. I'm not joking, this is how they resolve their inexcusably bad service. No information as to why this keeps happening, and I have to leave my recycle bin on our street from Monday - Thursday. That's ridiculous. Not only is it an eyesore for the neighborhood to have your bins sitting out for so long, my recycle bin is full, and so now I can't add this weeks recycle to the bin until they pick it up so I'll have to use temporary garbage bags in my garage. I was so frustrated recently that I was ON HOLD forever to get a simple answer. Drivers are always very friendly and helpful. They suggested I drive right down to the office and bang on the door (they said it was kept locked). Somehow I got my answer and now they send me a past due notice for $67.50. Earlier this year I would gladly have reviewed this company with 5 stars but now I don't even want to give it a 1 star review. I signed up with Bestway after moving to Colorado Springs and a realtor recommended them. I rarely ever forgot to put out trash but if I did they would either find it accessible or they would knock on my door. Recently they were bought out by GFL. I live in an apartment complex that has a contract for both trash and recycling pick-up with Alpine/GFL. They come by so randomly that it is like having no service at all. Most times I drive my trash to the city facility. Having a week with a holiday results in a three-week gap in service. It's as if they forgot that our complex has an account. Maybe they treat their workers so poorly that they can't keep them. This company is now called GFL Environmental after GFL bought Bestway. Cannot contact this company by phone or using their support service requests on their website. They don't answer the phone. They don't respond to service requests submitted on their web site. A big 0 for customer service. Having an extremely difficult time this week canceling service after several years with them. They still show I owe them for service from July to the end of September even after several on-line support service requests asking to cancel. They won't answer any of my questions about never receiving a container from them. It is difficult to find out from them about their many service delays. They tried to cheat us. They missed a pick up. Told me to place garbage next to the dumpster and they would pick up twice, instructing me to refill it after the first pick up. Instead they picked up everything outside the dumpster and I had nothing for the next pickup. I had just moved in and the following week I had many bags of packing paper I set between the dumpster and my trailer and to my surprise they took it without me asking. I placed it there to fill after they dumped. A month later they told me their driver was not supposed to do that. Then they sent me a bill for $300. When I called they threatened me to send to collections so I told them to come get their dumpster. They told me if I canceled, they would raise the amount and send it to a collection agency. I canceled and they sent it. The collection company talked to me for 2 minutes and dropped the entire thing immediately. Do not let them extort you by threatening collections so they can get more fees. Go to twin enviro. Zero issues with them. They come, they pick up and no extra fees no calls nothing. They don't answer the phone until after business hours. If I leave a message, they don't call back. They have been investigated by the local news stations at least twice in the past six months for complaints similar to mine. This company runs a fraudulent business. They steal your money on the pretense they will provide a weekly waste removal service. They might provide this service for two or three weeks, but then they will quit stopping at your house. You will have to call their "customer service" line repeatedly in order to convince them to do the job for which you have already paid! IF they answer the phone. When I took the time to CANCEL their service, by driving to the facility, since they do not answer the phone, they not only did not give a me a refund, but continued to bill be for the next quarters service. I have spent no less than 2 1/2 hours of my day trying to get my $ back. I have been on hold for 1 1/2 hours going from one useless 800 number to the next, AFTER driving to the facility AGAIN. Every time they come they are courteous and thoughtful. Even on heavy snow days they will come to my door to see if I have trash. I don't always put it out on snow days if there is only a small amount in the very bottom. On Friday 11/22/2019 the nicest person came to my door and took my trash and my recycle to the curb. I felt bad for forgetting they would not be there the next Friday because of Thanksgiving. I wish I'd gotten his name. We have lived in CA, TX and WY and no other trash and recycle services even compares to Best Way in CO.
