They never answer emails. Have requested several times for a bulk pick up on their website but never got a response. This was done 4 times. Placed first call and they never answered the phone. Called again and was told of a call back service this morning. Still waiting and will give updates. YEAH! They called me back! The lady was nice and professional but informed me the pick up price is $80.00 dollars for the mattress, $80.00 dollars for the box springs and $80.00 dollars for the bed frame. For years we have received excellent service from Republic and loved the job our driver did. We must have lost our guy and they either can't find someone to fill his route or they filled his route with someone that literally hates their job. Our 67-unit community has had nothing but issues the last several months. Multiple times trash has been picked up 3-5 days late or part of our community is picked up and part isn't. Called them twice today to confirm our community was on the schedule and would be picked up and twice was told "trash will be picked up today by 5:30 pm" It's 7:30 still not picked up. The worst company I have ever done business with!! Constantly missing pickups and astronomical price gouging while I was on auto pay. I deleted all payment forms and auto pay, called and canceled my services. Eight days later, they pulled $755 (what they wanted for 3 Mos residential trash cans) from my card then tell me it will be up to 2 weeks to get a refund. This company is a joke!! read more

Customer service is atrocious. Website is useless, so a call must be made. Wait times are usually very long. A recording asks if the customer would like to leave a callback number. A callback number is left, however, there is never a return call. Over the past 2 to 3 years trash pick up has become undependable. "Unexpected circumstances" on a Friday delays collection until the next day (Saturday). No collection on Saturday, so trash cans sit until Monday, occasionally until Tuesday. Overall, this company provides a poor product and terrible customer service. Certainly not worth the price or the aggravation. read more

Missed pickups frequently. I shouldn't have to babysit these drivers. I pay EXTRA MONEY to have them pick up my trash right outside my garage door. The miss pickups frequently. i've been using Republic services my pick up for years. First of all back at a long time ago you bought your container so your container was yours. And then got that paid then they would bill right never happened. They started to charge rental fee for my container. Then they started to raise my bill a little by finally $71 later a it came out to 200 and some dollars every three months four months they would bill me and I'm like this is way too much so I lower it for a month or two and then they raise it up again it's so expensive so I wanted to my service and wanted to drop off my container at . They won't let you do that. They want to charge you an additional $40 to pick up their rental unit container that already paid four years but they have no record of they don't do that anymore so do not use this company they're horrible and they miss pick ups all the time. read more

Following years of appreciative service, I'm suddenly chasing customer service, across all methods provided through their user interface, and following up with phone calls. Every verbal interaction (less the very first) is an exercise in pacification (i.e. "I see a truck is on the way", "it will be later today", "scheduled for tomorrow", etc. etc....5 days now!! It all started with a missed, regularly scheduled pickup, last week (me, and the few remaining neighbors who have not yet turned to Rumpke). Understood. And, following a rather pleasant, initial interaction with customer service...we waited. Here we are 5 days and several interactions later, still waiting. I'm told, now, it will be tomorrow. In the interim, the aforementioned neighbors have received service...we even have surveillance video of a Republic Services truck sitting in our cul-de-sac for a moment, prior to servicing our neighbors' blue cans. A true customer dis-service, and at 3x the price the majority of our neighbors are paying for Rumpke...Shame on me for the loyalty!! read more

General manager Keith Mallory had my services cancelled and called the police.I said i was going to bring my garbage to their parking lot because they failed to pick it up! I don't know how this is a threat no property or humans were threatened with harm. Guess what they suck as a business. God forbid ya ask them to do what you pay them to do. If your local government doesn't force you to use Republic Services go with Rumpke. Unfortunately I could Not leave zero stars. Republic services repossessed my garbage can after a missed payment when the app never showed a payment due. I spent several hours on a Friday afternoon fixing the problem and paying the bill. The app now shows that I have overpaid my bill. The same guy in a big box truck dropped off my "new" garbage can, which is old and gross inside, then took my recycling bin as if there was still a problem with my account. That doesn't even make sense. I've overpaid and they keep taking my bins. I had to speak with 8 people to clear this up and now I have to do it again. My township government has forced me into using republic services or I would cancel service immediately and go back to Rumpke. I guess I'll spend another day on the phone next week trying to get my bin back. read more

0 stars Republic has missed trash pick ups several times and is unresponsive when they have been made aware. They have steadily increased their rates. I am paying an astronomically high bill. My fault since I am on auto pay and not paying attention. I cannot find any correspondence that alerts me to rate increases and I've tried calling only to be put on hold until I cannot hold any longer. I have tried to find some other way to contact them besides by phone and no joy. I have also looked for a price schedule and no joy. I will be cancelling my service with Republic. I live on a private gravel drive with no turn around. A few months ago (after 5 years of service) the recycling truck decided to start coming at 6 am, backing the entire length of the drive, beeping the entire way (4 homes on road). I work evenings and called to request them to come after 7, called 3x and they keep promising me they will request a route/time change, but nothing. I understand they are legally allowed to come at 6, but it seems strange and unnecessary they need to start the day with my tiny drive.. it wouldn't be a problem if I didn't work nights, and cannot get back to sleep. I live in Bellevue and pay republic services to pick up my recycling every two weeks. At this point, they have not picked up at my location for two cycles - well over 1 month. Yes, there was a weather excuse in there, but it is now getting very frustrating. At first I gave them some slack. Then they began sending "delay" messages. As in "it will be picked up tomorrow", then "by Friday", and ". "by the end of next Monday". Meanwhile, I simply left my recycling at the curb (so they could not claim it wasn't there when they came by). Finally, I called yesterday (Friday) and asked them to come get it. The service rep said they'd add it to that day's schedule. OR maybe they'd be able to get it by monday. As you can imagine, this is Saturday and it is still there......I pay for this! You should never use Republic Services. They increase your bill every month. Mine double over the course of two years, then they charge you $45 to pick up THEIR OWN GARBAGE CAN during their last trash pick up once you realize it (autopay)... I argued about having to pay it, so they sent my account to collections. I had an 840 credit score. Rumpke Waste & Recycling is an Ohio based Company and will have my business until my death. read more

We used Republic Services for many years in NE Ohio (Akron suburbs), so when we moved to the SW Ohio area (just north of Cincinnati) 4 years ago we chose to use Republic Services over Rumpke. Since then, on and off, we have had missed pickups, at times 1 out 3 or even 2 out of 4 weeks during a bad stretch. We have had trouble getting credit for missed pickups, despite working with the local hauler as well as reporting it online, and rarely, if ever, were missed pickups made up within a few days as stated. We are moving this upcoming weekend and elected not to use Republic and go with Rumpke instead. I called to cancel services with Republic to find that I am unable to end my service with a final regularly scheduled weekly pickup needed on Friday, April 7th, 2023 (after our move out). I must end my services either on Friday March 31st or Friday May 5th with NO other options or solutions offered. Neither option works and I was told by customer service I need to take it up with the local hauler as she had no authority to do anything. However, she could not provide me with any contact info for the local hauler other than a mailing address!? No phone number, no email and no contact name! I am so glad I did not choose Republic for our new home. Unfortunately, it seems my already bad experience with Republic here in Liberty Township (Butler County), Ohio ends even worse. I have to pay for at least an extra month to get one week of trash pickup and the cans won't be picked up for a month afterward **OR** I am simply unable to have one more regular weekly trash pick up following our move. It's a shame really because in the Akron, Ohio area for many years we had fabulous service from Republic Services and were very satisfied. If I could give republic (a little "r" because they're not worth capitalizing their name) zero stars, that would STILL be too good for this organization. Time and time again, they have "driver issues" and either our trash doesn't get picked up, or they show up and throw the garbage AND the recycling all into one truck. And yet, I pay for a premium for both services. Tatiana in customer service might be one of the worst (and most mentally challenged) customer service reps on the planet. No backbone either, as she hung up on my wife and then called back to leave a voice mail instead. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised that, with that little (or no) backbone, they just don't pour her into a cup each morning and set her on top of her workstation. No integrity and a largely useless human being overall from our experience. Perhaps if republic took all the trash out of their own employees pool, to include their management, people would start getting better service. I am so fed up with Republic. Recently my township forced the residents into using only Republic due to a contract they signed with them. It was this companies responsibility to notify us of the change, and instead we received nothing from them until the day that Rumpke was already taking away our old trash cans. The Rumpke customer service agents gave us more info then this company. I have had to call customer service 5x now since this fiasco started at the end of Sept. Each time I have gotten a different story and the representatives on the phone have all been very rude, despite me being perfectly clear and polite. None of them had much info about this township contract so couldn't help. Shouldn't your company know what is going on? They then started one account for me, billed me, I paid, then they closed it and opened another account without my knowledge. I then received a second double bill. At this point I called them again and they told me it was all a mistake and they would credit the amount I had already paid within 48hrs. This was not done and so I had to call back AGAIN to which the lady had no knowledge and claimed there were no notations on the account. She told me if I didnt pay the full amount it would be late. (Btw we received these bills 1 week before the due date). So far the trash pickup has been fine, but they do not offer weekly recycling like Rumpke does. In all the years I had Rumpke there was never a single issue. If you have the choice STAY. AWAY. FROM. THIS. COMPANY at all costs! read more

Yet another negative update. I thought everything was settled with Republic.....therefore any mail I received went straight into the Rumpke trash bin outside my house. I was wrong. They were still trying to bill me $45.86.....for something? The piece of mail I DID open was from a collections agency! I have never defaulted on a payment so I called Republic and got yet another blurry confusing BS explanation. Instead of arguing more I just paid the $45.86 (because they said it wasn't fully sent over to collections yet???) and I'm hoping this doesn't reflect on my credit which is otherwise flawless. This was maybe a month ago. Fast-forward to yesterday.....I get a check in the mail reimbursing the $45.86. WTF?! Send some unexpected unpaid bill to collections, then accept my payment, then refund it?! I guess I should just be happy they sent me a refund....but all the screwing around I have had to do with this company is just awful. read more

Republic did call back 6 hours later. Lady said that prices always go up. Her phone bill, cable bill, and water bill have gone up. Said I could always call and haggle on their price. Told her that having my trash bill go up over 20 percent a year was not acceptable. And having me to call and haggle prices when I was a good customer is not good business practices either. This year for the first time Republic missed a trash pick up one week. Another week they didn't pick up the recycling. So service was declining. I live on a cul-de-sac. 4 out of 9 homes had Republic. All have switched to Rumpke. Republic you have raised prices and service is declining! Wake up! read more

So Republic touts their recycling services but discontinued that service in the Northern Cincinnati market. Disappointing but it's their business decision to make. My problem is they then charge a fee to pickup the container they are discontinuing . Long time customer. read more

We switched to Republic from Rumpke because they offered a better price for our trash service. Then our bill suddenly went up. When I called for an explanation, I was told that we had originally been on a "special offer" price that had expired. We were never told that we were on a special offer price with a limited time. We were told by Republic that our next bills would continue to increase until we reached their current customer prices. These prices were going to be higher than Rumpke's prices so we canceled our service at the end of October which was the period through which we were paid up. They came to pick up their cans the next week as agreed. In January we received a bill for $16.35 and a threat to send it to a collection agency if we failed to pay. I attempted to call to find out what this bill was for and was on hold for 23 minutes the first day. I finally got through to a live person and was told that was the charge for picking up their cans. They claim to have sent a bill in November, but we did not receive it. We were never told we would have to pay anything additional when we cancelled the trash service in October. I'm glad to be done with them. read more
