They were raising their price once. And then it was the same. Republic charges a different price every month and they never communicate with you! We are NOT customers of Republic; never have been. On Jan 8, 2025, I saw out my window that their truck was stopped in front of our home. I didn't think much of it as our neighbors are customers; however, later in the day I discovered that both our trash totes were laying on the ground in the driveway and all the bags of trash that had been in them was laying, out of the can, in our driveway. Upon calling the customer service, which was subpar, it appeared the driver started to collect our trash, realized we weren't customers, then dropped it and left. I asked if I could file a complaint as I found it to be disrespectful and unprofessional. I stated I understood that people are human, and it was an honest mistake, however the fact that the trash was left like that was NOT okay. The fact that the driver didn't even bother to knock on the door, leave a note, etc apologizing for the error, was NOT okay. The fact that the customer service rep told me my complaint had too many characters for her to put in her computer was an excuse in my opinion. I asked the rep to have someone call me to discuss the issue and I could provide them with the picture of how the trash and cans were left. She stated she would have someone call me. I specifically told her that if someone would simply call me to address the issue I would not go to BBB or other review sites with the issue, needless to say, I have yet to receive a call. read more

Republic has been an asset to our properties in Bloomington, Indiana. Donna truly cares about her customers and does everything in her power to help out. She is quick to answer the phone and has always been there to provide us emergency dumpster pickups. All of the drivers have amazing attitudes and truly go above and beyond, not only taking the dumpster but cleaning up any trash around! It is a night and day difference with Republic compared to putting up with the headache Waste Management caused us. read more

Republic is what is wrong with corporate American greed. They will continually try to raise your rates and add additional mystery fees to your bill sometimes with three rate increases in a single year. When you call to discontinue service as a result, they will offer to back down on the rate. If you accept, they will literally raise your rate on the next billing cycle and then when you tell them to come collect their trash cans, they will charge you $50 for that. I highly recommend you work with Ava's Waste Removal, they are local and are real people who treat you like a customer and not a number. Also, they are much more affordable and have not ever tried to raise my rates! read more

My bin was out for recycling this morning and I heard the truck going through our neighborhood. I remembered a large box from a chair we had delivered and ran it out to the curb, with scissors, and started breaking it down in the hopes of getting even PART of it in the bin. The driver pulled up as I was trying to disassemble this box (it was from a stuffed chair, so not an insubstantial size), "don't worry about it, I can grab it" He asked me to move back. I did. He tried & missed. I adjusted it. He grabbed it, threw it in the bin, and it collapsed as it went in. It's no longer taking up space in my garage, I didn't have to cut it apart and try to wrangle it into my bin, and it was done in less than 3 minutes. Thank you to the driver! I'm giving 1 star because the customer service is so atrocious and they raised my prices every 3 months without a word. The gentlemen actually picking up the trash each week were great and never missed a day. My bill started at $54.99 every 3 months, plus a $15 rental fee for 2 trash cans. Found out later they also charge a fuel/environmental surcharge that fluctuates with the cost of gas so another $26 was added to the bill. They decided I needed another trash can so dropped off a 3rd at my house without me asking. Ok. In the next billing cycle, they charged me a $30 rental fee for 3 cans. Makes no sense right? Three months later, my service went up to $70 every 3 months, $42 now for the same 3 trash cans, and the f/e surcharge went from $26 to $52. I called to try to get them to lower the fees or pick up one of the trash cans and was put on hold for OVER 30 MINUTES before I even got a live person, then again for another 15 mins. just for the guy to come back and give me some very lame story as to why they wouldn't. They said they would charge me $30 to pick up the one can though. I said to go ahead. Later, I got smart and took the advice of others and called Ava's Waste Removal - $69 every 3 months, NO trash can rentals and NO fuel surcharge. I immediately called Republic back and of course, waited on hold for another 30+ mins. until they were CLOSED! Thankfully a young lady called me back and allowed me to cancel services. I even received a confirmation number. So they are charging me $90 to pick up my trash cans which were supposed to be picked up today. I am also supposed to receive a refund of some funds since I paid in full already for the coming months. Can you guess what happened? The trash collector came to get my trash today because he'd not been notified that I canceled and no one has picked up my trash cans. They are going to claim ignorance and try to keep even more of the money that should be refunded to me because they didn't stop my service as requested. I should call them right now but the thought of sitting on hold with them forever makes me cringe! Unless you're willing to pay $200+ every 3 months STAY AWAY FROM REPUBLIC. read more

After realizing that a local trash and recycling service offered the same service for 1/3 of the price, I called Republic and they matched the price for our 3 month billing period. After 3 months, they raised the price. I just canceled after a long wait on the phone, but it will cost $88 for them to pick up the 2 containers. read more

Awful billing service that changes your rates every three months for no reason. I called them and they said my next billing cycle they would discount my bill for the overage and the next bill was even more. So I canceled my service before the end of the billing period and they took 2 weeks to pick up the can and charged me another 45$. One can of trash for 3 months should never be 160$+ when other businesses are 20$/month. read more

Republic Services is an example of a well known company you want to stay away from. They continually raise rates and when you cancel their service they charge you a fee you never agreed to to pick up their container. There are many local services you can choose from that are better than RS.. read more

It's too bad that giving a negative star rating isn't an option. We got quotes from 5 different vendors. Four of them (all local companies) were around the same price, and Republic Services was almost twice the cost. On top of that, they are "unable" to cancel an account in the middle of the month, so we're paying for 3 weeks of their services that we won't be using. If I could give zero stars I would. Do not choose this company as your trash service. When we were first quoted it was about $27 a month but apparently they don't include fees with their quotes so it ended up being more than that. We also had to pay a fee for dropping off our trash can. Then after nickel and diming us for two years we were paying well over $100 for three months of service. Since they bill only every three months, you don't really notice the increase as it's only a few dollars more each month until one day you get a bill for $100+. When I called to cancel my service they told me it would be $30 to pickup the trash can but again they didn't include fees so it ended up being alomst $50 to pick up a dang trash can. We now have Express Waste Removal which quoted us at $15ish a month and our bill was really the price they quoted us at. They also didn't charge us to drop off our bin or charge us a monthly rental fee. Also, if we decide to include recycling it would only be $6 more a month. How awesome is this company compared to Republic?! I would highly recommend Express Waste Removal if you're ready to make the switch! read more

April 6, 2016. First off, I have been a regular customer of Republic's 30 cubic foot & 40 cubic foot "rolloff" containers. I've spent thousands in the past. That's all to change, and here's the story. (1) They delivered the 30 cf container WITH a huge pool of water in it. It wasn't empty! It had not drained out as their customer service people are wont to tell you it will do. If they say that, don't believe it. I am witness to it. It might drain out SOME, but far fro all of it. And if you've got trash already in it, like a sponge, it will leave behind whatever your debris has absorbed as well as a huge pool on the bottom. (2) Keeping the aforementioned in mind, a forecast of storms was on the way; you can imagine the tons of rain water that I would end paying for. The company doesn't provide a tarp to cover it. I took my own tarp that I had on hand and personally covered it. I notified the company what I had done in an attempt to (1) not have to be forced to pay for rainwater and (2) to notify the company so that I could remove my tarp before the driver arrived. This apparently wasn't what Republic wished to hear. Amanda was extremely UNHELPFUL and inflexible. (A) She was adamant in saying that the driver would not wait for me to remove the tarp. If the driver were to come to pick up the container and wouldn't have immediate access to it, she said it would be a "DRY RUN." She didn't say so, but I'm assuming I would be charged for this dry run. (B) When I'd asked to have the driver call me before coming, Amanda at Republic refused to provide any assurance of when the driver would arrive to pick up the container. Not only that, she said the drivers aren't able to call ahead of the pickup time to even give me a heads up!! (C) Amanda continued by telling me the driver could arrive anytime between 3 o'clock IN THE MORNING to 5 o'clock that day of pickup! That's a time window of FOURTEEN hours. And here you thought the cable Guy's 3-hour time window was outrageous? Ha! Without a question, Republic Services is the least customer-oriented company of ANY genre I have ever had to deal with. There needs to be a negative star rating for companies of this ilk. Their insistence on having it their way without a hint of attempting to be helpful far surpasses the boundaries of rudeness to being punitive! read more

The guys who do the weekly pickups are great - they would even grab my bin when I hadn't put it on the curb on occasion. But in the 2 years since I started service, my bill has gone from $17.45 a month to $26 a month - no one told me all of the additional charges would continually increase. I have called to 3 other waste removal companies and asked specifically about cost - they are still at the $17 a month or less, and don't have the added fees that Republic has. They have simply gotten too big to consider their customers. At 3 weeks since canceling service with Republic, I am still waiting on my refund. **Update**: at 4 weeks still no refund - I have received an invoice with the amount of my refund which is much less than any normal person would expect. Paid $78 for 3 months of service, and will get a refund for 2 of those months of $38 - I think someone has some shady math skills. read more

I use to refer my tenant to this company. Not anymore! Problem was not with pick-up, it's with billing. Keep trying to charge you after you cancel. Then they charging you to come out and pick up their container. Talk to one person in billing they say one thing. Talk to another person in same department they, say something different. Want to deal with the most frustrating and inconsiderate billing and customer service people around? Look no farther! My annual contract was over and I paid a quarterly payment and started a claim to switch to this billing cycle instead. I was given a claim number but no call back and when I called them I was told I couldn't switch for another year. They didn't pickup my trash this week though technically I'm paid up for another month. Now you want a 35$ interruption fee? Don't hold your breath..... I'd rather spend it on a start up fee with a company that employs customer service and billing people who are able to think outside the box. What's so hard to understand about my not wanting to pay annually if I'm selling my home? You say I'd get a refund but after all the hidden fees- like 30$ to pickup your own property- it's doubtful I'd see much of that annual fee returned. I guess you people are so big that ' what's one customer' more or less!! Now you have one less.... even if I have to spend more it'll be worth it to never deal with your customer service and billing department again. read more

Bill keeps going up. Called last time and had a credit added back. This time was unlucky and connected with an unhelpful representative. Not rude, just disinterested in my concerns and incredibly unhelpful. Bill went up approx. $10 and Ms. H insisted that I had the regular rate and the additional $10 was the fuel surcharge itemized as $13 and change on the bill. She kept insisting that my rate was the regular and normal rate. Bad math, bad service. Dropped Republic Services and signed on with Monster Trash, bill dropped by $8.63 per month. ****WARNING**** Use this company at your own risk!!! I will NEVER recommend this business to anyone. I would award it NO stars if I could, but that's not an option here on Yelp. Too bad. This weak excuse for a garbage service company can't get their shi* together when it comes to picking up trash. We just moved across town and needed service set up. So we called Republic, having used them at our previous location, and even got the OK to use a "Rumpke" trash toter (same as the previous folks did living at this address). We put our trash out on Monday as directed (again, same day as our previous location) and so last Monday goes by, but no trash pick up. We put the trash back out again for Monday pick up, and no one picked it up again. Called Republic 2x to ask about getting our trash picked up and received confirmation that it would be picked up that Monday by 2 different ladies. We woke up Tuesday to find that our trash was NOT picked up. We called Republic Tuesday morning and were given 2 different excuses for their ineptness. First, we're told that our toter wasn't out at the end of the driveway for pick up (not true - blatant lie from Republic), and then we were told our trash didn't get picked up because it was in a "Rumpke" toter. Now, which is it, Republic? After no service, being lied to and an overall dislike for Republic at this point (they pulled this same scam when we lived at the previous address), and after making 5 calls to them regarding regular service they should be easily able to provide (right?!), we want our money back. So on the 6th call back, the guy I spoke to on the line told me he "didn't have time" to work this out and that he would be issuing me a refund. So it's OK for you take my money?? OK, I have an idea. Why don't you take out your wallet and hand me your money, and then I'll just hang on to it for 4-6 weeks, which is how long it's going to take for Republic to refund my money. I just gave Republic Services an INTEREST-FREE LOAN for services I have NEVER received. These people are the worst. This company is the worst. Do not use them - they will scam you for your money! And I looked at the other reviews, sounds like they could use some SIGNIFICANT training in customer service. I'm going to bet this review, if it gets a response from the company, it will be the standard cut/paste job the other reviewers received. Rate went up 60% beginning January 2017. They (customer service) were not apologetic and couldn't explain why. This plus increase in fuel feels increased my quarterly bill from $59.22 to $92.76. Unacceptable! read more
