I was hesitant in joining any Crossfit box because I had back injuries that limited me to what I could do. Plus I was overweight and unmotivated. A friend of mine had posted her awesome results since joining Evo. I was surprised how close in location the box was and I was especially enticed with the free 2-week offer. Other boxes I looked at only offered 1 free day and their intro classes was a week long. Evo has a 1 month on-ramp beginner class that ensures a stable foundation before you move on to the regular classes. The coaches (Mario, Walter, Brandon & Jason) are great and make sure that proper form and technique is followed. My first class I was barely able to complete a full set of lunges. I felt defeated and realized how out of shape I've become. But that didn't stop the coaches from giving up on me. Plus the community! People I did not know we're cheering me on and that ignited a fire inside me. I fell in love with Evo and Crossfit because of how strong I've become, the confidence it gave me and the amazing friendships who've become my 2nd family. Evo is more than just a gym, it's a place where support is given, laughter is shared and goals are achieved. This is the Crossfit box you want to be a part of! read more

SO much to say about Evo. I'll try to keep it short and sweet, but I doubt I can keep my praises to a minimum. My husband and I have 2 things going against us: complicated work schedules as a firefighter and nurse practitioner, and 2 young children. I was really interested in getting into a box somewhere because I have friends who love their workouts in the Long Beach and San Diego areas. I needed something to motivate me into getting myself physically stronger, leaner, and healthier. As an NP, I had already taken care of patients who had suffered from rhabdomyolysis (destruction of muscle tissue that can cause organ damage), not to mention many pain management patients who have herniated discs from lifting anything! I was determined to find a place that focused on proper training, not just getting it done and getting the big number up there. Any physical injury to myself, and more importantly my husband, could be detrimental to our current careers. I took tours of 4 boxes near us and was just turned off by some of things I saw. I won't go into detail because I'm sure they're good places, just totally not for me. We came across Evo after our kids got out of their summer camp, and Sam and Jason were around to give us information. Jason took us on a little tour around the area and we were already impressed with what we saw and what we heard. Luckily for us, they took our son (he's 3) and daughter and started them in hapkido. Brandon was fantastic taking Joe and I into crossfit. He, along with Walter, Mario, and Sam, did (and STILL do) a phenomenal job making sure that we're doing things efficiently, effectively, and safely. There's so much attention on focus on each individual that it's really pretty similar to private training sessions. Didn't think I'd get addicted, but I did! They have something called an on ramp program which allows you to work on proper form and technique before you join the regular classes. I couldn't be more grateful for that. There's constant observation by the coaches to help with proper form to minimize risk of any injuries. Jason focuses on the hapkido classes and, along with AJ, they have taken our children to a whole different level. Our kids love their lessons. I can see them smiling as they learn and enjoying every minute of it. Our son had the most difficult time listening and keeping still. Almost 3 months later, he's MUCH more calm and listens to us, both with Mr Jason and at home, although he's still a work in progress. Our daughter went from being quiet and lacking confidence to speaking louder and being more sure of herself. So its not just the martial arts and physical strength they're focusing on. It's confidence and discipline. Those are things that everyone could use help in when raising their children. Both kids ask if they're going to hapkido on a daily basis. i love that I don't feel like I'm forcing them. If anything, they force me to get there after a hard day's work! As if that isn't enough, the crossfit classes and the hapkido classes run concurrently, so while the kids are in hapkido, we're in crossfit! totally a win win! Evo focuses on some awesome aspects of life: physical fitness and conditioning, self defense, discipline, respect, and confidence. And its not just for our children, it's for all 4 of us. We're totally hooked. I RARELY praise places, but this place went above and beyond my expectations. Come on over and check it out! You'll be glad you did. read more

Crossfit Evolution makes you feel at home from the start, I am on my second month and addicted to it. Brandon Jason and Sam bring a friendly environment and track your progress for you to succeed, if your looking for a gym to forge Elite these guys will get it done. Not only do they crossfit but they also have a martial art spot next door and the equipment for both of the gyms make it totally worth it. read more

Evolution Martial Arts is absolutely amazing and we highly recommend them to everyone we know. Their MiniCubs and Tiny Tigers Hapkido classes provide the perfect balance of physical activity, discipline and fun and our son looks forward to going to class every week. All of the instructors are phenomenal and they keep the children engaged with different activities that vary from class to class. They work towards improving each child's self discipline, communication skills and confidence while also encouraging the kids to work together as a team and have fun. Performance incentives are given such as stickers, goodies from the treasure chest and belt stripes and individual achievement goals are set for the students. These help keep the kids interested and encourage them to stay focused and work hard towards improving their performance and skills. When a child performs especially well or masters a certain skill, they are recognized in front of the class. Over time the kids are rewarded with tips on their belts and progression to the next belt color/level resulting in high self-esteem. The instructors can be strict with the kids and they hold them accountable for their behavior but they do it in a way that commands respect and fosters positivity. They challenge the children to improve their skill set and be their very best. Our son started taking classes when he was 3 years old and he is now 4 1/2. During this time he has greatly improved his balance, flexibility, concentration, core strength, knowledge of the positions and listening skills. We hope that our son will continue to attend his Hapkido classes and progress through the ranks for many years to come. read more

I tried Evo because of the fact that they offered an Intro Class (4 weeks) that gradually teaches you the proper form and technique for the various Crossfit movements. After 4 weeks at Evo, I found myself loving Crossfit, wanting to learn more from the coaches, and enjoying getting to know the people that I became friends with. Working out on a regular basis was no longer something I dreaded, it was always a great way to end my day. Check out Evo! You won't regret it and this place will become your second home away from home. read more

This is a great place. My husband and I discovered it through a coupon special and we couldn't be happier. We signed up for 10 Crossfit classes and will be continuing after we're through. The location serves a dual purpose. You can take a martial arts class or Crossfit. We've taken classes with Brandon and Allison and both have been excellent teachers taking the time to demonstrate proper form so no one gets hurt and watching as you execute the exercises. They have a Crossfit intro class called Crossfit on Ramp which is set up to introduce you to the various workouts and they have regular Crossfit. Both classes are a challenge. All in all we're so happy to have stumbled across this great place, thanks guys for your knowledge, patience and encouragement. read more

We've been looking for a right program for our son to learn discipline and self confidence for so long and we finally found Evolution Martial Arts & Crossfit. I can't thank enough to Mr. Jason and his team of instructors have been a positive influence towards my son, they are extremely caring and understanding. The most important thing is my son loves his class and so motivated to learn more and more. They have helped my son become a better person just by teaching him in different ways. Thank you to the great team! read more

I can not speak more highly of Evolution Martial Arts Academy and the instructors. The care and dedication they show to all their students is top notch and how they inspire the learners to believe in themselves and do their best. My children have been coming here for over a year and their self-esteem, self-disabling and confidence has grown tremendously. Coach Jason and Coach AJ are great teachers and have the gift of working well with children of all ages. If you are interested in martial arts look no further, this is the best Academy in the Valley. read more

Amazing experience. We started taking our son here during summer in replace of summer camp and it was the best decision. The facilities are nice and clean, the instructors are awesome. This place not only teaches martial arts but also discipline, leadership and confidence. Our son is very active and this was perfect for him. read more

I first heard of EVO through some friends who had recently left our beloved gym to try out this new "Crossfit " thing. I was very apprehensive about joining because of torn meniscus issues and all those crazy injuries I had read about in articles due to "crossfit". I waited almost a whole year before I called EVO and spoke to Jason about what accommodations they offered at the gym for people like me. Jason was super friendly and helpful. He let me know there were modifications that could be made to just about everything. AND if I was not comfortable doing a specific movement due to pain, it could be substituted. Still hesitant, I joined only after receiving a groupon certificate from one of my friends and have only one regret: Not joining sooner! EVO has challenged me and made me a stronger person than I was a year and a half ago. I have achieved fitness goals that I was not able to achieve in a regular gym or with a personal trainer. Everyone at EVO is like a big family and it truly is a pleasurable place to come and workout. The people here are very encouraging and this helps keep everyone motivated towards their fitness goals. The coaches are very knowledgeable and do all they can to help you achieve the right form in order to succeed. I love this box and it has truly become a second home for me. With the help of the coaches, I have reached a point where I feel better than I ever have before and you simply can't put a price on that. If you're looking for a crossfit box, I recommend you check this one out. You wont be disappointed. read more

Update: I love this box! I have been a member for 3 years and I am so proud of the progress I have made with the help from Coach Walter, Mario, and Brandon. I conquered my first handstand, rope climb and DU's (double unders) which I couldn't be happier about considering I was never able to do any of that! I look forward to the upcoming new year to see what I can accomplish next. The staff here is great. They conveniently pre order my favorite protein supplements from Progenex and have new EVO shirts every few months. I always look forward to the WOD and working out with awesome people who are motivated and who encourage me when I need that extra push. If you thought about trying crossfit, do it here! You will be surprised at what you can do! read more

My daughter attends the Evolution gym in the tiny tigers class. She has been attending for a couple months but I am thoroughly pleased with our experience so far! The whole staff has been extremely polite and easy to work with. Since my daughter has been attending the classes she has learned to listen better and able to memorize things easier. I think that is attributed to her having to memorize positions and different types of punches. Her balance has also gotten tremendously better which will help her to be more coordinated. If you're thinking about signing your child up, I would highly recommend them, while most places only offer a one day trial, they offer 10 days, which is great. The gym is also clean and well ventilated which is a plus. I was surprised to see how organized the staff is and how smoothly run the classes/belt test ceremonies are. I give Evolution gym 5 stars! read more

I absolutely loved the 4 week introduction class they provided. They gave you a list of all the workouts you would be doing so it wasn't a surprise. It wasn't like most beginner classes I've taken in the past. They threw you right into the workout so you would know what to expect when you join the regular membership. They are very friendly and answered all my questions. They want you to succeed and make you feel apart of their crossfit family. They have a clean gym and fun loving atmosphere. If you are ready to WORK and see results then I highly suggest you give them a shot. They won't disappoint! read more

I am not a gym friendly kind of guy at all, I've never been but I knew I had to get in shape sooner than later. I decided to join the beginners course back in February at Evolution Martial Arts & Crossfit and I'm glad I did. It's been six months and not planning on quitting. All staff and coaches (Jason, Brandon, Walter and Mario) are very knowledgeable and very SUPPORTIVE. Totally a different environment of what I thought it was going to be like( I thought I was going to feel out of place since I knew nothing about working out). All members are friendly and supportive as well. I will highly recommend EVO to anybody that is up for the challenge to get in shape, build some muscle and strength. read more

I wanted to try and get in shape and my good friends were telling me about Evolution Crossfit. I started in 5/2016 and I am addicted. The crew (Jason, Brandon, Mario, Walter) are excellent coaches and motivators. Since then my wife and daughter have joined and they enjoy it as well. My grandson also takes martial arts classes at Evo. Great staff, great atmosphere, and always positive. Highly recommend! read more

I started crossfit a few months ago and I gotta tell you, I love it! My friend told me about EVOMAA and I'm so glad she did. At first, I was a little nervous about lifting heavy weight but the coaches made it easy for me to follow the movements. That's what I like most, at EVOMMA everyone is welcomed. It doesn't matter what level you are, each WOD can be modified to fit your personal strength. "The burden of never trying is heavier than a barbell will ever be" so stop waiting and sign up!!! read more

Now 2 months in and like I have mentioned to Brandon, I am crushing on CF. I have so far enjoyed my introduction to all that is CF and appreciate Brandon and Sam for their patience and thorough explanation on lifts and the importance of proper form. I have always said I can't when it comes to athleticism but slowly but surely Brandon is having me see that I can and I do. It is because of the training ways of both Brandon and Sam that I continue to enjoy CF, even when the WOD's whoop my ass! read more

My daughters (ages 5 and 10) have been attending Hapkido classes at Evolution for over two years now and they absolutely love it. Both of them are progressing in their martial arts skills, while cultivating focus, determination, and confidence as they move up the ranks of the various colored belts. This is definitely not a "belt mill" martial arts studio. The kids learn legitimate skills before they are allowed to test and earn the next belt. The studio is clean and spacious with plenty of seating for parents and siblings to watch classes; or parents even have the option of taking a Crossfit class while their kids are in Hapkido! There is also a dedicated area for siblings to do homework or hang out and have a snack. Honestly, I can't say enough wonderful things about Evolution! The instructors are personable and skilled and truly care about the children. All of the parents I have met are friendly and down to earth, and I feel as if I have connected with some lifelong friends. I am so thankful for my "Evolution family." If you are interested in finding a Martial arts studio for your children (or even yourself!) I highly encourage you to check out Evolution Martial Arts Studio. You will not be disappointed! read more

My husband and I started Crossfit a few months ago at Evolution. We were really looking for a gym that was easy-going but motivating. And that's exactly what we found. I never felt intimidated by the other members, everyone helped us get accustomed to the Crossfit culture, but yet we were motivated and pushed during each workout. Jason made a huge difference for me. He is no-nonsense while also caring. He challenged me during every workout, and most of all, was present. We wasn't on his phone or busy talking to others. For that hour I was in there, he was right there with me. He is super knowledgeable and you can tell he enjoys what he does. Added bonus? He is a wonderful martial arts instructor for the kids too! They are affordable, non-pretentious, and an incredibly supportive group of people. Do yourself a favor and try them out. read more

I would give more than 5 stars if I could. EVO has been such a wonderful experience for our daughter (5 years old). She has strength, confidence, motivation, and fun! We have only been a member for a month but we are more impressed every week we go. Mr. Jason and the instructors are amazing with kids! They teach them discipline and confidence at the same time while building friendships and encouraging health, strength, honesty, and knowledge! Way to go, Evolution! read more

This is my home away from home. I take both the crossfit and martial arts classes. The instructors and coaches are extremely patient with you and they really do know what they are doing. If you are considering trying crossfit for the first time, this would be the perfect place for you. You learn technique and form at your own pace. If martial arts is what you are into, the Hapkido classes are an excellent way to keep your mind and body in shape and you get all of it for one price! I really do love this place. read more

Walked in and didn't feel welcome @ all .... Teacher talked as if he didn't want me there

Came in on a Groupon deal I couldn't refuse in April... $39.00 for one month unlimited Crossfit. I was looking to change up my fitness routine from running to something that involved more weight training and I was always interested in how Crossfit uses weights/gymnastics/calisthenics ... so I decided to at least give it a try for the month with hopes to learn all that I could and use whatever I learned on my own since the cost for Crossfit ANYWHERE IS NOT CHEAP... Fast forward to now... I'm on my 4th month here at Evo... addicted to killing myself 5 days a week in the name of Crossfit and I found a way to deal with the cost of this addiction. I know they aren't the biggest, don't have all the latest equipment, and don't have trainers competing in the games. But what they do have is great coaches that are eager to assist everyone in learning Crossfit the right way at a pace that's comfortable but challenging... quality over quantity. If you're looking for a place to train and learn Crossfit this is a great place to start and they also offer martial arts training included with the membership! ... get up... get active... give Evo a try. read more

this place is so awesome i hope it never ends. i've known the trainer Brandon my whole life, we loved karate kid and cobra kai which this all stemmed from. but his studio is super awesome and he's super helpful. i'm overweight but thru crossfit i've been able to shed some serious pounds. Like a lot of people, I was hesitant to try out Crossfit because i have a bad knee and back issues. My sister has been a member for a while, and she kept explaining to me that I just had to try it, and that i'm sure i would end up liking it. I took the beginner's course in January, and found that while challenging, it was very fun and something that i saw myself able to do. The coaches here are extremely helpful, and have found ways for me to get better in all the things that we do. I've visited other gyms, and while they were nice, they don't have the personal feel that Evo has. Every class is like having a personal trainer, and every class has some great people to work out with. And everyone is so supportive! So not only do you get a super intense workout, but you get to meet some really cool and good people. Glad I joined. Big props to Brandon, Jason, Walter and Mario for helping out a guy like me get into better shape. read more

My son has been going to Evolution Martial Arts since he was three years old and he is now seven! Evolution has shaped my son in so many ways from understanding discipline, sportsmanship, self-defense and knowing when this comes into play, determination and most of all respect for himself, others and even who he may oppose in any situation. Everyone there has been an instrumental and impactful person in his life from Mr. Jason, Mr. Brandon, Mr. A.J. to all the other instructors who have supported everyone there throughout the years. My son has not only learned to LOVE Hapkido, but he has found great confidence and pride in the skills he has attained over the years thanks to the devotion of all the instructors at Evolution Martial Arts! I don't know about you, but CrossFit has always seemed pretty intimidating to me. I decided to give it a try at Evo, and could not be happier that I did. Evo has a 4-week on-ramping course that prepares you to safely complete Olympic-style weightlifting and introduces you to the different styles of workouts you might see during the regular classes. One of my biggest concerns going into all of this was being pressured to do things I just couldn't do and ultimately hurting myself. The coaches at Evo are amazing, though, and encourage you to evaluate your own abilities and do modified workouts as necessary, while also pushing you to the next level. I have a fused spine, so there are certain exercises I can't do, but the coaches always remember this and help me figure out alternative or modified exercises. Speaking of the coaches, YOU WILL LOVE THEM!!! They all knew my name after only one class and continue to be so incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It is such a positive atmosphere that you'll want to go back even just for the great people (coaches and classmates included). Be warned, they remember when you don't come to class, so be prepared for some serious accountability! But really, if you are looking to do CrossFit and want to have a great time doing it, Evo is the place to go! read more

In August 2014 I made a decision to get healthy and fit, so I started to look on yelp for MMA course and found Evolution MMA and crossfit. I had be thinking about trying crossfit as will. I saw it some reviews, but all of them were great reviews. After two year I can see why they had all great reviews. Prior to joining Evo, I didn't have any sense of commitment or a support system. This place helped be committed to my goal because of the support system there. When I first met my fellow athletes, they were all willing to help, motivate, and see me improving. There is no competition among one another, the only competition u have is with urself, that was one of first things I heard. They welcome me into their community with open arms like I was family. The people and environment is only half of it. The coaches there are simply amazing. They care about you, they care about ur goals, they care about ur development, they just care. They not there for the money, they are there for u! They always watching to make ur u don't hurt urself and to give u tip on improve your form. They motive to you to keep pushing, not in a degrading way, but in a way that they believe in you!
