My kids have been here for over 2 years now, so I'm a bit overdue for a review. Mayid is a safe space for everyone and very accepting. My kids are thriving here with excellent instructors, all with their own special talents. I trust them to not only teach my kids, but to encourage growth, physically and emotionally. Family friendly environment with many fun extras, but mostly, I trust them with my kids and love that my children have a lot of fantastic humans to learn from, staff and members alike. read more

I recently joined Mayid Martial Arts with my family and I must say that it has been an amazing experience for us all. The dojo is immaculately clean and the people there are incredibly friendly and welcoming. One of the things that struck me most about the dojo was how judgment-free it was. there is a sense of safety in being able to fail and learn from your mistakes. The instructors at Mayid Martial Arts are top-notch, and they truly care about their students. They take the time to get to know each student individually and tailor their instruction to meet the needs of each person. I have been amazed at how much I have grown in just a few short months of training. What I love most about Mayid Martial Arts is that it has brought our family closer together. We grow together as a family and support each other in our individual journeys. Mayid Martial Arts has truly changed our lives, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to learn martial arts or just looking for a supportive community to grow in. They welcome people of all ages, so it's never too late to start! read more

We enrolled our son almost a year ago at age 4. Our son is diagnosed on the autism spectrum and had some difficulty with communication early on. We decided to take the free class and on day 1 our son walked into class with the form of a wet noodle. Soft, all over the place and seemed out of sorts. However, he enjoyed the class and we decided to continue cautiously. A year later, our son has transformed completely. He is a sold machine who responds to questions, has self discipline, can defend himself from strangers, and has pride in his abilities. All at age 5!! Cru Dan, Cru Brie, and Cru Sebastian are all wonderful with the youth classes and have helped our child grow towards the next stage of his life. In addition to the teachers, the community built with the parents and students is open, welcoming , and supportive. Mayid is truly wonderful. read more

Words cannot express how much I adore Mayid Martial Arts. Kru Dan and Kru Sara have have embedded a culture of respect for others and yourself, while still attaining a top tier training program regardless of your level. Beginners will be warmly welcomed and individuals looking for competition level training will be able to unlock that potential as well. You will be challenged, but at your own level. Each class will bring you one step higher than the last class as long as you're consistent! Being here has taught me much about myself and for that I am forever grateful for my lessons I've been able to receive from Kru Dan. This gym is my home away from home. Good people all around and an excellent place to challenge yourself as a martial artist (of all levels and experience) and to grow as an individual within a beautiful community. Here you'll learn strong fundamentals for you to build upon. Clinch classes and sparring is available on Fridays if you want access to that as well. Regardless you'll get a hell of a workout. Trussst!!! Extra bonus for being the cleanest gym I've ever been to and the jams they spin here has always got me grooving. If you're looking for a Muay Thai/karate gym in SoCal, I highly recommend Mayid Martial Arts. Sawasdee khap read more

The training here is provided by teachers that not only know the technicals aspects, but believe in the positive cultural influence of Muay Thai to transform the practitioners life. While they can train you up to as high a level as you're willing to strive for, you will become a better person too. I started training to provide an example for my son, in hopes he would follow and take classes. My son hasn't exhibited the willingness to train (just turned 3) but Kru Dan Mayid has not shown any impatience and welcomes my entire family into his clean gym with an excellent family environment, all the while pushing the limits of the people training this martial art. read more

We love Mayid Martial Arts!! They are invested in each student's journey for growth. Both my kids and I look forward to our classes every week. They teach self-discipline, self-defense and great martial arts technique in a fun, caring and safe environment. The Krus are very supportive they bring knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to every single class. Personally, I would've never considered doing Muay Thai if it weren't for the caring and supportive ways of Mayid's dojo. read more

I joined Mayid Martial Arts back in 2021 during the midst of the COVID pandemic. That year was my breaking point. Prior to that time, I felt gravely crippled by the way I lived my life passively. I was consumed by negative self-talk and grown accustomed to belief that I wasn't good enough...even to try. Each passing by the studio, I'd be mesmerized by the display of strength and agility. And wondered if I was equipped to be among these ferociously remarkable fighters. Then one day, I figured I'd attend at least a class--soak my feet in the water and maybe gain the idea of becoming more courageous. Oh man...when I stepped through those doors, I sure darn was overwhelmingly intimidated. But even so, the environment gradually began to ease. Environment--meaning ultimately the people, their warmth and equally rough-around-the edges kind of encouragement and support. I remember after that class, Kru-Dan said something profound that stuck with me, "The challenge is in that first step." That first-step was a challenge, but it encouraged me to take another step further. This place continues to challenge me in every way. Most of all, challenges my mindset and how I now approach the world. I've allowed myself to be okay with the fact that I am a definite work in progress. But see it as a path not only for constant growth and learning, but also a path to exceed beyond the barriers and expectations of which are merely self-creations of the mind. So yeah that's my spiel, and hopefully this little account will embolden you (whoever you wonderful being are) to take the first step!:) read more

My son loves this place. Positive, nurturing environment. Excellent experience. My family is grateful!

Kru Dan is the best teacher around. He has devoted his life to martial arts. He is a teacher/coach that brings so much talent and skill to each and every class and private lesson. I've had the opportunity to work with many coaches and NOTHING tops Kru Dan. He inspires, motivates, and is honestly one of the most fun people I've been around. He truly loves what he does and it is clear to see. His facility is sooooooooo impeccably clean and well maintained. I'm so happy Kru Dan has finally opened up his own place and gets to spread his gift as both a teacher and martial artist. read more

I really love this place, ive been attending for a few months now... and can't imagine training anywhere else. I tried a couple different places before deciding to stay at Mayids. Kru Dan and his team are very knowledgeable and great with explaining everything without making you feel silly lol. I definitely reccomend this place to everyone, all ages! read more

Dan Mayid - 30+ years of Karate and Muay Thai. Literally a local legend in Northern Los Angeles area; has finally opened up his own gym -- and its legit. The word on the street has been electric apparently. Go to the website and try a free class, regardless of your skill level. There is a home for everyone here.. whether you want to get in shape, learn a new skill, learn how to protect yourself, and/or if you want to start participating in competitions. Parents, if you're looking for someone, I promise you, you'll know this is the right place for your little one's self confidence... and of course, to release all of that "kid energy" out. For those teenagers and college students, go in and start now, there are plenty of professionals that can advance your skill set if you ever desire to compete during your non-school time. I have known Kru Dan for 5+ years! When I took his first Muay Thai class, I knew I had found an AMAZING teacher! He makes everyone feel welcome. He understands that we ALL learn at different rhythms and we each have our own style. Everything I know about Muay Thai is because of him! Kru Dan has been training Martial Arts since he is a little kid, so Martial Arts for him is a way of life! He offers classes from the little dragons to the big ones! Kru Dan is the best instructor you can ask for. Incredibly knowledgable and passionate, you know he is doing this for the love of the art and a genuine appreciation for teaching and developing others. Incredibly friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Classes are set up well and you are never pushed beyond what you can do. My favorite thing is Kru Dan's personal attention to his students and tailoring his instruction to each individual's learning methods. You not only want to get in better shape at Mayid, you want to become a better person. read more
