Hands down best gym in LA / Simi Valley Area. The Muay Thai is on point. JiuJitsu coaching and competition is exceptional. All the coaches are elite. What's more, the coaches compete and consistently win competitions. It's nice to have coaches who back it up. A+++++

Coach Kris is the man. We appreciate the coaching style that's firm, kind and encouraging to our sons that our new to MMA. GTA is truly a family style business and we love it when Bolt is there, such a friendly pup and I think should be added to the GTA gear. The Saturday classes I find the most interesting because adults and kids share the space and some how it all works well.

Great hospitality, amazing coaching and an excellent community! I've been training here for about 5 months now and I've learned so much in such a short amount of time. Everyone there has been very helpful and encouraging! I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to learn martial arts!

When my husband said he found GTA, I was curious but clueless on what I was getting myself into with him. I was scared to start but finally showed up. We have been looking for a community that is welcoming and have driven mindsets. Well we found that place. Coach Rob and Coach Kris is amazing to say the least. We feel apart of a family but also feel supported by impeccable people. My daughter, husband and I are grateful for this team! My daughter is building her confidence and strength which means the world to us. Five months in and have a long way to go but love learning and growing with the Academy. Can't wait to have our son start with us. Oh and no longer clueless because everyone is helpful when you keep showing up, trying your best.

Our son Brody started at Gooch Training Academy when he was 5. He will be turning 9 soon, and sending him to GTA has been the best decision we've made for him so far. He has learned discipline, a high level of self-confidence, mental awareness and also enjoys his various sessions of Jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, Wrestling and Boxing, which has given him an all-around skill of self-defense. Coach Rob and Coach Kris are skillfully amazing instructors by teaching the various types of kids and adults the tools they need to climb within the sports. They display an overall fairness to all, whether you are a newcomer or a long-time member. If you want your child to acquire a skill for self or as a sport, GTA is the best place! If your child is being bullied or may be lacking self-confidence, GTA is the place! If you're an adult who wants to get in shape or add a positive flare to your life, GTA is the place! From basic training to tournaments, GTA is the place! Positive atmosphere, great vibes, and friendly staff on a consistent basis from day 1, GTA is forever priceless and definitely worth it!

My son has been going there for a little over a year and it's the best thing ever. He's only 8 and has always been the youngest kid in his group but the biggest in size and would get picked on because kids just thought he was bigger than what he really is. Coming to Gooch he's learned how to talk people down and control his temper. But I love that it also teaches him discipline and in the event that he ever would need to use it (and I hope he never does) he knows how to defend himself. All of the instructors are very good with the kids and the hands on training is the best.

I can confidently say that after close to 8 months of continuously training at GTA that I have never felt more welcomed and honored to have a fight family at this facility. I came in as a fresh student knowing no knowledge of fighting/self defense and upon arriving on my first day of their 9 am Muay Thai class, immediately I was welcome by Coach Kris, (one of the Mauy Thai instructors) and going through the training, I fell in love with the sport and art of fighting that I can genuinely say I will continue to strive to learn and grow more. Coach David, Coach Kris and Professor Rob do a phenomenal job of teaching and allowing all hobbyists/fighters and those alike to strive. Here's to a great gym and an even better family!

I love the GTA atmosphere they are very family oriented and look out for each other I've been training there several months and couldn't ask for a better gym!!

It's been about 10 months since I started training at GTA and the energy here is amazing! Every coach is always looking forward to helping you improve. If you're any to begin your journey in combat sports and you live in the valley, join the GTA family! Top tier gym.

Don't be fooled by their friendly faces. Two quite dangerous weapons are pictured here. Master and apprentice.

I have learned lethal techniques here. The mysterious nature of martial arts is elucidated by the masters of the unarmed techniques of ultimate power resident at this school. Become a warrior.

They were firm when needed, patient, and always willing to help my son throughout the class. What stood out to me the most was the culture of teamwork and support. Several of the kids went out of their way to help my son, and it was great to see the older students taking an active role in keeping the younger kids engaged, attentive, and included. I currently have my son Giovanni enrolled and we don't plan on going anywhere-EVER lol. I've done martial arts for a couple years so I have a pretty good idea what to look for.. these days "some" Martial Arts places treat your kid like a car payment: 8,12 and 15 month contracts plus more extra's like large cancellation fee's. I went 7 different martial locations through SFV and they all have the same carefree script plus exact crazy monthly pricing. After reading reviews I finally found Master Sam and his team at FKMA and automatically feel in love with how everything was ran. First day walking in I had an hour conversation with Giovanni in his office not even talking about martial arts .. more about Giovanni's past, present and where he would like to go in the future!!! His approach is amazing he wants your child to flourish inside and outside his classes with grades, family and friends just life in general. Shit! After the first day I walked out learning something as a parent ..he really is a awesome man.... now to his kick ass staff! Nadia Master Sam's daughter I met only a handful of times but she's a total sweetheart. AMANDA, ANDREA & NICK are perfect additions to the classes ALL BLACK BELTS they're not there to watch your kid throw lazy kicks and punches. You better come correct with the 2 ladies cause you will get called out lol this places stresses "doing it right". No push overs here trust me when I say your kid will learn and have fun doing it. Bottom line been here for a while coming 3 sometimes 4 times a week (when we can) and wouldn't change a thing. Master Sam even switched up the times later for parents to make it easier to bring your child after school and work - 4:30pm and 5:30pm sessions! Brought my 4 year old some here and at the time I thought it was a really martial arts studio taught by a real martial artist. Boy was I wrong. I guess anyone can open up a martial arts business and start handing out belts Willy nilly. Not only is Lincoln not actually trained in MMA (which is what he is attempting to teach), but this school isn't affiliated with any official martial arts organizations including any MMA organizations. But don't ask him any questions about why that is, because you will absolutely get your wrist slapped and then your child will inevitably be punished in one form or another. My son was in class grappling with another child, when the other kid knocked my child's TWO front teeth loose. Lincoln's response to this was literally a smile and then NOTHING more. As a former martial artist myself and as a parent, I would expect that he would take both kids aside to address how this happened and what kind of safety precautions they can take in the future to prevent future incidents like this. None of that happened, instead he immediately pushed us into the next age group (in order to separate us from the other family) with no warning or reason, not to mention my son wasn't even the right age for that group yet. Once we were moved to the new group (that just so happened to meet on different days and times as the previous group, completely disrupting our schedules and turning our lives upside down) that's when I really saw this place for the sham and charade that it is. Parents are dropping off their multiple children at 3 and leaving them there unsupervised until 6pm. Children of all ages from 6-17 years old. Complete and total chaos of about 10 - 25 unsupervised children literally running around, throwing things at each other, physically fighting and screaming, VAPING in the bathroom, and so much more, all while a "class" is in session. Lincoln has no interest in enforcing the discipline and respect elements of martial arts in this space and these parents are treating his space like a drop off birthday party. To add insult to injury, my carpooled with a friend's daughter there. She was under my care. She stepped out of class to pee, but didn't lock the door because she's five and was afraid she wouldn't be able to get out. While she was in there a fully grown teenage boy walked in on her, made eye contact, fully saw her, and THEN PROCEEDED TO WALK INTO THE BATHROOM AS OF SHE WASN'T THERE. I immediately got up and told him to get out. When I brought up this issue to Lincoln his response was to tell the kid, and I quote "c'mon dude. You know better than that." And then turned to me and said "she's so little, it's not really a big deal." I probably should have pulled my son right there and then, but I didn't want to take something away from him because the adult teaching it has NO RESPECT for little girls and women's bodies and right to privacy. Lincoln - Thank you for teaching us that we are still second class citizens to chauvinists like you and that we will always need to fight for our rights. But alas, I did not pull my son. It wasn't until the drug dealer problem became more than I could ignore and the safety of my children was now at risk. Since he doesn't offer parking, we have to find parking wherever we can (which is not easy). Many times we had to walk by a drug dealer that was doing his drugs, selling, and getting into very heated altercations with others. This became very scary and when I brought it to Lincoln's attention he brushed it off. I followed up asking him to maybe see if his landlord could possibly offer parking so that we can walk safely with our young children into his business to give him our money. His response to me was to tell me "you have no problem asking questions. You're the only one who complains. You don't have to park there." To which I responded "I actually do have to park there." As I was responding with those words he turned his back to be and waved his hand as if to dismiss me and my concerns. It was an incredibly rude thing to do, and very out of line of what someone modeling respectful behavior should be doing. For me that was the straw that broke the camels back. I WILL NOT have someone that my son looks up to and that I pay disrespecting me, especially in front of my children. Disrespectful, negligent, chauvinist, ableist, and complete and utter fraud as this man doesn't even have a black belt in jujitsu.... Yet somehow he's qualified to hand them out. Maybe I should open up a medical school and start handing out medical degrees... I'm sure I'd make a killing.
