If you are lucky enough to have landed on Grout Pros' NYC Google listing, please do yourself an…read moreimmediate favor: stop stressing, end the analysis paralysis, step out of the panic loop and contact Elizabeth and Daniel ASAP. The universe is positively intervening in a way you cannot even fathom right now. I say this because I was YOU less than 48 hours ago. My nightmare started when I hired a "contractor" through TaskRabbit with 600+ five-star reviews to fix and paint a peeling bathroom window along with some regrout touch-ups. Straightforward, right? Well, on Day 2 at 6pm on a Thursday, less than 72 hours before my guest's early Sunday arrival, he scurried away mid-job and left the window's wood and metal frame in worse condition than when he started. He used a chemical paint remover that compromised the surface, then left when things got complicated. No referral. Just a "sorry" and out the door. Now I had less time, a worse problem, and no clear path forward. Enter NYC Grout Pros. Elizabeth initially told me they were booked until Monday, which I understood, but once she heard my timeline, she led with empathy and assured me she and Daniel would make Friday work. It felt like a miracle! I went to sleep knowing I wasn't alone. Friday, Daniel arrives around 2:30pm, and what struck me immediately was how supported he was by his team. One of his colleagues--on THEIR day off--came by just to deliver tools and materials he'd need. That level of coordination and sacrifice, especially under pressure, is rare. What Daniel walked into was no longer simple. The wood had been compromised, sanding was difficult, and the timeline ruled out conventional approaches. He assessed everything calmly and made a critical call--the current path wouldn't get this done in time. At 5pm on a Friday, without hesitation, he drove nearly two hours through West Village traffic to his shop in Westchester to custom cut wood for my window and source the right materials to actually solve the problem--not just patch it. He then drove back into Manhattan, arriving around 8:30pm, and worked until 11:30pm. And, true to his word--came back by 10am the next morning, on a Saturday--HIS day off--and a day where he had meaningful personal commitments, and still worked until everything was completed to the highest standard. The Result: the window was fully repaired, the grout issues were smoothed out, and the bathroom was spotless/usable. I was able to keep my promises to my guest because of Daniel. But what impressed me most is who Daniel is as a person. He is not only exceptional in his craft--he is an even more exceptional human being. I was under pressure. I had already lost time and money. I was dealing with someone else's poor judgment. And Daniel kept reassuring me: he was on my side, he wouldn't abandon the project, and he would get it done. Although I was a complete stranger--one of millions of people in NYC--he treated me like a longtime friend he was willing to move mountains for. And boy did he. He never made me feel like a burden or like he'd been stuck with a bad job. There was also a generosity of spirit that permeated his work. My partner had ?'s about installing new flushmounts, and Daniel took the time to coach him through an example so we'd feel confident doing it ourselves. One micro-moment spoke volumes. After hours of driving and working late, he still cleaned thoroughly--bathroom spotless, tools neatly placed. As we walked out, he noticed dust from his boots in the hallway and instinctively dropped down to clean it, saying he didn't want to leave the building that way. That level of care--at the very end of a long day--is not something you can fake. I also appreciated how highly he spoke of his team, especially Elizabeth. It's clear they are a close, experienced group that genuinely support one another--and it shows. What they did for me went far beyond fixing a window. Hearing "I got you" felt like 1000 pounds lifted off my shoulders--I've found my dream creative partners and I know I can trust them with any project moving forward! And so should you!

They always do a great job for us. Have used them multiple times and never had a problem.read more

Tile Express had one in their ShowRoom ...(but had the wrong size rough-in) so Chris went through all their resources to locate the right one. Company after company supply sites showed none in stock. But Chris went way above & beyond, and was relentless with making MANY calls directly to the various warehouses until he was able to get one delivered within a couple of days!! He really didn't have to do that....it is a very busy store. He was also able to secure a good price! I am so thrilled... They have an impressive showroom and a vast array of tiles, cabinets, accessories, etc. When I am ready to begin re-tiling my bathroom, that will be my go-to place. I recommend them 100%.

Chris and Yul are the perfect team and can help you with any tile project you have--from helping you concept your idea to designing your space the way you want it. The prices are also good at Express Tile, and they will try to work with you on quantities so you don't have a lot of extra or unneeded product left over. Note that parking can be a bit of a hassle, as the lot is small and exiting can be painful because of the store's proximity to a crazy intersection. But, other than that, you will definitely find what you need at Express Tile.

First impressions are lasting ones, and Joe of Marino tile left us with an amazing experience from…read morethe minute we walked into his store. When my wife Gia and I walked into the Marino shop, we were at a loss for the type of countertops we wanted. Our home kitchen space is small and difficult to work with due to its age... lots of uneven plaster walls and brick. Gia had always wanted a single source, counter to ceiling style backsplash. Not only would it be a focal point of the space, but it would help in making it look larger overall. After looking through Marino's wide selection of products, Gia and I never once felt pressured or rushed. In fact, the owner Joe took his time with us and answered all of our questions regarding durability, installation process, availability timeline, product warranty... pretty much the pros and cons of all the products he sells and installs there. After a few trips to his showroom, and his professional opinion, Gia and I chose Cambria Delamere Quartz. Joe spent a few hours in our home to measure out each section precisely, so when it came to installation time, he'd be prepared. And prepared was EXACTLY how he returned. Joe and Manny, painstakingly went over every corner, angle, and mitered edge, to make our Delamere quartz look as if it was cut out of a single piece!! And in a home built in 1899, that's no easy feat. He even helped properly measure, center, and bore out the anchors we needed for our new range hood! And he did it all with a smile on his face :) Joe is friendly, knowledgeable, and provides very fair pricing, especially considering that he's a true craftsman. In a world where everything is becoming more and more impersonal and prefabricated, this family owned and operated business was hands down, THE BEST decision we made for our 2nd floor renovation. Don't even take our word for it... just visit Marino tile and see for yourself.

Never did get to put up the pictures. Here they are. Recommend this business highly for all of your…read moreceramic tile needs.

But, we found out our old laminate flooring was buckling due to a slow dishwasher leak, had to be repaired badly. The floor led to other problems and those problems led to a gut job. Let's talk about tiles. Sam's is small but has a lot of merchandise to choose from. Carmine (owner?) was all ears when we selected brand new Subway tiles for our new job plus he gave us some aesthetic advice (thank you Carmine, but we have a style already). One of the things hubs and I appreciated the most was that even when we questioned him about whether or not we should get an extra box of floor tiles to add to our existing 7 boxes we'd purchased back in April '21, for that "just in case" moment, Carmine wasn't hard-selling us into buying another case of tiles. Nothing but nice things to write about. And may I mention, Carmine was awesome.

Bill listened to my concerns and immediately began to educate me on how to determine if the floor was installed the right way and how I would be able to correct what had been done. Bill was genuinely interested in making sure I had the right information about tiles, the installation process and different techniques to get the best results. In the end, I had to remove everything down to the subfloor but I am so happy that I did because I will now avoid years of continuously having to repair a bad floor. Bill worked with me to pick the best floor tile for the design and price I wanted. He also met with my new contractor to make sure the floor would be installed correctly. It was such a good experience as a customer that I went back to get my counter and backsplash tiles. Bill was able to get all the products to me lightening fast and the quality was even better than I expected. Bill's expertise, compassion and great sense of humor helped me get through what started out as a nightmare. I now have a kitchen that I absolutely love! He and Carmine earned both my trust and my loyalty. I cant imagine working with anyone else in the future.
