Now i'm sure this place is triple wielding rental supplies because it's on a gulf island and can carry less inventory then its mainland counterparts; therefore allowing it to be an all-in-one mecca of awesome. Event supplies AND tool rentals. In. ONE. Shop. In my line of work - this place is a dream come true. It would make event planning a total breeze - cutting down what is now four-five cross town stops into one convenient place. Dear Rental Shop, open a store in Vancouver!! Pretty please? Not only do they have pretty much everything under the sun (high chair and/or crib? Helping out the forgetful family types = charming), the prices are totally reasonable and the service is super friendly. After two disappointing rental experiences in Vancouver, I had lugged my project over to SSI to see if I could raid the parental's tool shed. When they didn't have what I was looking for, The Rental Shop saved the day. The belt sander I grabbed was $25 for the day. How did it compare to the similarly priced sander from A&B in Van? No comparison. This bad boy had the project done in a QUARTER of the time due to the savvy tips from the service gents, the PROPER sand paper selected and a decent machine. Needless to say - I like this place. I'd like it more if it was in Vancouver. But the extreme degree of jealousy i'm feeling, just means this totally deserves its five star status.

Very kind, helpful and accommodating staff that dropped off the machine. Something that could improve the service is offering a longer tutorial on how to use the equipment that people could choose to pay for if they needed. We received a quick tutorial as they only have so long to drop off the equipment, but we would have paid for additional instruction if that was an option. Overall good experience.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the equipment is well-maintained, clean and in great shape. I rented some heavy duty garden equipment to rip up my yard and start from scratch. While I was dropping off and paying for my rental, a guy walked in off the street and asked if he could rent a hand tool for some plumbing work he was doing, he brought his pipe with him and asked if they had a walk-in rate. The guy at the counter handed him the tool, he did his thing right there in the front of the store and handed it back. He charged him a tiny fraction of the hourly rental rate. I highly recommend these guys. Not sure about the other locations but the place on Venables is top notch.

OK so we had an epic toilet clog in our downstairs bathroom. Instead of buying an $80 snake or…read moreauger we went and got advice from a very knowledgeable person who recommended we RENT a $12 tool. He showed us how to use it and an hour later we unclogged the nastiness in our pipes which included leaves. How did those get in there?!?!? Super happy we didn't have to call in a plumber or buy an expensive tool.
