The station platform is elevated though not completely enclosed. It's going to be cold cold cold in the winter months here! Joyce-Collingwood is on the Expo line of the SkyTrain. It opened in 1985 and has had a number of improvements and redesigns since. The station is step free with both an elevator on one end and escalators on both ends. It has the usual ticket vending machine in the ticketing lobby and turnstiles to ensure that all patrons are paying their way. The platform is an island with the tracks on each side and an overhead monitor on each to indicate when the next three trains are due. I did not notice any audio announcements. Being on the Expo line, it's direct from here into downtown Vancouver. The station is between 29th Avenue (towards Waterfront) and Patterson (towards King George or Production Way-University). It is one of the busiest stations on the network with a bus station at ground level and both times I visited, there were plenty of people coming and going or connecting to buses. The station itself was clean with no trash or litter though the ground outside could use some picking up. [Review 20862 overall - 39 in British Columbia - 1846 of 2023.]

Not sure why they didn't just build the platform such that it straddles the road. Oh well. At least there's a dedicated pedestrian crossing. The station is good for getting to places such as Superstore, Canadian Tire, and Walmart. Oh yeah, there's a government liquor store nearby too.

It is in Fare Zone 2 and has side platforms, so doors open on the right. The station was completed in 1985 and received an extensive remodel/rebuild in 2012 when it opened as part of the Shops at New West center. Shops at New West has restaurants, supermarket, a cinema and lots of retail spending opportunities. There is a bus stop here with connections on a dozen or so lines. Escalators and elevators are here as the station is fully handicapped accessible. It is above ground and somewhat protected from the elements. Nice strip mall set up directly surrounding a SkyTrain station. Really rare to see in this city,…read morebut they did a good job. Parking is available in the lot below the building. The place consists mostly of small businesses, with easy SkyTrain platform access. There's a bit of everything in there, such as banks and fast food. There's even a supermarket (Safeway) attached. My favourite part is the caged (suicide-proof) bridge that crosses over the tracks. Great for watching the trains go by while reflecting on life.

Really busy SkyTrain station at the intersection of Commercial and E Broadway…read more Even though they've done quite a few improvements over the years including the addition of a 3rd platform, this thing still gets seriously packed during rush hour, when the hordes all pile in trying to get into or out of downtown. I still get confused here and there trying deal with the Expo line. Be sure to follow the signage. One peculiar thing I've noticed is that people will zip through the train (in one side and out the other side) to skip to an adjacent platform. Haven't figured out what they're trying to do just yet. Guess I shouldn't really be complaining. Busy is good.

Finally had a chance to see what they are planning to implement moving forward on the new fare 'gate' system, and I will hold judgement till they are fully implemented, as I see a log jam that will be happening during peak hours. This station is a corridor, as it has an intersecting station (Commercial) where the Millenium line comes in. Also in the busy weekday mornings people line up on Broadway to catch the B-Line to UBC. The amount of people that come through here is (for Vancouver standards) a lot! This area was definitely a lot darker back in the day, with people begging for money around the station, and the normal small drug deal around the corner, with the addition of the Millenium line brought some new businesses that cleaned up this place. The station does look it's age on the old Broadway side but it's an important station for Transit. During the peak hours just remember your lining up, whether it's for the next train, or the next bus, just remember to try to be couteous to others, and let others off first before you go charging up onto your transit option!

We walked to the station. The station was clean. It had fare gates. Side note: The Seattle area light rail system doesn't have fare gates. Payment is on an honor system and fare ambassadors are rare. Sleeping homeless people don't get kicked off the train either. Tap-to-Pay and ticket kiosks were available payment options. We got first dibs on seats because it's a southern terminus station. The train was packed by the time we reached downtown.

Basically show up and take the train out of Richmond. There is some neat mirror artwork on the platform level. Something to look at while using the escalators. Speaking of escalators, my one complaint is that the escalator only goes up. Anyone heading down has to take the stairs. With that said, I'm sure there's an elevator somewhere.

Station inside the NE side of Central Park…read more The station is pretty short. It can only be accessed from the W side of Patterson. The theme is still from the original "futuristic" Expo 86. Honestly the station would've been more useful closer to Boundary. But oh well. Somewhat does the job.

Station along what is now part of the Expo line in New Westminster. Not much here unless one is…read moregoing to Royal Columbian Hospital, or the so called Brewery district. Except there aren't really any breweries here (other than ABC which is closer to Braid station). The old Labatt brewery is long gone and replaced by condo towers. The one thing that sticks out is that there is a nice elevated bridge that goes over Brunette, such that one isn't forced to go all the way down to street level then forced to walk all the way back up the hill, which I'm sure makes life much easier for some. The platform itself has this funky wheel sculpture. Wonder if it actually spins. Too bad it's between the platforms in a restricted area. Can't check it out without getting zapped or arrested. The other thing that is a bit weird (not sure if this applies to other stations) is that at night, one entire platform shuts down. In other words, trains use the same platform for both directions, despite what the "regular" signage says. The only way to know what's going on is to look at the screens on the platform and ignore the signage.
