This will be my go to place in the future for automotive electrical issues. My vehicle went salvage status because I was hit from behind in Dec 2016 and since my vehicle has a lot of miles and I chose to repair it myself their insurance cashed me out. Part of the salvage process is to pass a light and brake inspection and well my vehicle failed both. I know how to replace brake parts and that was no issue. The rear brake bulbs were not illuminating, but the filament was good and the fuse was good. After searching in the area I settled on Rene's since the reviews signaled that this place was reasonably priced and competent. When I showed up immediately the mechanic dropped what he was doing and listened to the issue. In under two minutes he diagnosed that it was losing ground. In under 20 minutes each side was repaired and illuminating. I was pleased that the cost was only $45, which helps leave me with plenty more money for bodywork. I highly recommend Rene's if your vehicle is having electrical issues. read more

Outstanding service and work, I was very pleased with this shop. My parent's older Lexus ES300 had an electrical issue with the motor cooling fans not turning on. We have a great mechanic we trust, but there was a weird issue he wasn't able to figure out, he recommended Rene's Electric and we brought it to them. The owner was fantastic, she booked our car right away and got her main mechanic on it. After a short time we got a call that the car was ready. Price was very reasonable and the work was fantastic. The car had been in an accident and the head lights, and wires underneath were damaged and the horn wasn't working. The Dealership wanted to charge us an arm n leg to get the wires replaced up to $1200 to remove the bumper. I was referred by Value Auto Alex to bring our Ford here for electrical work. I am glad I did, the repair only cost us $100 and was done in the same day. I was recently experiencing some electrical problems on my car.Nothing serious really,just a power window that wouldnt go up or down.Apparently the panel housing that also contains the window power switch had come loose over time and some wires had broken off. Looks like someone before tried to splice some wires together going to the window power switch.Judging from the quality of the work it looks like the person was either a "shade tree mechanic" or a total amatuer. This was my work car so I didnt want to spend alot of money on the repairs.I didnt have any ideal of where I should take my car to have it fixed.This was before my "Yelping" days so I called Victor of Eddie's Tires and Mufflers to see who they reccomended for auto electric work.Please see my review for Eddie's Tires and Mufflers. Victor,the shop manger at Eddie's Tires and Mufflers stated that Rene's Auto Electric is the place to go! He said that they are honest,reputable,and will not rip you off! Well, the guys at Eddie's Tires and Mufflers operate thier business on the same high standards so thier word is "gold" with me! Rene's Auto Electric is not readily visible from the street.You have to turn into an alley and drive a short distance untill you see the shop on the right hand side. I pulled up,met Rene,described my problem,went up the street for some lunch,and by the time I returned the repairs had been completed.He also fixed and sealed my power window panel assembly. The bill came out to be only $40 and now I can roll my windows down! This shop can perform repairs on both foreign and domestic automobiles. One of my power windows stop working. I went to yelp and I found several reviews on Rene's Auto Electric. I went to go to check it out. I met Rene seem very helpful and friendly and professional. My bill was about $180. I'm pretty sure most other places would have charged me a hundred or 200 more. I had work done previously at other places and that seems to be the norm. The work was all done in one day. He handed me my receipt and guaranteed his work for a year. The work is done in a small shop in a side street in Chula Vista off Broadway.If you're looking for a posh upscale place this is not it. I purposely waited to review Rene and his shop to make sure the work wasn't a short term fix, and I am not disappointed. The first problem I had Rene address was a battery drain problem. I dropped the truck off at about 9am on a sat and he was able to diagnose the problem and fix it by about 4pm the same day. Bad AC relay. Tab was $160. And as i mentioned before it was the legitimate solution as I have had no problems since. A second follow up problem I had was that the horn didn't work. While the solution is a story, to sum up the fix was less than 2 minutes, he shook my hand and had me on my way. Definitely no complains here. Would deal again with electrical problems. read more

Bought a new to me car. You think you are checking everything out until you forget to beep the horn. Well, the horn didn't work. I didn't want to run up a $800 charge at a the Dealership. I was referred to Rene's by Juan's Auto Repair (also highly rated on Yelp) and Rene's did not disappoint. The small shop is located near the corner of Main Street and Broadway - it's behind the Salvation Army store. Yes, it's an industrial area, but I took my car there by myself (female) and I survived. Patty who manages the office is great! She's personable and friendly. The best part of all, Rene charged me $75 (one hour charge) to fix the horn! Apparently it was disconnected - so much for the 29 point inspection by AutoNation, right? Rene's takes credit cards which is also convenient. After explaing to the owner Rene, what the problem the dealership said it had, he asked me to take the car in. Half hour later, my car was fixed. I went to Rene's Auto Electric after reading the reviews here. I have a 2003 that had drivers side window stuck down. The cable that pulled it up had frayed and broke. It was a untypical San Diego day, cold and rainy but off my daughter and I went to find the shop. Long story short Rene's shop was hard to find but so worth the search. He got me a part and it was cheaper than the dealer and was available for delivery. He told me it would be a few hours. I returned 1.5 hours later and they were doing the finishing touches and best of all it was under $200 which would have been the price of the dealer part. I went to Rene's on the advice of a friend. I have to admit at first I wasn't sure of whether-or-not I'd go there based on how the shop looked: tucked into an alley way in the middle of other industrial shops etc.., but I was very happy I went there anyway!!!! The work was done quickly, on time, and in the manner in which it was stated that it'd be accomplished. The total came to 80 to repair a short that knocked out my blinkers and brake lights. Also, I was made welcome at the shop. And best of all all were honest and trustworthy. Reminded me of the old days where a hand shake was all that was needed. I'll go back to Rene's from now on. I drove down from the OC to Chula Vista because it's always cheaper to get work done on a car in SD than OC. Rene fixed my car power window quickly and at a good price. They had to remove the left rear door panel and replace the window regulator to get it working and it cost me $177.96 total. The window works great now. I dealt with Jesus and he looked at my problem and in 5 minutes told me what needed to be done. $65 and 1 hour later my crooked headlight bulb and broken high beam were fixed. Dealer would've charged me $150. I left my car at the shop, walked across the street to 24 hour fitness, deadlifted 400 lbs. and came back to a fully fixed car! The driver side power window stop working on my Honda Civic EX 2002. I was looking for a place in the south bay area that offered power window repair and thanks to the reviews in yelp I found Rene's Auto Electric in Chula Vista, I went around 4:00pm on a Monday and explained the problem to Rene, he looked at my car and gave me a quote of 160 parts and labor and 1 year warranty. I made arrangements with him to work on the car the next day. I took the car early that morning around 9:00am by 12:00pm same day he had finished the job, I went and I pick up my car; he delivered it as promised and within the original quote, the bill came out to $156.24, he even saved the old part for me to see it. I was very impressed by his professionalism and the way he conducts business he is honest, fast and reliable, simply the best Auto Electric in Chula Vista and the south bay Otay Mesa area. I rarely write reviews but the interaction I had with this shop deserves one. Some of the dashboard lights (battery, parking, and door/trunk) on my car are flashing from time to time. I took it to Rene's as they had very good reviews. Pattie and her husband had the car for two days trying to ascertain the source of the problem. Though they were not able to ascertain the problem, they did not charge me for the time. Pattie and her husband who own the shop deserve high praise for their transparency and integrity. They even dropped me off close to my home and delivered the car back to me close to the home - a bonus! Don't hesitate to visit this auto shop if you have electrical issues. Both the shops that he recommended are closed on Saturday & Sunday so I searched yelp and found this shop with good reviews. Called the shop, gave me direction and brought my car. Reviews turned out to be true. Rene is honest, charges are reasonable, will give you option and help you save on the repair. He was able to fix my car and even waited for me even if it is already past 5 pm. My regulator recently broke and I went onto google trying to find a cheap repair that was close by with great reviews. These guys popped up in the top five on the search through yelp. All the reviews were good and the prices sounded nice as well. I called they took me same day had some trouble trying to find it since it shares an address with four other locations but once you go past the parking lot off broadway and find it they were polite and fixed my window in about an hour charged me only 134.00 total included tax part cost and only 50 bucks labor, I also met Rene he's a nice guy and gave me cards to two other honest mechanics if I have non electrical issues with my car. This was a great price considering I just had my other windows regulator replaced for what is considered a good price at 224.00. I definitely recommend them and I will absolutely go back. read more
