Great food and a very interesting and fun menu. Four of us ate there; all of us ordered something different; we all went away contented. The staff was very friendly and the boxes of trivial pursuit cards were a great way to make our meal even more enjoyable. Go there! read more

Rendezvous Diner - American Near Me - Greer, Arizona

Rude upon arrival, didn't even stay to eat because the waitress was so nasty. There is no "wait to be seated sign", so never having been here, my family and I cautiously walked inside, as we didn't know if it was a "seat yourselves" place or what. The patio outside was about 3/4 full and inside about 1/4. As we came in towards the cash register I asked a waitress "Do we seat ourselves? We've never been here before." She gave me an exasperated, "No...you WAIT to be seated. How many?" I answered. "Name?" I gave it. "Go wait outside and I'll come get you." Umm, no thanks. I had heard great things about the desserts here but wouldn't give this place a dime after that encounter. Absolutely no reason to be snarky and rude especially when your business thrives on out-of-town dollars. We had lunch at Molly Butler Lodge instead and it was delicious. They will get my service every time I'm back in Greer. read more

Definitely THE place to go for breakfast in Greer. Lovely, authentic diner atmosphere with friendly staff. The food is very reasonably priced (as opposed to other places in town!), and is DELICIOUS. The pancakes are so fluffy they almost levitate, and the country fried steak is definitely a must. Oh, and wear stretchy pants because the portion sizes are more than generous. If you go anywhere else, you'll be missing out. read more

The name of the restaurant is very inviting, but the food served to me on Friday, August 3d, 2012 was totally inedible - oversalted cheese and canned mushrooms omelet, scraps of home fries, unbuttered cheap english muffin, a single square serving of jelly. No real cream for the coffee - either milk or the coffee-mate. Totally disappointing attempt of breakfast and no one even tried to make it up. We just paid and left the unfinished food at the table. No recommendation here. read more

Great food and great service. They were wonderful with my todldler. Country bennidect yum!

The only reason this review does not have a 1 star is because the food is decent. The first negative aspect upon my recent visit to this restaurant is the fact that despite many open tables my family and I were forced to wait in the cold while they "prepared" our table. The food is slightly over priced and they do charge an automatic 22% gratuity for parties of 6. And from this experience I have found they do count a baby whom did not order any food as a person in order to charge this. Upon asking for our coffees to-go we found they charged us an extra fee in order to get our coffee to-go. So pretty much charging for two separate orders of coffee something that was not mentioned to us nor shown on the receipt but upon getting $10 less back was explained. To add our waiter to say the least was rude numerous times. Customer service like this is really disappointing for my first time experience here in Greer. read more

Went here twice on our stay and the food at lunch was good, with the peach cobbler being excellent. Families beware, owner Pauline seems to have some strange disdain for children. I'm certain if she could make restaurant only for people above the age of ten she would do so. Plenty of other negative reviews talking about her attitude towards little ones. Breakfast was very greasy, my wife's omelette looking more like an oily crepe. Even saw one review where a waitress held a toddler while family ate, probably because the waitress was afraid of Pauline going nuts. Pauline reminds me of the "no soup for you" guy from Seinfeld. If you have small children be prepared for quite the experience. Who knows what happened in her life to give her this attitude towards young ones, but other than that seems to have a pretty good little mountain diner going for her! Hummingbirds galore, nice view from patio, and always seems packed with smiling tourists (the ones without little ones). read more

We stopped for pie and ordered one to pick up the next day when we picked up the apple pie it was still warm and had all we could do not to dig in! Their apple pie is so good! Next time we will try the strawberry rhubarb! Make sure to stop here when in Greer! read more

We stopped here for breakfast during the first day of our vacation. The food was greasy & gross. The service was slow & rude. The owner was really just a B word... Will NOT be back! read more

Stopped in this morning for breakfast and loved the atmosphere, we also loved our server (can't remember his name but he had an amazing mustache). Food was fairly priced, country fried steak needed more breading but no complaints about this place. Ask about their white trash options!!! read more

Stayed in Greer for an anniversary weekend. Being late Winter, not much open to choose from, so we stopped in here (had never been before). Loved the kitschy, fun and old time décor, placards, bottles etc. that decorate the place. Service was good, but the food was awesome! Dessert was awesome. We ended up eating breakfast there all three days we stayed. Highly recommend. read more

Here's another place that should have a negative star. My husband and and I stopped here today as I had heard they had amazing pies. We wanted a "to go" dessert. I was handed a menu and told to "pick from the yellow box" by a very brusque woman. So I ordered a peach cobbler and a brownie but asked that they not put the ice cream on it. I was told they don't sell the brownies without ice cream. What?!? I wasn't asking for a discount we just didn't want the ice cream. Very rude people indeed. Too bad they were so nasty as we would have gone back to eat and get another peach cobbler. read more

Great atmosphere, decor and service. A bit overpriced for what you get but then again you are in the middle of nowhere. $11,00 for a BLT and six onion rings and 7.50 for an English muffin with bacon egg and cheese . I was asked if I would like some ranch for the onion rings and said yes when the bill came came i was charged for the ranch. read more

Off the hook good...I wish they had breakfast this good in Phoenix. Make sure you go here if you are visiting Greer!

Great food , great service, great atmosphere. Highly recommend. Blackberry cobbler is the best. I ate here this time last year and I am glad I came back. Thank you Rendezvous Diner. read more

it isn't a trip to greer without a visit to rendezvous diner! either breakfast or lunch it is sure to please. the staff if awesome. my daughter loves cliff and the owner is as good hearted as they come. i've never had a bad meal and we would never go to greer with out stopping by! read more

Had lunch here. Ordered the special, a Navajo taco; fry bread with their home made baked beans, veggies, cheese and sour cream and a choice of red or green sauce. Oh yeah, also came with hot home make chips and salsa. It was delicious, but it gets better. Dessert was bread pudding. They use a cinnamon roll (no raisins) instead of bread and can be served with whipped cream and optional ala mode. My partner decided on a root beer float. What a find. The food was fabulous and the hummingbird feeders on the deck provided all the entertainment we needed. read more

Excellent soups, sandwiches and blackberry cobbler to die for.

Great food and service. My burger was perfectly cooked and my wife loved her soup.

I have been going to the Rendezvous Diner for 10 years for breakfast. Cliff is an awesome waiter and the food is always wonderful plus the coffee is a great way to start your meal. Last visit was 4th of July weekend. I had a short stack of the pancakes. Wow they are the best. Usually I get the bagel sandwich with green chilies but the pancakes hit the spot this time. I also got the blackberry cobbler to go as a treat for later. It was the most incredible cobbler I have ever had. read more

Excellent homemade pastries and soups. Very friendly staff.

I've been coming here for at least once a year or more for AZ's best fried chicken. Seariously, I touted to everone! Yesterday, sadly, it was nearly the worst! The fried chicken was reheated! I was told by a waitrest that it was cooked to order but I don 't know any chicken that cooks all the way through at 70 degrees. It was ice cold when I bit into the breast but was cooked through. Way better when cooked fresh, bit BAD when it wasn't. Such a shame! Watch kitchen nightmares and talk to the chief! These kind of places will fall in a matter of years. Especially since there is another up and comer in the area. I really hope they read this and get their act together. read more

We've been here several times and normally had a good experience. Not this time. Waitress set aside our order and it took an hour and twenty minutes to get food, all the while being told it was on its way. The table next to us came in 45 minutes after us, ordered, ate, paid and left and we still didn't have our meals. It was a busy weekend and everyone makes mistakes, but they didn't even so much as comp a lemonade after a 1 hour and 55 minute ordeal. First time in my life I did not leave any tip. Probably won't be back. read more

This was our first experience with this diner as well as our last. The food was terrible and the service was even worse. The only redeeming factor was the decor. read more

Good food, nothing fancy but well-prepared. Service is excellent. Fish and chips are great. An untraditional Navajo taco (on a fried flour tortilla) disappoints a tad from a one made with fry bread. All in all, a pleasant experience. read more

Great food, fun atmosphere and love the service!! The owner is fun to joke with, he has a very dry sense of humor which we appreciate. The location is perfect! read more

I went to this diner strictly based on all the rave reviews on Yelp. I would like to warn patrons with children to steer clear of this place. Our table had 2 adults and 3 children age 5,6 and 7. the waitstaff was extremely annoyed by our children because they dropped a handful of skittles from their vending machine on the floor. the waitress stated "you are gonna pick all those up". They were also annoyed at the kids looking at and daring to touch the kitschy items on the walls and the register counter. Waitress told the kids "only good children get a lollipop". i would think a place that caters to families might have a better tolerance of curious children. The food was average. The blackberry cobbler was average. I lived in Texas, so maybe I have higher expectations of cobbler, lol! read more

I had heard that the Rendezvous Diner was the place to go so last weekend, we decided to make that a stop while in Greer. Cute place but....... What a MISTAKE! The place was full but we got seated right away! It took the hostess quite a while to come ask us what we wanted to drink and seemed rather rushed. She was taking care of all the checks at the counter. While we were waiting - We watched her get "frustrated" with a customer who walked up and interrupted her "count" and told the customer she would have to wait. Seemed a bit rude to her... but to each his own. We were then waited on by a nice young man who took our orders and brought the soup right away. Once he delivered the meal, he asked if anything was needed and be brought more ranch to the table. My daughter had not yet started her meal at that point when she determined that the meal she ordered was not to her liking at all. No one came back - not one of them checked on us nor came in our The "hostess" then came by to pick up the empty plates and asked my daughter if she wanted a container for her meal. She told her that she really didn't like it - it was not what she was expecting at which the hostess just took the plate from her with no comment or offer. When the hostess brought the bill I asked her if she had removed the meal from the bill at which she started a barrage of "just cause you didn't like it doesn't mean you don't pay for it" I simply said that she should have asked if there was something else that she could have provided for her and at least the waiter should have come by to see how the meal was! Her response- "I asked him and he said he did ask - I believe him and not you! (no - he did not come back - he was slammed) "Just because you think the food is "gross" doesn't mean you don't pay for it" She was quite loud and drew the attention of the other patrons. I went outside the restaurant and spoke to our water about who the manager was as I wanted to complain about the situation. I was promptly told that SHE WAS THE OWNER! He quietly told me she had been yelling like that all day and he does that to him too - once she gets like that - you can't stop her. ( We were witness to her yelling loudly to the back to one of her employees to "get out here - we need you") Wow - not acceptable behavior for an "owner" I decided to not pay for that portion of the meal and went out to get cash which I left the amount due minus the cost of that one meal. When I returned, she grabbed the payment from my hand and screamed at the top of her lungs that I didn't have enough money and just because I think the food is "gross" - doesn't mean I didn't pay for it. Of course all the customers inside the restaurant was watching this. We proceeded to leave the restaurant. I stated, "we never said your food was gross - the rest of us liked our meal just fine - we just didn't like the one meal and asked for a substitution or a discount which you took offense to and started screaming. She then pointed her finger at my daughter and said - "look at you!" what ever that meant and said "don't come back here". NO worries there.............Like I said - the owner should know better and if she is a grouchy person and treats customers and her own employees like that she shouldn't be the one in charge This is the poorest exhibition of customer service at a restaurant that I have ever encountered in my life! My suggestion - when in Greer - enjoy the surroundings but ...... STAY AWAY FROM RENDEZVOUD DINER! read more

we had a bad experience with the diner and pets. it seems they are not that pet friendly even when sitting outside on the deck. after moving twice and dealing with a cranky staff we just left. staff was not overly friendly. too bad because the place looked really cute and quaint. read more

Ate at the Rendezvous a couple weeks ago. The owner was so rude to us that we will never go back again. We Love going to Greer A few times a year and luckily there are a couple other very good restaurant's in Greer. The food has always been so so, not great but the service is usually pretty good. We have always tried to give them business and enjoy the little quaint old diner feeling and always thought the gossip and arrogance of the owner and employees was funny. I was really excited to take a couple friends there and hang out for the parade for Greer Days and unfortunately the owners rudeness has made us and a lot of other people I know that will Never go back. I called earlier in the morning to ask if it is really busy before and during the parade since we have never been there for the parade. I asked Pauline the owner if we got there around 9:15 if it was possible to eat before the parade at 10am or is it way to busy? She said yes we can get you in and out. I hung up and thought wonder what that means because we want to eat and hang out to watch parade... So, I think ok well it sounds like we can get a seat and eat. It took a little longer to get there than expected so we arrived about 9:35. We got a seat out on the patio and waited in line to use the restroom and waited for menu's about 15 mins, no one was outside so I told my friends I would go inside and get the menus. I went in and asked for a menu and was told by one of the employees that they had saved a table for us but we didn't show up so they had to give it away. I said oh wow, I didn't know that a table was being saved for us, I'm sorry. Then Pauline proceeded to say very loudly in front of everyone that I do this EVERYTIME I come there...and she kept saying "I even told Cliff (the waiter) before we even got there that she knew I was going to do this". I am like "What is THIS?" I eat at this place maybe 2 or 3 times a year. I know for a fact I have NEVER called to make a reservation and just not showed or been late (I didn't even know you could make a reservation). I have No idea what she is talking about but if I called 5 years ago and she saved me a table without telling me & we showed up late or something OMG....let it go!! Also, I really appreciate them saving us a table but I did not ask for them to save a table or have any idea that was happening. If I did know then I would have called to let them know we would be late but I wasn't even sure what time we would get there for sure we just wanted to get there in time to eat and watch the parade. Very Strange Experience. She even verbally attacked me again outside on the deck in front of my friends and we were all like...WOW, that lady needs a vacation or something...? I told my friends 'The BEST thing about this situation is....IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN...because none of us will EVER go back!! read more

First off I would like to say that the Rendezvous Diner is a cute little place in a great little town. The food was good and portions were perfect. My low rating is based on the rude response from the waitress who charged us 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. I know that this is a common practice in many restaurants and agree this is fair. However, I was completely surprised that a 10-month old child who was seated in a highchair and was served 1 glass of water would be considered the 6th member of our party. When I questioned this, I was referred to a waitress who was running out the door, she very rudely states "this is our policy". She then came over to our table and very sarcastically said "it's only 20%". I am always willing to pay for great service and would have given our server the 20% he deserved, but I cannot believe we were FORCED to pay this because of my grandson receiving 1 glass of water. We love Greer and hope to have many more trips but the Rendezvous Diner will not be on our list of must visits. read more
