The owner has been arguing with customers, and it made it very uncomfortable, especially when I went to go pick up my order because once it was my turn, there was no customer service to be given. Just awkward silence. I was so uncomfortable I left not realizing I got one out of my two bags. I didn't even return. Wasn't worth tuning back to then become one of the victims to be yelled at. My partner loves this place so I keep coming back, but after the last three encounters with the same situation, it's not worth the drive from Fort Lauderdale all the way to Aventura. I'd rather find a small bakery nearby. It's unfortunate. The place has amazing food but I think everyone is stressed these days but when you own a place you have to keep your composure as your customers are your lifeline for your business to stay afloat. I don't think this review will make or break this bakery. They've obviously been here for a while, but definitely needs some refining when it comes to how you treat your customers. We tried this place twice on different months (once in person and once through DoorDash), and it was bad both times. The food and pastries were undercooked, which can make you sick. The pastries were wet and not fully baked, (both times!) and the food had no flavor. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.. There is no where in North County that makes such wonderful, crispy baguettes. Their chiabatta is excellent. They will make it for you if you call ahead a day or two or you can find it at the Carlsbad Farmers Market on Wednesday afternoons after 1:30 PM. Their pastries are reasonably priced and also delicious. Just wish the creme brulee was larger. Good cheesecake. And what I like is each item is sliced for one servicing so you can get a nice mix to share. The owner/baker is quite nice and the service is kind. I recommend this place for the pastries and the coffee. Their bread is delicious. The food on the other hand is a hit or miss and most of the time it's a miss. I like to go there for as I said, the pastries, croissants, bread with butter and jam. The coffee is absolutely delicious but having dinner/lunch there is, best avoided. I'm not sure if it's a matter of taste buds but the cuisine just doesn't fit for me. I haven't been able to find some thing on their menu that I truly enjoy in terms of an entrée. This is my place for croissants and, as far as I know, they are famous for them. They are always fresh and delicious. Especially I like chocolate croissants because they are made with real chocolate not Nutella or whatever else paste usually put in. I had breakfast-brunch couple times and was pleased. This should be a four star review, but for one thing. The food itself was good. But when we got our check, they'd included a gratuity/service charge on it which we almost didn't catch. On the bottom of the check are suggested percentages and also a blank tip line to add in a tip. That would have been double tipping! Now there were just two of us and there was no notice anywhere -- the menu, a sign, verbally -- that the tip would be automatically added in. In fact, we might have tipped more on our own. This just rankled. There was no separate lunch menu. So if you scroll past all the up scale entrees, you will find the quiches, crepes, and sandwiches, etc., for a lighter meal. I ordered a half sandwich and soup. It is not a combined item on the menu. When they brought the soup it was a much larger portion than I would have liked. The soup of the day was tomato. I had a few spoonfuls but didn't care for it. I did not tell the staff that. Figured I'd just pay for it anyways. On the other hand, the half sandwich I had was very, very good. On half a crusty French baguette, there was prosciutto, mozzarella cheese, tomato slices, and a basil pesto. The bread alone (it is a bakery) would be worth coming. And you can buy it by itself. My girlfriend ordered their Caesar salad which was a bowl of romaine with croutons and even a couple tomato slices. It was prettily presented in a square bowl. She could not decide on which salad dressing, so they nicely gave her a taste of 3 different ones on the side. Her favorite was the balsamic vinaigrette. It was not anything special, but was exactly what she was in the mood for... Btw, we came here thinking they were connected to the Oakland Park (Fort Lauderdale) restaurant of the same name. When we asked about that, we were told there was no connection. It's tiny inside, but we chose a table there for the air conditioning on such a hot day. There are a number of outside tables doubling the restaurant's capacity. There is parking in the lot in front which does get quite busy, but with a little patience you will find a spot. read more

Lovely late morning breakfast. Coffee and orange juice were delicious. We had the oatmeal with fresh fruit and an eggs benedicte. Excellent. The Canadian bacon and English muffin were "toasted" and the hollandaise was delicate, the eggs perfectly poached. The house potato side was delicious (I don't know what the seasoning was) even though they appeared unappetizing. The first time I visited Rendez-Vous Bakery was a few years ago when my hubby and I visited South Florida. I was so impressed by the food and service that I fell in love with the place. It was my first time trying mussels and I loved it! (FYI - moules (mussels & fries) marinieres dish is seved all you can eat on Mondays and Fridays.) The texture, taste and the fact that they were endless made this my go-to place for mussels when I moved here. They have two locations, one in Oakland Park and this one. I've never been to the one in Oakland Park but I hear their service and food is really good as well. It's a french bakery cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They offer patio seating at this location. The restaurant is small inside which adds to a cozy dining feel that feels like you're eating at home with your family. It's family owned and operated. The menu and wine list are extensive. I'm sure you'll find a dish or two that'll keep you coming back for more. Hubby and I decided to celebrate our 19th anniversary here with friends just a couple of months ago and we had a great time. We made reservations for a Sunday morning to sit outside. It was beautiful. We started with a bottle of wine, and then another and then another. Before you know it our tables were filled with laughter, great conversations, food, and wine. A friend I was with decided to pay for another friend's meal that not only showed up an hour late, but ended up on my credit card instead...not the end of the world, but when they try to charge you twice (meaning both my friend and I for the same amounts) and you catch on and say something about it only to have the employee try to blame you...and then when trying to correct the situation screws it up again...ugh, and then overhear the wait person trying to blame you again???! This place is right around the corner from where we live, so we decided to skip out on the NY-type deli/diners (Mo's and Bagel Cove) and check this place out instead. My boyfriend and I both ordered the custom omelette ($8.50 for 3 ingredients) which includes a croissant or french baguette. I opted for the croissant and it was heavenly. Flaky, sweet and perfect. What we figured would be a short stay, turned into a wait of over 30 minutes. Our waitress eventually came over to tell us that they completely forgot our order and that is was on its way, but that we could have a dessert on the house. Thankfully the food was good, and so was the dessert. Our waitress included not one free dessert but three! I could tell she was genuinely sorry for the mishap and we still ended up giving a decent tip. This is a small spot and you can drive by and miss it, authentic french cusine. The bagette is the real crusty bread that is soft and so good. I had their carrot soup which came in a beautiful bowl and was perfect for a chilly day. I also ordered the prosciutto, mozzarella and pesto on a bagette which came with fresh made potato chips. The dessert I ordered the creme brulee since they had me curious and not to mention it looked bao good which it was. Parking is free just know during lunch time it's does get packed. The staff only attended to us when they took our order and again when we were completely done with our food; disappointingly never once in between which I would have appreciated. We never even got our check brought to our table. After waiting ten minutes after they picked up our plates, we had to go to the counter to ask for our check & to pay our bill. Rendez-Vous is an authentic French restaurant located in Aventura. A friend of mine who raves about this place brought me here to pick up some pastries and freshly backed bread. The minute I entered I was greeted by the smell of fresh European bread and an ambiance of everything that is French. While I was waiting for my friends order, she bought me a chocolate croissant, and I treated myself a chocolate eclair. The Eclair was moist, chocolate-ty and delicious. The croissant was airy and mildly sweet. The second time I came, it was with the same friend, this time she coerced me to try their mushroom soup with a freshly made baguette. Onion soup was awful. Other food very, very fair. The sales tax in Miami Dade County is 7%. This restaurant individually taxes each food item 8% in addition to adding an 8% ( it should be 7%) tax at the end. This makes for a 16% sales tax!!! It should be 7%! How are they collecting an extra 9% tax?! When I inquired the answer was I guess it's the computer. There was NO offer to correct the issue. I came with no expectations to Rendez-Vous. Apparently it's thought well of as is the location in Oakland Park. But when we met up with friends for an occasion, I thought it to be just a bakery. It was a lot more than that. They had already served part of the group a bottle of white wine and clams. I tried and enjoyed both. We got our selves glasses of the house Cabernet(they couldn't offer us a bottle at that time for some reason). We ha a great table outside. It was on the sidewalk but was still not intrusive. Quite laid back actually. We talked for a while but finally ordered. I'm keeping carbs to a minimum these days so I got the sautéed shrimp. I subbed out the rice for some green beans. When arrived I was surprised how good it looked. They had spent time doing a presentation that related to the new shared ingredients of the plate. And wow it tasted great as well. I wasn't even that hungry but wolfed down my plate in no time. To my right there was a seafood crepe. I only had a couple bites, but it was fantastic as well. Over all a good experience. We had some delays at the end as we had to note that we would need a split check. I was surprised they hadn't offered actually. When I got my check it was a bit higher than I expected. Even the house wine charge seemed a bit out of the norm. But all in all it was a tasty experience. I think I a good chance I'll be back. I can only speak to their loaves of Baguets "French Bread" by far the closet to NY/NJ Bread as there is here in South Florida. They are always nice and if they are out its fresh in 20 minutes. Nice and cozy. We have come back several times. We love their Onion Soup and the boeuf bourguignon. The red wine they offer is good. I didn't love the patê though. The creme brûlée was very silky. We have bought from the bakery as well, and some groceries. The croissants are delicious, and the fleur de sel imported from France is very good. last time I went they didn't it, so I hope they bring it back some day. French fantastic fare! Render-Vous served up a variety of authentic cuisine in a comfortable setting and with nice pieces. Tucked away into a strip mall in the Aventura area, however away from the hustle and bustle or the mall, is this gem. The mall is right and parking can be interesting, however you soon will be dining with delight. The very friendly staff greeted us and helped us decide on options for both our palates. Plus, we were able to sample their wine and soup options before we committed. I had the salmon and it did not disappoint. Tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. I also enjoyed a cup of their butternut squash soup, and that sure was great as well. To top things off, the Rosé my wife and I had at the table made this French meal complete to the end. There are a few great French spots in our area and now we can add rendezvous to the list of great French go to delights! read more

Came today after maybe 1 year and what a pleasant surprise... they remodeled the inside of the restaurant and it is much better... simple and good! Service as usual in North Miami average.... Jimmy the owner did take good care of us and recommended some good things... we came for brunch and had very good croissants, crispy, fresh and great flavor!!! Next time will have the pain au Chocolat... looked delicious.... my son had a burger which we were both impressed, the meat was home grounded and cook temp perfect! Thick and juicy! Congrats!! I had a vegetable omelette that was very good and tasty... fresh ingredients used for sure! My wife had the spinach and cheese quiche and it was very good... maybe missing some crispiness but Jimmy told us that it is on purposely so the "hojaldre" or filo would not crack... had fresh fruit ice tea that was very good! My son then had the Nutella crepe that was quite good and tasty... The place does need to remodel the terrace as it does look dated and again Jimmy told us that is in the immediate future drawing board.... Went for lunch today. Outside seating was pleasant. We had the mushroom soup which was good. The bread was good. Chef's salad was good, especially the chicken that came with it and the dressing. Mussels with white wine sauce and French fries were passable. Could have been served warmer and with more sauce. The French fries were good. On the whole, the food was quite decent.
