I've been going here for almost a decade and my first and only unpleasant experience just occurred the other day on 1/13/2023 around 12pm. I went in for my adjustment as usual and the new, medium-blond front desk lady was rude from the initial check-in to the final check-out. I only call out the hair color because there were two front desk ladies (one was medium-blond and the other was a dark brunette) * there was another lady sitting in the back by the printer, but it the blond in front meeting and greeting guests that was extremely rude. I understand staff may need to learn and develop in their capacity, but her tone, her lack of care, and aloofness blatantly showed she was lacking basic customer service competencies. read more

Chiropractic red flags; requiring patients to get an X-ray before treatment, next they will use imaging to track your progress. Be careful as this chiropractic office requires X-rays prior to adjustment and could care less if you had too many prior unnecessary X-rays. Dr. Mike is amazing. I went in initially because I was recommended by my midwife to help turn my breech baby. I never knew that seeing a chiropractor for this was even a thing and to be completely honest was a little skeptical. Sure enough, 2 adjustments later the baby was head down. While I give kudos to this center for their exceptional customer service, I feel they are a big ole rip off joint. For one, they order tests that are not necessary and recommend multiple treatments for those just needing the bare minimum. For me, I would experience headaches/dizziness every once in a while and this center suggested I go in for an adjustment every other day totalling well over $2,000 AFTER insurance. Some people don't believe in chiropractors and I feel this office is the reason why. They don't provide any substance for the reasons behind your office treatments. Furthermore, they don't release your xrays which has to be some HIPPA violations but eh, I've moved on from there. This place = no good. **Updated** Wow, all of a sudden all these random glowing reviews surface using the same sentence structure! Looks like 5 star stuffing to me! One of the other reviewers contacted me accusing me of having bad insurance which is why the bill was so high. I work for the Federal Government and have one of the best health insurance policies in the entire country! Of course it's going to be a boat load of money when they are asking you to come in every other day for such a long period of time. I cannot stress to you how horrible this practice is. I am all about the food, but I occasionally review non-food things and it's usually because I want to warn people or because I want to enlighten people. Luckily, this review is of the latter...I want enlighten people about Renaissance (see what I did there?..somebody's laughing...) Our first encounter with Renaissance occurred in 2011--we keep meeting by accident (Oh snap! Surely, you saw what I did there?). Let me just say, however, that I will go here for ongoing maintenance, and not simply because random people keep ramming their car into mine. I hope to never be in another car accident in my life. My husband and I are both skeptical by nature and by educational training. No matter how much we want to question the science of chiropractic care, the results speak for themselves. Each time I have been in tremendous pain, a visit here has brought immediate relief. Additionally, I recommended a friend to RCC. She was going for an adjustment and decided to get her baby adjusted as well. Her baby previously fed primarily on the right side (for over 5 months). After the adjustment, he immediately began feeding equally on both sides. And this was all unbeknownst to the Doctor. The women at the front desk are professional, courteous, and prompt. Most days, my visits are in and out (although I have much better luck with this in the morning rather than the evening slots). I believe there are three massage therapists. I have seen two and would recommend both. Kaylie's massages feel more manipulative and closer to deep tissue, while Kevin seems to have a lighter touch. Based on the service of this place, I am sure that all three are good. I have seen all of the doctors. Although we primarily see Dr. Mike, we have also seen Dr. Doug, Dr. Rodger, and even the younger doctor (maybe an intern)...I can't think of his name, but the are all good. In other words, you never have to worry who your appointment might be with because they are all good. Getting your back cracked is like crack..once you start, it's hard to stop. I liked them. They all seemed knowledgeable and very friendly. My husband and I saw them around the same time and since he doesn't Yelp, I'll review for him too. It was my first (only) visit ever to a Chiro and I was 34 weeks pregnant at the time. I was terrified of it hurting me or the baby, but I had so much pain in my left hip I couldn't sit for more then 10 minutes. I figured it wouldn't hurt to talk to them. Because I was pregnant, I didn't have to go through the x-rays and a few other tests. They adjusted me at my initial appointment. They talked to me quite a bit about my concerns and gave me some tips of things I could do at home to help. I left feeling so much better. It wasn't perfect, but I was in so much less pain! My husband has had back/neck pain for years. He scheduled an appointment around the same time as I did, but he had to go through all the tests and x-rays before they would adjust him. He always feels so much better after the appts, but they wanted to put him on a plan that would have cost us much more then we can afford. Supposedly, his veteran benefits should cover the costs, but that's a whole other story that I won't get into. Our ins co-pay at the time was $30 a session. Needless to say, we can't afford to go often. Overall though, we both had good experiences. read more

Took my 3 month old daughter in for an adjustment this morning and I truly couldn't be more please. The front desk staff was charming, the setting was relaxing and classy, and Dr. Mike Long was an absolute angel. It was obvious from the moment I handed her over that he had a way with little ones. She smiled through her whole adjustment and noticeably feels like a million bucks now. I would highly recommend him for anyone! He was so great and gentle with my babe and I really appreciated how he kept us informed with what the problem areas tend to be and why, as well as everything he was feeling for as he was going along. I have been a patient here for 11 years and the competent staff and capable doctors have rejuvenated my trust in natural care. After watching a brother spend his childhood with wild inner ear problems and violent vommiting, it was a relief to learn that a simple adjustment relieved all symptoms. I tend to go for emergency care (when it hurts enough for me to need them) followed up by a few appointments of preventative care. The office is clean and inviting. The patient rooms are comfortable and private. I have total faith in the center. I have seen them for sublaxed ribs, jaw problems, and migraines. Can't say enough good. The relief is almost instant. One reviewer complained that they warn against vaccines based in "outdated" science. The science is modern and all around us. The doctors in no way pressure or bully you about health choices, but are very well informed and can recommend natural remedies outside of chiropractic care. I married into a chiropractic family, and so when I delivered my son two years ago, we brought him in on the way home from the hospital. Dr. Mike adjusted him (so amazing), to make sure things were all good after his intense/rough entrance into the world. My son and I have been regulars since! (My husband has been a regular since he was a kid). I got adjusted myself for the first time when my son was a few weeks old, and now that I'm pregnant with #2, I see Dr. Mike as much as I see my midwife. At once point, I got adjusted and the relief to the pain I was having in my lower back was INCREDIBLE. I stood up and I just felt everything settle into place where it was supposed to be. The warmness of hospitality is felt at the initial phone call to schedule an appointment, "it's a great day at renaissance chiropractic!" And the administrative staff is warm and friendly. Mike and the entire team are committed to overall health and wellbeing, and we love the strong emphasis they have put on family togetherness. We are encouraged to bring our small children with us- we believe it is important for them to get adjusted and they love going. One of the office staff even held our small daughter when my wife needed an adjustment but I couldnt come along to help with kiddos. My wife suffers from migraines and when she feels one coming on there have been multiple occasions where Mike or Doug were able to squeeze in an appointment to help her out. My husband went in for a new patient appointment and was there for over 90 minutes with only about seven of them being spent with the chiropractor. He also got hooked up to "diagnostic" machines to measure things like his stress level. None of his "results" were shared with him. For an office that touts the "chiropractic lifestyle" of no antibiotics and vaccinations they sure are a hard sell on x-rays. They even told my husband when he declined the x-Ray that they would not be able to adjust him manually. I guess a little extra radiation is all right when it enables one to make money. The adjustment that my husband received did absolutely nothing to improve his back pain. As a previous reviewer said, there are so many better options in Tacoma so why waste your time and money here? In general, they were fine. They did great during the actual treatment of what was bothering me. The reason I stopped going however, is because while I was waiting in the waiting area for my appointment I was watching the tv screen, where they have a nice little continuous slide show playing, which shows little reasons about why chiropractic care can be great. That was fine... there was some information though about how you shouldn't get your kids vaccinated because vaccinations lead to autism, etc. That information is SO OUTDATED and completely false. I felt that they obviously don't keep up with medical info, or make sure they aren't giving out innaccurate info. My treatment was just about complete anyway, so I just decided to stop going. read more

I was referred to Dr Mike by my midwife in my first pregnancy. The care I received greatly helped the pregnancy-related sciatica I was experiencing. After our son was born, we noticed he only wanted to turn his head one way; Dr Mike treated him when he was a day old and his range of motion soon greatly improved, having a huge impact on nursing. We have continued our regular treatments with Dr Mike; I am now 2 weeks away from my due date with #2; this time, ZERO sciatica during pregnancy, I have received treatment since before I knew I was pregnant. Doctors and front staff are nice. Their billing system doesnt seem to be correct. Received a bill in the mail from 8 months previous. First bill I had ever received and it said I was over 120 days past due. After calling for clarification, it was discovered that I was under charged on my previous visit. Although the chiropractors were fairly good chiropractors, their billing policies are atrocious in my opinion. Most health practitioners like chiropractors and doctors, if you have insurance, you can see them and have them bill you for your coinsurance. This location will bill you anything you might possibly owe up front, sometimes resulting in an over payment. That happened to me, and was what I was afraid of when they told me they billed up front. They care more about their OWN money though, than they do about their patients' money or health, is what it would seem to me. Decent chiropractors, and although I went here for a few months, I have moved on to better things. Dealing with billing on the day of, instead of being able to review it and make sure they are billing the appropriate amount, is just really annoying and shady in my opinion. If I could, I think I might give six stars. I have had chiropractic care before when I was younger, and it was pretty good. Now I come to find that my old chiropractor worked under this family before he got his own office. I was in a car accident and decided to see them because they are my mother's chiropractor (she gave them rave reviews so I went there). I was pretty out of whack so to speak and Dr. Mike suggested I go three times a week, and then lessen my visits once I am feeling and doing better. It was hard to make time, but I think it was necessary for the extent of injuries I endured during the accident. It is working out so far and I am almost done with three times a week. Also, the massages are very relaxing and professional. Since the medical bills are all through my car insurance, I am not having to pay co-pays. However, if I was, I know that the $20 would seem overwhelming to do three times a week. If you go there, only do what you can. Don't put yourself in debt to go three times a week if you can help it. Tell them you do not have the time in your schedule or the weight in your wallet for intensive chiropractic care. They will work with you. I like the receptionists, and the cheesy way they answer the phone :) I recommend that you see one of the Longs. The other doctors are cool, but just go with one of the brothers. I've been going to Renaissance Chiropractic Center for almost 20 years. Dr. Doug is my usual and favorite dr. But I've also seen Dr. Mike, Dr. Roger and Dr. Niemi and all are great. They are knowledgeable and explain exactly why they are adjusting certain areas. I can come in and explain a symptom that doesn't directly correlate to back pain (i.e. Digestive issues) and Dr. Doug will test a few areas that may be contributing to my symptoms and adjust accordingly. I've also had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Kevin for massage therapy upstairs. He was great as well. Very professional and kind. The front desk staff is usually very kind and welcoming. The bathrooms are always clean and the waiting area is tidy. They do have two small playrooms for the kiddos to play in while you wait to get called back. The wait times can vary but are usually not more than 10 min if you have an appointment. They do allow walk-ins but know that the wait will be significantly longer before being seen. If you are in pain, you have to see Renaissance Chiropractic Center. I have been a patient for over 15 years. What kind of patient am I? Well, I go when I hurt. I know that they care about my continued health but honestly, I take the pain of daily life and once the pain is too much, they are there for me.
