I had such a great brunch at Renaissance Café today. As someone who's gluten-free and dairy-free, I really appreciate places that can accommodate without making it a "thing," and they absolutely nailed it. I ordered the Healthy Hash and a chai with oat milk (so good), and they also had gluten-free bread and soy butter, which honestly made my morning. I'm also grabbing a Bloody Mary, and everything has been excellent. The vibe here is what really sets it apart: super chill, cozy, and welcoming, with genuinely friendly staff. I also loved that they have games and beautiful photography/art books out and available to use -- it's such a fun way to actually connect with your group instead of everyone defaulting to their phones while waiting for food. I noticed the sign saying they're celebrating 25 years, and I truly hope they're around for many more. Leavenworth is such a cute German-style town, but as someone who can be pretty picky (and with dietary restrictions), it can be hard to find a place I really love -- and this one delivered on every level. We tried this place because it was open early at 7am. As we approached, it was super cute. Great signage. You walk downstairs into this cute Woman Owned Business. We were the first ones there. We were immediately greeted and seated. The coffee was great and served with a baby carafe of milk. Super cute. More folks started to trickle in so I'm glad we got in when we did. I requested my eggs over medium and my bacon, not too crispy and they came out perfect!!! I also ordered waffles instead of toast and wow it came with 4 slices. The waffles were a little too soft for my liking but they were still really good. Seriously, share the waffles with someone because there was more than enough. The business has recently celebrated 25 years in business and I can see why. You can also grab a cold beverage or some snacks if you don't want to have a sit down breakfast. Only place in Leavenworth with less than a 2 hour wait for walk-in on a December Saturday at 2pm. I think the menu is too big here, it brings down the quality of each item offered. I felt like my burger patty was a Costco bulk item. The pasta salad lacked flavor. The huge bowl of oatmeal with peanut butter and yogurt was awesome for our little girl. The best thing our party of 5 ordered was the Reuben- that was definitely a repeat order if we were to return. The chips that come with the orders are corn tortilla chips. They don't really match the theme of the foods that are offered. Service was pretty good and they were really accommodating of our 1.5 year old child. Ambience is completely different depending on which side of the restaurant you're on. One side is brightly painted and cheery. Ours was giving grandma's basement. All in all, this is a solid little cafe we tried while in Leavenworth this year. I was searching for places to have lunch when I stumbled upon the reviews mentioning gluten-free pancakes.. I obvi couldn't resist such a promise, and we popped in on our first day in town. It's a small space, as are most of the Leavenworth restaurants. The stairway splits into two separate dining areas, and the servers have to keep track of both sides. We were seated in the main one with the kitchen. It was busy, but we were lucky to snag a table and sardined ourselves into place. The server was nice but rushed, and we didn't interact much. I ordered the chocolate chip gf pancakes, and the husband's had a biscuits and gravy breakfast. On my way to the bathroom, I overheard one of the cooks commenting on my gf order and that the chocolate chips had gluten in them. It didn't sound like they were going to inform me so I popped my head in, mentioned it was my order, that chocolate chips with gluten would be something I've never heard of but if they could double check and lmk that would be great and I could always order something else if needed. One of the servers in there came by the table and lmk the cook was thinking dairy and all was OK! The pancakes and bacon were both very good and I enjoyed them. The husband was not crazy about his biscuits and gravy, but he's oh so picky. He cleaned his plate just fine. The pros: Good pricing for the area. My wife LOVED the Rueben, and my Chicken Ranch was really good. There are lots of fun games you can play while waiting for your food (connect four, jenga, decks of cards, etc.) making for a fun atmosphere. The cons: it was unclear if it was a "wait to be seated" or "sit wherever you'd like" kind of place. When we asked about it, the staff seemed pretty short / unhelpful. This place was underwhelming to say the least. My husband and I came in for breakfast one morning with another couple and yeah, we had breakfast. Our server was not helpful and very snarky. We felt like she was insulting us with her comments - it was strange. The food was nothing special - we were starved so ate it - but none of us were impressed. I ordered an omelet with extra cheese, ham, and onion and there was essentially NO cheese (and we were definitely charged for it). When I asked about the cheese our server was irritated and offered to take it back but I was afraid to send it back because of her attitude. So I forced myself to eat a dry omelet with ham and onion just sitting inside of it. The toppings on the bloody Mary's were also questionable - they didn't appear fresh and the taste seemed off. There aren't many options in Leavenworth, especially during Oktoberfest fest, but I would have rather just gone to the store and gotten something quick than spending our time and money here. Solid breakfast menu with a highlight of blueberry pancakes. I had Rhowyn's oats and a side of scrambled eggs, which were satisfying. I recommend adding a little bit of cream and maple syrup to the oats. My husband had Grandpa Ron's Plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, and a blueberry pancake. If to relish in the idea of not being able to carry on a conversation over the screeching coffee foam jet that's likely loud enough to be an OSHA decibel violation then this is the place for you. If they forget to add the bluberries you ordered with your pancake, they'll offer to throe some on top (sorry, not the same as cooked into the pancake) rather than remake it the way you clearly ordered it. How is it known the order was written down correctly? Because you there's the upcharge on the bill for the blueberries you didn't get. At least the tables are crammed together Euro style to add to the claustrophobic vibe in this underground noise cave. The Renaissance Cafe is a nice cafe in Leavenworth. We went there during a busy weekend around Christmas so they were very busy, but the food was good. It is a very cozy place, with the nice touch that they have games like Connect4 you can play. We went there for brunch. I ordered something called the Curtain Call. This included two eggs, sausage, and then biscuits with sausage gravy. The eggs and sausage were both good, but the sausage gravy was exceptional, particularly when matched with the biscuits. Simply delicious. Service was a little slow and my friends eggs were a little undercooked, but food was very good and I would definitely go here on a day when not too busy. read more

My wife and I are visiting Leavenworth for our 23rd Wedding Anniversary. We got an early start this morning and decided to stop at Renaissance Cafe for breakfast. The restaurant is at the bottom of a flight of stairs, in the basement of the building. That is not uncommon in Leavenworth as space is at a premium so quite a few shops are in the basement or second floor. The locale has no affect on the food though. I enjoyed a 3 egg omelette filled with my choice of available choices. I chose mushrooms, jalapeños, and Italian Sausage. I opted for rye toast and was pleasantly surprised that it was actually marbled rye! Everything was very tasty and I was very pleased with my visit. read more

The menu is big and delicious choices are plentiful. This is a hidden gem downstairs and off Main Street. It's better than most restaurants in town. They don't have a kids menu, but you can easily put together a kids meal with their slider burger and a side of fries or half a waffle. They have so many good things to choose from. Food was OK, but quite pricey Service was variable: One server was pleasant enough, one was rude. Ambiance was quite pleasant. This restaurant is accessed via a dimly lit stairway with handrails that did not extend to the bottom of the stairs and the bottom stair carpet was in ripped and taped over with tape that was lifting. My wife tripped and fell, striking her shoulder on a solid bench armrest. I have never seen staff try so hard (and succeed ) avoiding noticing that a customer had fallen to their injury on their premises, despite the customer yelling in pain. After my son-in-law and myself, with no help firm the wait staff, got my wife to a table , there was absolutely no inquiry from anyone about how she was or to render aid. I've been to Leavenworth twice and both times I go to Renaissance Cafe for the best breakfast burrito in Washington. Oh my gosh it is so good...loaded with eggs, vegetarian sausage, salsa and I got avocado, all wrapped in a tender and warm tortilla. It comes with a side of breakfast potatoes that are perfectly cooked and an assortment of sauces to complement. The coffee is great too. This last time I went I got a dirty chai latte with oat milk and it was amazing. It was very busy, probably because of the octoberfest, so I had to wait for a bit and staff seemed a little unorganized, but I think the food is worth the wait and I was in no rush. I like that it's a woman owned company and the staff is nice and good at staying calm with a full restaurant and line to get in. This breakfast burrito seriously slaps esp after a long day of hiking! Then they have extra charge for to go containers. It will be okay for extra charge for the things but again YOu Should notice customer not hide like this. Won't recommend it. Not good at all. We were here today for breakfast. We ordered papa style waffles, veggies with scrambled egg and black bean burger. No taste at all. We were just killing our hunger with that tasteless food. Fries were oily, too thin and one can smell oil too. We were here and the host was over the phone, talking so loud most of the time, Not looking around if someone needs anything. My husband went to the counter 2 times to ask for hot sauce. They opened 40 minutes late...apparently the griddle and espresso machine weren't cooperating, but we chalked it up to being on a wait list. Waitress was attentive.
