The husband and I stopped in here for a tasting this weekend and quickly added it to our list of favorite tasting rooms in Leavenworth. It's a pretty small inside shop with a long beautiful wood bar, luxurious decorations for sale, and a couple small tables for two on the side. There is also some outdoor seating which despite the snow was surprisingly full. The tasting was 20 for 8 pours and was waved with bottle purchase which was not difficult to do as they had so many good selections. My favorites were the Moscato and bordeux bastard and the husband loved the Riesling and gluhwein. We settled on his two favorites as he's not a big wine guy so finding two he loved is rare! We look forward to returning on our next trip as well as enjoying the bottles we brought home with us! read more

Wife ventured into Kris Kringl store which was packed so I went out looking for a relaxing glass of something. Found Bergdorf just a few shops away, sidewalk seating was perfect for a nice view of Front St and the mountain. "Hot spiced Wine" sounded perfect. I asked a couple sitting near if it was good, he said "if you like sweetness, yes it's good". Obviously he was devilishly joking with me (they were leaving). 1) Bergdorf is a tiny shop near the very east end of Front Street, not much charm at all. A counter with maybe 7 seats, 1 two person table. Outside, four 2-person tables. Not much decor on this visit, not sure when those photos on Yelp and Google were! 2) two propane pyramid heaters outside which were good. 3) Okay, but limited view of Front St and the mountain, good people watching from the outside seating. 4) HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE Hot spiced German Gluhwein "Wine". It truly was super tart. Another two younger women got it just before me and when I sat down to drink it, I asked if it was good. They told me "it's very tart". OMG, mind-blowing, nasty tart! I really, really had to choke it down. I thought it'd get better several sips in....NO. I asked the women, half way through, "would you recommend this" and we agreed "NO!!". Seriously, you need to reevaluate your recipe and somehow make a change! I have no idea what the others on Yelp were served, it had to be a different recipe! 5) Wife had the Chenin Blanc which she said was fine. 6) I also had a Pilsner Beer, VERY DISAPPOINTED that it was just served in the can and not cold enough. I think they had 3 diff beers, in cans, available. Nothing charming about a medium cool beer, in a can, in a German themed town. Too many other WAY BETTER options for a glass of Beer or Wine and I'd NEVER suggest their "hot spiced wine", sorry, but just nasty. read more

Had an amazing time at Bergdorf Cellar. We tried the Blaufränkisch for the first time and walked out buying two bottles it was so good. But what really makes this place special is Roderick, the owner of this establishment. Such a great joy to be around and sent us home with a free bottle because life is good and he wants us to enjoy it. He is incredibly charming and has such an interesting life story that you could spend hours listening to. Definitely a must stop place for wine tasting in Leavenworth! I picked up a bottle of the 2018 Petite Verdot and the yearly bottle of Gluhwien to enjoy during the holiday season. This is a cute little wine cellar in Leavenworth. We stopped by here on a snowy day and got their mulled wine (different but delicious) and a glass of ski jump red. Both the wines were great but i personally enjoyed their gluhwein. They have a cute little patio with fire pit and it is lovely to sit out there and sip some delicious home grown wine. Prices are fair and quality is good. Highly recommend this place if in Leavenworth. read more

Walked in to try the Glühwein, expecting it to be a "normal" mulled wine. But I was definitely mistaken. They have both a red and a white. The red was very spicy and simply FEELS like the winter season in a glass. Something that you want to curl up on the couch with a book and a fire and spend the day enjoying. Next I had the white. This isn't nearly as spicy, but what it lacks in spice it makes up for in smooth sweet drink ability. Needless to say I purchased a bottle of each. Life lesson #52: Wine tasting is best done after margaritas. Your palette will already be shot to hell after a couple of margies. Your sensory functions will be null because, let's face it, happy hour fries the brain like nothing else does. BUT, Bergdorf was only a hop and a skip away from our happy hour spot, South, so it would be a crime if we didn't continue the drinking. I neglected to get the name of the blonde woman who helped us with the tasting, but she was very helpful. We even got to talk about wines from California vs. Washington, etc. Tasting fee is $5 but refundable if you buy a bottle. The flight includes two whites (Chenin Blanc, a dry Riesling and late harvest Riesling) and reds which includes Lemberger, Syrah and if you're nice, a taste of their sangria ;-) I really like the Lemberger. It's easy to drink, medium bodied with rustic tannins and I smelled cherries and berries. In Austria it's known as "Blaufränkisch" which literally translates to blue faced French men. After drinking tons of this stuff, you get the idea why .... Bergdorf is really popular for their Glühwein. As I've been told, no German would be caught drinking Glühwein outside of the Christmas season. But I guess in Leavenworth, anything goes! It tasted exactly like mulled wine and all the spices, plus the warmth of the wine itself would make for an awesome drink during the chilly temperatures around Christmas time. I was drawn in by the sign for warm spiced wine, and had to double check if it was really warm? Once I got confirmation, I just had to taste it. We shared a glass for $7 and it was so tasty! You can definitely taste the spices and it warms you up in the best way. Naturally, I had to come back our second day and get one more glass before leaving. I learned that it's ready to go straight out of the bottle, just needs to be heated! A bottle was only $24 so I started to mull it over (see what I did there?), and then found out that if you do a wine tasting for $10 and buy any bottle, that $10 tasting fee is waived. The Wine was mediocre and charcuterie was terrible, few chunks of cheese and salami served from a tiny package grocery store with few crackers. The place looks nice and cute from the inside or the outside which is misleading from the quality of the wine, food and service. The lady was so impatient and keep trying to pour my next tasting even though I wasn't finished with the one before and no information about the product. She just not very friendly. Easily my favorite of all the Leavenworth tasting rooms we had stopped by. The two lovely females working the corkscrew were both wine fanatics and it showed - in both their knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for each wine poured. Each of the wines brought their own tasty little nuance to the table, keeping my opinion on which wine to bring home fluttering. My favorite - their Reisling. Such a wonderful tasting wine, without all the sugar that is all-to-common on most Reislings. At a mere 1% residual sugar, it left you with a clean finish that was preceded with a kiss of sweetness. Excellent. But as for unique, nothing else tops the served-warm Glühwein. This mulled wine brought me right into Christmas time, sitting by the fire, bundled up with a nice blanket and a loved one. Wine has always made me feel warm inside, but when the dose is served warm, the experience is even greater. Of course a bottle had to be brought home, most likely to be consumed right before hitting the slopes on a wintery day. A great opportunity to try some exception wines - and also something exceptionally unique. Go for the Glühwein, stay for the knowledgeable hostesses. read more

Came in yesterday to pick up our Baroness wine membership orders. As a benefit, free wine tastings! When I started tasting wine 14 years ago, I wasn't a big on whites due to the gasoline, asphalt, and tar flavors often I'd pick up. I don't like dry or peppery reds either. But after going through Bergdorf's list, I hit pay dirt with their 2012 Late Harvest Reisling - sweet but not too much, very smooth, big pear and subtle cinnamon flavors. And our server was very friendly and helpful! We ended up getting 3 bottles, though maybe we should have bought more. They'll probably last me quite a few months, considering how little I usually drink anyway. read more

If you are going to do some wine tasting in Leavenworth you've got to check out Bergdorf's. I am a fan of their reds, and there is always something new coming out. They generally have a Ski Jump Red on hand which is great go to wine for pairing with a steak or creamy cheese. Sometimes they have a Lemberger, which smells smooth and enticing, though it is warm and peppery as it moves across the tongue. So while these are great and worth picking up, you need to sample the Malbec, so smooth with a vein of chocolate toffee lingering in the after taste. We were so intrigued by this subtle flavor that it quickly became our favorite and purchased a bottle. Another wine that you should try here is their warm Gluhwein. This literally tastes like Christmas in a cup, and surely will make you feel Merry. To sum it all up this place is clean with an antique like feel. The wine is smooth and doesn't have that laced with sulfates and added junk in it taste. Take it from someone who gets pretty sick after drinking any poorly crafted wine. And the staff here is absolutely friendly! If your looking for a more laid back wine tasting experience, then you should check out Bergdorf's! read more

My boyfriend and I went here for a wine tasting over the weekend. The woman who did our tasting was extremely nice and very knowledgeable. We had the opportunity to try 7 wines for $2.50 per person. I am more partial to whites than reds, so I was a little sad to see there were 5 reds and only 2 whites to try. However, the whites were quite good and the reds, while not my typical preference for reds, were also enjoyable (minus one that had a pepper aftertaste! Dump!). The best wine, hands down, was the warmed Glühwein. It was like Christmas in a bottle. I could easily see myself curling up in a cozy blanket and drinking a ton of that stuff. We wasted no time deciding to buy a bottle to share. We're definitely looking forward to drinking it together during the holidays. I would definitely come back here again for a tasting! read more

Gluhwein was one of my favorite. It has been my "must have" every time I visit Leavenworth. Sadly to say, my last experience with Bergdorf Cellar and the Gluhwein wasn't as pleasant as previous visits. First of all, the drink was warm but in the cooler side unlike steamy warmth the cellar used to serve. Secondly, it tasted watered down. Last but the least, when I shared my disappointment with the staff, the lady pretty much told me I was wrong and it can't be watered down because there was no water in the drink. Needless to say, this would be my last visit to Bergdorf Cellar. read more

Visited while in Leavenworth to do a wine tasting. Very impressed with the wines - they were all delicious. My fiance ended up walking away with a bottle of the spiced wine. We were one of the first people to walk in when they opened, so I was a little bummed that the ladies working weren't more chatty with us about the wines. It was basically a pour, we sipped, they pour, we sipped... No information about the wines, EXCEPT for the spiced wine because we were so impressed by the flavor. My friend and I went in for a wine tasting. The pours were the smallest I've ever had but I suppose it turned out to be a positive thing since from what I could taste, the wines were all pretty bad. I know it's all personal preference but I've never been to a tasting where I've strongly disliked every selection. Some of them even tasted like they were bad batches. The lady didn't share any information on the wines (which I usually enjoy when I do tastings) and wasn't overly concerned with customer service.
