Let me preface this review by saying that I have been going to my regular nail tech for 6 years,…read moreshe has been in Vietnam since the last week of December and does not come back until the middle of March. So, I am not cheating. Lol! We are on a break! Because she has been away, I have been trying to find a stand-in salon until she gets back. 3 weeks ago I went to a salon and did not have a good experience. My manicure was horrendous. It was bad! They didnt focus on cuticle health and used a drill bit for everything. 0/10 do not recommend. I have a friend who is looking for a salon who had a great experience here, and she suggested it to me. I suspect she grew tired of hearing me complain about the state of my cuticles, but whatever.... Anyway, I googled and found that I was able to make an appt through their website. The system was easy to use, and I just picked what I wanted. Positive website navigation...check! I immediately received a text verifying my booking. I received a reminder text a few days before, and yet another one the day of. Communication....check. The salon is on Harford Rd right off 695 and there is plenty of parking in back which is great! Location...check When I walked in my immediate reaction was "oh this is CUTE!" Its a boutique salon, extremely clean, and homey but in the best way. I was immediately greeted by the salon manager (Im so sorry I can't remember your name) with a hello and a warm welcome. She immediately put me at ease, and I just felt so comfortable like it wasnt my first visit. The manager confirmed what I was getting and led me over my tech, Shradha. She gave my toes and fingers the business. THE BUSINESS!! She got me right! I got the special pedicure. You get your choice of scented scrub and I chose lavender. The callus remover is also included. They dont use the cheese grater. Instead, they use a motorized foot sander thing. They also use disposable utensils. My feet are smooooth, my cuticles have been loved on, and my polish is amazing. I love Shradha so much!! Shradha is very quiet and thats okay. I'm new, she doesnt know me, and she was all about getting me right, so I was fine. I just started talking to everyone else. The manager was personable and we talked about her journey to the salon, and the goals of the owner (which are fabulous and exciting! I love to see black women making big moves especially in spaces where we arent represented). I love talking to people because im 1. Nosey and 2. I'm a yapper. I also talked to the techs and its very clear that they operate as a team. Often nail salons are individualistic and I don't get that vibe from them. Everyone is a talented artist in their own right and they come together because they share a common goal for the salon. Let me not forget to mention the diversity on the team. I do believe that everyone was a POC and the clients that were being serviced were also equally diverse. I was extremely impressed all the way around. My service was gel soak off (hands and feet), special gel pedicure, and gel manicure. Total cost was $120+ tip. If I had to give a criticism, it was a super small one, the size of a grain sand. It would be the fumes of the chemicals. Towards the end of my service, it became more pronouced due to the lack of ventilation as the space is small. Ive never smelled it that pungent before so Im not sure if it was a one off. Nonetheless, I can fix that with a mask. It's clear that I had a fabulous time. I like to try something 3 times before I decide that I like it. But the thought has entered my mind that I might have to break up with my nail tech. It was just that good! Okay this is a long one, Ive said enough. Everyone needs to try this salon. Youre welcome!!!

I am beyond disappointed. I was a loyal client and gave this salon 5 stars in the past, but since…read moreHelen moved to Pikesville, the service has completely changed. I've tried multiple times to get my nails done, most recently on a Friday afternoon around 12:45 and have been turned away again and again. The worst part? There were several staff members sitting in the shop not doing nails. Most nail salons take walk-ins unless otherwise stated. Instead of being offered a wait time or appointment, I was simply told "we don't have time." That's not just inconvenient, it's rude and dismissive. A business is more than one person, but without basic courtesy and customer service, clients like me won't be coming back.

Extremely disappointing experience…read more Like many of the other reviews, my experience with Helen started out perfectly fine. She was polite and friendly, and I had been a customer without any problems. Unfortunately, her behavior toward me changed dramatically one day, and the experience was so upsetting that I waited a full year before writing this review. I arrived for my appointment, sat down, and explained how I wanted my nails done. Helen had earbuds in and was clearly engaged in another conversation or listening to something. I repeatedly tried to communicate what I wanted, but I felt completely dismissed and ignored. The situation became much worse when she began using the drill to remove my polish. She repeatedly hurt/burned me, and each time I instinctively pulled my hand away. I told her that it was hurting me and asked her to stop. Instead of listening, she became extremely angry and insisted that it didn't hurt. That's when I noticed she had her earbuds on and had NOT listened to anything I said. She told me I was the rude one and continued arguing with me. At that point, I was incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassed. She was raising her voice and making a scene, and I honestly felt so shocked that I didn't even know how to respond or simply get up and leave. My understanding was that she had another appointment scheduled after mine and was trying to save time by drilling the polish off rather than letting it soak. But rushing to the next appointment is never an excuse for ignoring a client's concerns or continuing something that is causing pain. I have never been treated this way by someone providing a service. If you are working directly with a client, the very least you should do is listen to them--especially when they tell you that something hurts. Wearing earbuds, being distracted by a heated personal conversation or a show, and then becoming angry when the customer asks to be heard is simply not acceptable. Her husband is very nice and does a good job with pedicures, although I have had some issues with the polish and overall nail work. Unfortunately, because of my experience with Helen, I would not recommend returning. It's simply not inexpensive enough to justify being dismissed, ignored, and treated disrespectfully. Clients deserve to feel comfortable, heard, and respected while they're paying for a service.

I moved and Quinn came highly recommended. I waited to write this review because I needed to get service a few times to assess. Quinn is booked and busy so appointments are your best friend. Quinn does my hands and any available tech does my pedicures. Quinn is not just a nail tech she is an artist. She can recreate any style you show her. As of the date of this review I've gotten my nails done five times by her and each time she delivers. I will admit they are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. They charge for long nails, special shape, designs and gel. I'm there every 2-3 weeks and between an acrylic fill in and gel pedicure I spend upwards of $150. A bit steep but again I always leave with what I want. Also want to note that for my hands from start to finish the service usually takes 2 hrs. So plan accordingly. For my pedicures I prefer the male techs because they massage my feet better. I always get the honey flower spa pedicure which comes with your traditional foot soak, cuticle detail and buffing. But additionally you're getting callus removal , sugar scrub and paraffin wax treatment. The process takes about an hour and is so soothing. The salon is well lit and clean. They usually have music playing on the TV and if you're thirsty they have bottles of water. Overall , pricey but consistent service and I do recommend.
