He was a merchandiser for gift shops so there was a lot of samples collected over the years that had piled up. It was a lot to handle. Doing the estate sale would have been easier (for us) before the sale of the home but in this case by the advice of the realtor it would show/sell better with furniture and it did, successfully. Estate sale came after house was sold, I interviewed several companies. Some people I spoke with about our situation said it was all the same but I'm here to tell you - it is not. Ask questions during the consults but trust me Blue Moon - Sarah's team worked with us & brought the best value of service. I've done garage sales myself but this was on a massive scale. I needed a team that would tackle this project with respect and get the best outcome. Sarah & her team were amazing- So efficient, organized, detailed, attended to all our odd merchandise, very professional, and just did a fantastic job! My heart was so relieved that we had chosen the right people for our beloved friend's belongings. Thank you so much Sarah! X

Let me tell you she and her associates have always treated me in a fair, friendly and professional manner. She has the high quality standard that I prefer to deal with in my business transactions. She's been knowledgeable about the products I've inquired about and, when she didn't' know the answer she seemed to know just who to call to get an honest answer. I've attended sales from Austin to a new one in San Marcos and New Braunfels and it's always the same experience.I highly recommend her and Blue Moon whether you're buying or need to sell the contents of a house. I wanted to reach out because I'm extremely disappointed with how this situation was handled…read more Although my husband is truly accommodating by what happened, this message is coming from me, Todd's wife because I was the one who had to take time out of a very busy schedule to make arrangements after he was confirmed as the winning bidder. My husband and I attended your estate sale where the older Volvo was being sold. He has always loved 1980s Volvos and has owned several, so this car meant a lot to him. When he inquired, he was told there was an auction and to write an offer in the book. At the time, the only offer was $300, so he made a fair offer of $1,000. On Monday evening, he received a message saying he had won the car for $1,000. Since he is retired and didn't have immediate access to cash, we immediately made a plan. He met with the owner Tuesday morning, and they agreed he would return Wednesday morning to finalize the purchase. I adjusted my work schedule so I could handle getting the cash and help complete the transaction. Then later Tuesday afternoon, Todd was told that the car had been sold to the auction company instead because the owner needed to leave town early. This is incredibly upsetting. After confirming him as the winning bidder and agreeing on a pickup time, the car was taken out from under him. That completely undermines trust in your process. If winning an auction and making an agreement doesn't actually secure the item, it raises serious concerns about fairness and transparency. From my perspective, this felt very unethical and self-serving. I understand things can come up, but clear communication and basic integrity should still apply. This experience left me feeling misled and scammed. Please be aware that I intend to share this experience with the franchisee and on social media outlets.

I was a victim of Blue Moon Estates (Hill Country) in August of 2023…read more During one of the most devastating times in my life, both of my parents passed within three months of each other. We used Blue Moon Estates (BME) to handle my parents' estate sale, and they lied and stole from my brother, sister, and me. I am not writing this review because of the money, but to ensure that others do not go through the same toxic stress that we experienced. I urge you to use someone else for your estate sale and hope to get the word out about my poor experiences with BME. BME charged us $5000 for their service, which is taken off the top from the proceeds of the estate sale, and 50% of all profit. We were happy to pay it, because my sister, brother and I were so overwhelmed and didn't want to deal with this sale. I was relieved to have the help and felt comfortable the first time we talked to Karen, the BME sales and project manager. I was wrong... and not because of the money, but because of the deceitful and incredibly rude behavior by Karen, Lauren, and especially Alex, the owner. No Itemized Invoice: Karen told me that they could not provide an itemized invoice of the items that were sold because they didn't have internet service at the house (although they had no problems for two weeks prior to the sale) so we still have no idea what was sold and for how much. Even if they did provide an itemized invoice, I don't know that I'd believe them. I'm still not sure why they didn't just use a paper and pen to write down a ledger, because we found several receipts left behind by people after the sale in the mess they left (see pics). Deceitful Behavior: Karen, our main BME contact, met us at the start of the process. She assured us that BME would put certain items aside to exclude them from the sale, including any musical instruments, coins, and items of a personal nature such as notes. My brother, sister, and I were all present for this conversation. During BMEs make-ready process, Karen identified some of these special items and took photos of them. We have text messages from Karen with a picture of a frame containing several work service medals my grandmother earned back in the 50s and 60s, and asked if we would like it to be put aside. I was so thankful and I said "Yes, please put them aside." After the sale, we found that empty frame labeled "$80," with all the medals removed. These items were under BMEs control, they agreed to set them aside, and now they are gone after we discussed it with them (see attached images of text thread). BME charged us an additional $300 for a cleaning fee, after we had the house professionally cleaned by a 3rd party, and were told by their team that the house was in "great shape." BME ignored and disagreed that we agreed verbally with with Karen to put aside any coins and musical instruments that they found from the sale, and when we reclaimed our mother's 1960s beginner flute (value less than $50 on eBay) and a handful of quarters (value less than $5) they took $400 commission that they "missed out on" from these items in the sale. Because they take 50% commission that means they valued these items at over $800. That valuation is completely inflated and arbitrary, and worse, they've provided zero justification for it and no willingness to discuss it. BME ignored their own contract by asking us to meet at the house while it was under "their control," and then threatened us for violating their contract by coming on the property, which is exactly where they asked us to meet. I'm glad we were able to receive a small amount of money back from the sale, but the juice was not worth the squeeze. Disrespectful and Damaging: After a few negative interactions with Karen, BME's project manager, leading up to the estate sale, we decided not to engage BME to clean out the house post-sale. We were concerned that based on their prior behavior that BME would overcharge us. In addition, based on our interactions with Karen, we just wanted BME out of the house. Unfortunately, on their way out the door, they TRASHED the yard and left furniture and items outside, destroying them. (see attached pictures and invoice). When we challenged BME on this behavior they made excuses that this was their "standard practice" and that they expected to receive our follow-on business to provide clean out services. Unresponsive and Antagonistic: The worst part of the entire experience is when we communicated with Alex, the owner of BME, about the issues above, her reaction was one of complete disinterest and contempt. She expressed that she had zero desire to speak with us to even hear our concerns. In fact, she told us if we continued to bother her, she would charge us more money. Alex's lack of empathy, professionalism, and customer service was and is astounding. BMEQuestions2023@gmail.com

I attended an estate sale on 5/9/26 in San Antonio, off Huebner/NW Military. When I arrived, the…read moreowner of About Face Estate Sales, Charles Keaton, was outside and said, "You better hurry up, Junior. We're closing soon." I replied, "Okay, buddy." I went inside and asked about buying some leftover books. He said, "For a reasonable price, not something like $10" -- which I wouldn't have offered anyway. Shortly after that, he thought it was a good idea to slap me on the back like we were best buds. Maybe he didn't like me throwing back his condescending demeanor outside. I went upstairs to look at the books and made an offer of $50 for everything. He immediately said, "That's way too low. That's way too low," then said that "she wouldn't accept that," which I assumed meant the homeowner or the person selling the contents of the house. He then said, "Yeah, she'd rather just donate them," which was fine. He also mentioned that she had a lot of money and acted like the books weren't worth his time unless they were making a killing off them. He didn't counter with a higher price to clear everything out or say something like, "If you buy X amount, we could give you a discount." Nothing. He just walked off. Don't say you make deals all the time if you have no intention of actually making a deal. Just say, "We're not accepting offers." What didn't make sense to me was why someone would rather donate the books instead of selling them and clearing them out. I already offer this service and also donate to various charities through my sales. It was apparent he didn't like negotiating, despite saying, "We make deals all the time." He just walked downstairs without saying something like, "Let me go ask the person who owns these books," or giving me any kind of update. A woman then came upstairs a couple of minutes later. She was either the homeowner, the owner of the books, or another staff member who had authority to negotiate, which didn't make sense since I thought Charles was the one I was dealing with. She was a little more reasonable when talking about prices. It's typically bad business practice to have the owner of the house/property being sold on the premises while the sale is going on. Many of the common books were exorbitantly overpriced, basically retirement pricing. It was obvious they weren't going to sell at $8 a pop for common books. I was basically doing them a favor by offering to buy everything. The way Charles went about negotiating and talking with me was really odd. I later went downstairs and could hear them upstairs discussing the deal I had worked out with the lady, if you could call it that. Charles said, "Yeah, we don't want to miss out on that $100," basically talking about how much they were going to make off me with their cut. The guy I interacted with, Charles Keaton, definitely needs to learn how to interact with customers and choose his words more carefully. He came across as tactless and unprofessional. I would never hire him or his company to handle an estate sale. Some estate sale companies seem to get the idea that just because they are selling someone else's possessions and putting price stickers on things, they can be condescending and unprofessional because the next person will just buy the items anyway. Charles, in particular, was by far the worst and most unprofessional person I've interacted with at an estate sale. I was also interested in buying some African wood art pieces in addition to the books, but Charles killed the deal over his pride. I've worked something out with several other estate sale companies, and it was always a win/win. First, know what you have, then go from there. Don't assume that just because there are a lot of common paperback and hardcover books, they're worth hundreds of dollars just because of whatever is written on the tacky little orange price labels stuck on every single spine. If they're leftover on the last day of the sale, they are most likely not worth anywhere near what you're asking, even at 50% off. And if you don't want to entertain offers, just say that and don't waste someone's time!
