Scammers - Don't trust this company! This just happened today at an estate sale in Westlake. I was looking through the jewelry case at this sale and spotted a bracelet that I wanted. I asked to see it and while I looking it over I noticed that it had a broken piece. I said to my mother, who was next to me, that "a piece of the chain is broken". At that time the lady working the jewelry case grabbed it from my hand and said "I can ask about discounting it more". Now, I didn't even ask for a price break and I wasn't even speaking to the lady. I was fully prepared to buy it as-is as I had assumed the pieces had been inspected prior pricing. Anyways, directly in front of us, she passed the bracelet directly to Joe who then walked away with the bracelet. We went on looking through some jewelry, waiting for him to bring back the bracelet with their final price. When Joe did not return with the bracelet, I inquired about it and the same lady who was helping us the first time said "Oh, Joe forgot to pull the bracelet from the case and it sold" which didn't quite make sense. I asked what that meant and she said "someone called and they forgot to pull it and now it is sold". Now I was irritated about this so I asked the two ladies at the checkout if I could speak to Joe to find out what the story was on the bracelet. I told Joe that it was unfair that I was there in-person, prepared to buy the bracelet for the marked price. Joe told me that someone had already purchased it at full asking price and that it was sold. He started raising his voice while telling me this. At this point Cathie comes over to try to calm Joe and lets him know that she will will handle it. Meanwhile everyone at the sale has started to stare. She could not produce a reasonable explanation of how something that I possessed in my hand was snatched away and then "sold" to a mystery buyer. In the end, as I was leaving Joe came out and started harassing me and followed me out saying things like I needed to wait to leave and started filming me with his phone... all the way to my car window. If anything, the camera should have been turned on his erratic and rude behavior. Ugh. Anyways, if you are looking for someone to run a sale, I wouldn't trust them. At best, they almost double-sold an item, though I have a suspicion that they kept the bracelet because they didn't want to reduce the price (which I NEVER asked for). If you are a buyer at one of their sales, keep a firm grip on any items you decide to buy. read more

Joe was very helpful when deciding what to do with a fully furnished vacation home I had listed for sale.! Definitely give them a shout.

Definitely won't be coming to any more of their estate sales. Waited out in the rain for hours today like everyone else only to realize they were letting a few hand picked folks in to "use the restroom" who were coming out with pieces they were placing next to the register. When I got in (the first person in line) those pieces had mysteriously sold.. So shady and unfair. read more

I went to an estate sale a few weeks ago and paid for a very unique carved table. I paid Joe CASH with a recept and he put sold on it. However, he forgot to pull the tag off of it and sold it again! So when I returned to pick it up, it was GONE!!!!! Now how does this happen?? They told me to call them back after sorting thru the tickets. I knew better that they were just trying to get rid of me. They had sold it twice and it was their screw up but refused to try and get it back. In my eyes, that stinks!!!! This was also for the new assistant police chief in Austin who just moved here. I think you would try to help them because you never know when you just might need them. Not a good experience. read more

In my honest opinion, if you are looking for reasonably priced wares, hardware, electronics, furniture, ephemera, collectibles, vintage, antiques, etc., maybe try one of the many other estate sale companies in our city. I was shocked at the attitude of the owner, Joe, who was a complete butt-hole to me and my wife. He was extremely rude and treated us like leapers when we asked about a price break on some of the broken trash they are trying to pass off as antiques at a recent sale. This is not an isolated incident. The staff of this estate sale company have been rude to us on another occasion, as well, where we had spent hundreds of dollars. This will be the last time they get our money. I If I had two extra hands I would give them four thumbs down. read more

I had NO idea how to handle the sale of some really nice family heirloom antique chairs that my mom gave me to safeguard. Unfortunately I used them for the following 9 years with my 0-7 year old son, husband and 2 large kitty cats but when I called Joe, he had not 1 but 4 great possible solutions to help me get these fine pieces to a more antique-friendly household. Austin Estate Sales recently handled an estate sale for me. It was such a relief to be able to turn the mounds of paper, books and 72 years of accumulated stuff over to Joe and his crew. They allowed me to leave a list of things I knew to be somewhere and then save the items for me when found. They even cleared out the attic for me! They were very professional and the sale seems to have gone very well. My one complaint was that after I had booked the sale they seemed to have gotten over stretched, then had unexpected circumstances arise that caused the sale to be pushed back a week. They did talk to me about it, but by then I knew I didn't really have a choice if I wanted everything to really be ready for the sale. Joe and his team were very pleasant to work with. I had communications from people (strangers) who had attended the sale and all thought it a great sale! I would definitely recommend Austin Estate Sales. read more

Joe is very nice and was patient with me. I wanted an item from another sale that I didn't buy because I spent so much as it is and he held onto it for me to pickup at a later date. I was one of the staff members at Austin Estate Sales's sale which, the below, Ka I., is describing. My comments are targeted directly to this Ka I., who's review keeps showing up. It was I, Ka, who confronted you, not during one day of our sale, but also a second day that you attended. Your selfish and erradic behavior towards myself and other staff members, but more so your total unawareness of our customers around you, was noted before I finally spoke out to you. The first time you picked up a jarful of jewelry, clearly marked as broken, all sold as is, and insisted on pawing through it to maybe pick out a piece or two you were interested in. You held up the line of others waiting patiently behind you. The next day you plucked a handful of sterling serving pieces and wanted "to go off somewhere to weigh it" as you obviously didn't trust our details and pricing on the tag. Wherever "somewhere" was, no one knew. Again, you held up others in line waiting patiently for their turn. All of the other accusations in your review are unwarranted. You got called on your public behavior. Accept it. But you obviously have a lot to say when things don't go your way. In this business, when we make a difficult decision to ask a customer to leave our sales, it is because we observe our customers reactions to such behavior, not just our own. You clearly have no manners or regard for others in public places. May other businesses take note. read more

I've attended hundreds, yes hundreds of estate sales in my 61 years, worked at Campbell/Neumann for nearly 30 until it closed, but find no better local company these days than Austin Estate Sales! Whether you're a shopper, collector or need liquidation, you should sign up for their email listings. Joe Asaro manages to have some GREAT sales like a recent one on Balcones Lane and another fantastic one in Cat Mountain. Joe and his sweet wife are truly professionals!!! read more

Fair prices and wonderful staff....one employee even helped me take out screws holding a mirror on a dresser and helped carry drawers to my car in the driveway! Austin Estate Sales recently held the estate sale for my parents' home. My parents traveled all over the world and loved art and antiques, and there were many unusual and unique items. My parents had lived there for 50 years, and there was a lot of stuff, so this was a massive undertaking. I was extremely impressed how Austin Estate Sales cleaned out every nook and cranny, washed and polished everything so that it looked its best, and staged the house so that everything was beautifully displayed. Their people are very knowledgeable about art and antiques and called in experts when needed. They worked to make sure everything was fairly priced--not so high that it would not sell, but not so cheap that it was practically being given away. Austin Estates Sales kept us informed every step of the way and were very interested in any history or information we could give them on various items. They also understood how traumatic it can be sometimes to see everything in your family home being put up for sale to strangers and treated us with respect. By the end of the sale, the house was almost completely cleared out, and Austin Estate Sales arranged to haul away anything that was left, leaving the house nice and clean.
